The National Youth Advocacy Service is a wonderful children's rights charity dedicated to supporting and empowering young people who have experienced care.

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers in Swindon to befriend and mentor a young person in care.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a young person's life!

Volunteer Delivery Driver needed to collect and deliver essential baby items to mums across the Greenwich Borough.
Flexible hours, training provided, and expenses reimbursed.

Purpose of Role 

Many of the mums we support cannot collect essential items themselves due to financial hardship, mobility issues, mental health challenges, or caring responsibilities. Volunteer Delivery Drivers help ensure essential donated items reach mums supported by MumsAid safely, respectfully, and with dignity. This role involves collecting goods from Mammakind Charity and delivering them directly to families, many of whom are experiencing hardship, isolation, or vulnerability. Due to the nature of this role, you will be in direct contact with vulnerable mums and their families, so a strong commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries is essential. 

What will you be doing? 

• Liaise with MumsAid team about delivery schedules 

• Collect and safely transport donated items from Mammakind Charity 

• Deliver items sensitively to families 

• Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries 

• Follow safeguarding guidance at all times 

• Report safeguarding or welfare concerns immediately to the MumsAid team 

• Promote and support equality, diversity and inclusion 

• Attend induction and role-specific training and take part in feedback sessions

Cats Protection in Poole are looking for a Volunteer Cashier in our charity shop.

Ideally you'll enjoy fashion, and the fun of a charity shop - you'll help shoppers find hidden gems. You'll help keep us looking beautiful - maintaining the shop floor, filling up our clothing rails, and using your creativity to help create exciting displays. You'll also be meeting our customers and helping them shop, as well as our kind donors, supporters, and cat-lovers!

Your kindness and hard work will help us care for cats and kittens in the Dorset area, with links to our Ferndown homing centre.

Full training will be provided, so experience is not necessary - but enthusiasm is a must!

We’re looking for a friendly face to welcome clients accessing BCWA services and help build a safe and comfortable space for them. If you have strong interpersonal skills and you’re a confident communicator who wants to help survivors, or you’re a reliable and honest volunteer looking to build your skills, we’d love to have you on board as a SPOC Front Desk Volunteer!

Front Desk Volunteers will volunteer within the BCWA SPOC Team, who provide key support to all BCWA services. Volunteers will be a welcoming and friendly face for walk-in clients or clients coming to their appointments, providing relevant information and directing them to the right place. But most importantly, Front Desk Volunteers provide the initial first point of contact for BCWA clients. They help create the comfortable, safe space that is integral to the support we provide, whether that’s through a friendly chat, a cup of coffee or tea, or just being kind. The SPOC team is a busy, sometimes high-pressure environment – our volunteers are integral at our busiest times of the year to ensure our clients and services get the support they need.

Volunteering with our SPOC team on the Front Desk might look like:

• Being that friendly and welcoming first point of contact for clients accessing BCWA services.
• Understanding the reason for a client’s visit and ensuring they are directed to the right place.
• Navigating any relevant information on BCWA systems.
• Offering clients a friendly chat or refreshments and curating a comfortable and safe environment.
• Helping staff and service teams using the space and giving them any information they need.
• Being an advocate for BCWA!

As a BCWA Front Desk Volunteer, you’ll get:

• All the training you need to understand and be prepared for your role with us, so you can use your time with us to grow and learn!
• Regular check-ins and contact with our Volunteer Coordinator as an opportunity to catch up, reflect and feedback on your volunteering experience with us.
• Access to the Wisdom App and the BCWA wellbeing provision.
• Access high quality support and advice from BCWA whenever you need it.
• Your travel to and from sessions expensed.  Lunch paid for if you volunteer for 6 hours or more.

Support Session Volunteer

You’ll be supporting people over the age of 18 with disabilities, this may include those with poor mental health, learning difficulties, autism and other disabilities.  Your role will include supporting clients to understand and undertake a task on a one-to-one basis.  The task will vary from client to client as will the needs of the individual. 

As a support session volunteer, you might: 

• help people have their say when it matters most
• Helping individuals navigate challenges and ensuring their needs are met
• help people to make complaints and use local services 

All volunteering will take place Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00.  You will need to be over 18 years old and be living in the UK. Please note that there is no opportunity to volunteer at weekends or in the evening.

About Brake

Every death and serious injury on the road is a preventable tragedy. Yet, on average, five people die every day on the road in the UK and 79 are seriously injured (10-year average from 2015-2024).

Our vision is a world with zero road death and injury, where we can all move in a safe and healthy way, whoever we are and however we travel. Since 1995, Brake has worked to prevent road deaths and serious injuries, make streets safe and healthy places for all, and support road crash victims through our National Road Victim Service. We campaign to prevent crashes and reduce harm when they occur. We help people affected by road death and injury get the support they need, for as long as they need it. The role
We are currently seeking new talent for our Board of Trustees. The Board has overall responsibility and accountability for the organisation’s governance and strategic direction, and trustees use their skills and experience to set the charity’s strategy and objectives and support their delivery and oversight.

 These responsibilities include

• Attending regular meetings of the Board and its sub-committees where required
• Contributing actively to the Board in helping set the charity’s strategic direction in line with its objectives
• Assisting in evaluating the executive team’s performance against agreed plans
• Ensuring that the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and all other relevant legislation and regulations
• Working with the Chair, other Board members and CEO/COO to ensure that the organisation uses its resources well and exclusively in pursuance of its charitable objects
•  Providing strategic advice and guidance where appropriate, drawing on personal expertise, while maintaining appropriate separation from day to day operations
• Acting in the best interests of Brake while exercising independent judgement

• HR, people and culture
• Insurance
• Legal
• Media, comms and PR
• Policing or emergency services
• Road safety policy
• Trauma informed practice

Formal board meetings take place quarterly, although from time to time, there are additional meetings that take place that you may be asked to join and contribute to, including sub-committees. The expected time commitment is approximately 1 – 2 days per month. Trustee appointments are typically for a three-year term, which may be renewed. Meetings are primarily held virtually, with occasional in-person meetings.

The role is unremunerated; reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

A bit about this role

As a charity we can continue to help cats and kittens in need thanks to the donations we receive at fundraising events from generous members of the public. Our fundraising event helpers have the exciting and varied role of helping at local fundraising events - such as cakes sales, barn dances, quiz nights – and everything in between!
 

You can expect us to

• cover agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy
• provide you with access to learning, development and engagement opportunities

What we need from you

• help set up and/or man stalls at events
• help on collection days like supermarket collections events or street collections
• help at fundraising events such as quiz nights, cake sales and dances
• promoting a professional image of Cats Protection at events

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.
