On Tuesday 09 June, the London Legal Support Trust (LLST), will host its annual fundraising event, the London Legal Walk, bringing the legal community together to raise funds in support of free legal advice charities across London and the South East.
Last year over 18,000 legal professionals from over 1000 organisations took on the challenge, stepping up for justice. To make this year’s event an even bigger success, we are on the lookout for enthusiastic and dedicated 1-day event marshals to join one of the largest single day fundraising events in the country and add value to the thousands of event attendees.
The event is attended by high ranking judiciary, the President of the Law Society, the lady Chief Justice and hundreds of London’s top law firms, advice agencies, and chambers. Want to be part of this special day and add skills to your CV? Take a look at some of the tasks you will be expected to undertake below:
Tasks
You will be positioned at a “cheer point” along the 10km route, where it will be your role to cheer and motivate walkers and offer support and encouragement as they go past. Your presence alone is enough to motivate thousands across the line and help raise as many funds as possible through a positive event experience. Other tasks may also include the setting up of the street party, registration desks, and stalls, as well as supporting in the cloakrooms.
Regular email contact and a full brief are provided so you are fully confident ahead of supporting this event. There will also be time to ask any questions and you will be provided information packs about your point on the route.
After you’re done, you will be able to enjoy the street party!

What are we looking for?
We need a dependable person with commercial or charity finance experience to help direct our charity's financial strategy as a member of our Board of Trustees. Senior finance background is useful, and Board or Executive Committee experience is preferred, but not essential.
We value drive, passion aligned with our charitable aims, and commitment to our strategy and commercial success. Open, collaborative teamwork is how we work, and any complementary talents that can be brought to the table will be very useful and valued for supporting and coaching our existing team.
Time commitment includes preparation for and attendance at quarterly Board meetings, ad hoc informal catch-up conversations, budget and month/year-end support in collaboration with our accountant. This may take around 10-15 hours per month, plus additional time for any voluntary projects as necessary
What will you be doing?
You'll collaborate with our small, friendly team of Trustees, the General Manager and our dedicated, passionate and hard-working operations teams, to design and implement strategies supporting long-term charity sustainability. Your experience will help drive efficiency, best practice, and will provide support for staff through coaching and mentoring. You'll play a key role in achieving the charity's objectives. Your local knowledge, networks, and community connections will be valuable. We welcome diversity, especially from youth, disabled, and ethnic minority applicants.

Manor Gardens Welfare Trust has been at the heart of Islington since 1913, where we were set up to address 10% rates of infant mortality. More than a century later, we're still pioneering: our Dahlia Project is the UK's first specialist psychotherapy service for FGM survivors, our award-winning Surplus Café, and leadership of the Islington Food Partnership have made us a serious force in community food justice, our advocacy work supports some of the boroughs most vulnerable residents in 16 community languages, and our youth services work with young people at risk of gang violence and exploitation in one of London's most deprived boroughs. We own three Grade II listed buildings in Upper Holloway, directly support over 2,500 people a year, and reach 10,000 more through outreach and partnerships.
What we do
From multilingual advocacy and community wellbeing to youth work, therapeutic services, and food security, we work across the intersections of disadvantage, with particular expertise in supporting refugee and minoritised communities, survivors of FGM and sexual violence, young people at risk of exploitation, and people facing mental health challenges. We are a small organisation with an outsized impact, and we take seriously our responsibility to influence policy as well as deliver services.
What we're looking for
We're seeking trustees with expertise in one or more of the below areas:
Fundraising and income development — You will have significant experience leading or overseeing fundraising strategy, with a strong track record across trusts and foundations, statutory commissioning, or other income streams relevant to a charity of our size and complexity. You understand what sustainable income looks like for a community health organisation navigating a difficult funding environment.
Services and community leadership — You will have deep experience leading or developing services for under-represented, minoritised, or marginalised communities, ideally in the voluntary and community sector. You understand what excellent, culturally competent, trauma-informed practice looks like — and how to govern it well.
Human resources — You will have significant HR expertise and an understanding of what good people management looks like in a complex, mission-driven organisation. Whether your background is in-house, consultancy, or the voluntary sector, you'll be able to bring a thoughtful, practical perspective to workforce questions at board level and contribute to our HR and Communications sub-group, as well as the wider board.
In either case, you'll bring strong communication skills, genuine commitment to equity and inclusion, and the strategic clarity to contribute meaningfully at board level.
What you'll join
Our board of six trustees brings expertise spanning third sector leadership, asset management, law, HR, finance, and communications. We meet five times a year, with three sub-groups (Fundraising and Services; HR and Communications; Finance and Facilities) that meet as needed. The time commitment averages around six hours per month. Trustees are appointed for three-year terms, with the potential for renewal.

Bring your fundraising skills and transport knowledge to equip us for the future
Campaign for Better Transport is the national organisation advocating for better, greener, fairer transport options for everyone. This includes access to walking, cycling, public transport and shared mobility. Sustainable transport provides access to jobs, education, vital public services, shops, leisure and friends and family, while limiting negative impacts on air quality and the environment.
As a trustee, you’ll have an essential role in contributing towards the future direction of Campaign for Better Transport and making a real difference to our long-term resilience and our subsequent ability to create better public transport.
The last few years have seen increasing difficulty for charities and not-for-profits in the transport sector in raising funds, particularly from Charitable Foundations and Trusts and although good accessible transport is vital to the everyday lives of most people, it is also not an area which resonates for individual fundraising.
For this reason, we’re looking for trustees with voluntary sector fundraising experience to bring new ideas on generating longer term and more diverse funding streams and/or experience of working in small businesses who know how to deliver maximum impact from limited resources. Ideally you will be passionate about transport and have a strong network of industry related contacts.
Our board has a good working relationship with our small but dedicated team of staff, and prides itself on being very friendly and relaxed.
Commitment:
- Four Board meetings per year
- Optionally serve on Finance Sub-committee which meets virtually four times per year before the board meeting

The Willats Trust is a grant-making, cross-denominational Christian charity with a vision to see our estates and most deprived communities around the UK transformed by the love of Jesus.
Our mission is to fund relational evangelism through local expressions of church, by working with like-hearted partners to share the good news of Jesus in the areas of greatest deprivation across the UK.
Since our establishment in 1858, sharing the Gospel in these communities has always been our priority. Thanks to the generosity of Mr Willats, who gifted a significant property portfolio to the charity at its inception, we have been able to use funds generated from this property portfolio to finance grant-making to support evangelists, church planters, or other activities related to evangelism and making disciples in the top 20% areas of deprivation across the UK.
Following a strategic review in 2025, we have an ambition to more than double the amount we award in grants from £500,000 to £1m a year. Over the next ten years, we want to see more thriving Jesus-centric churches planted in our areas of greatest deprivation and led by people who look like the communities they are serving. This means part of our grant-making supports immediate tactical needs, but part of our grant-making also seeks to influence the underlying factors which will enable the long-term fulfilment of our vision.
We believe the kingdom of God works best when we all bring what is in our hand and let God do the multiplication. Our posture is to come alongside like-hearted partners who share the same vision and work together in partnership to support and equip those God has called to these communities.
We are seeking to make two Trustee appointments. Individuals who bring expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Mission-related: someone with lived experience of planting, leading or supporting Jesus-centric churches in communities experiencing significant deprivation. You will probably also carry a sense of calling that is bigger than a single geographic area and will be able help us think strategically about how we use our resources to contribute to increased church planting and evangelism in our areas of greatest deprivation, alongside others, over the next decade and bring deep relationships with others already serving in this space.
- Commercial property: someone with professional property expertise relating to exiting portfolios of residential and non-purpose-built HMO properties, or property development, who can advise on asset optimisation and property exits over the coming years, which will enable us to give more money away.
- Legal, financial or HR: individuals with strategic leadership skills and a passion to see resources deployed for Kingdom-purpose.
The time commitment required of a Trustee is usually likely to equate to approximately 6-8 days per year.
It’s a crucial and exciting time in the history and further development of The Willats Trust. By being a Trustee you will be able to make a difference across the UK and get to have a ringside seat to see what God is doing, as we know his heart is always for the most overlooked and forgotten. We are full of expectancy for what God is going to do in this current season and want to play our small part in this, alongside others.

We are seeking a Treasurer/Trustee for The Historic Towns Trust, an educational charity that focuses on inspiring future generations to understand, appreciate and preserve their urban heritage. The Trust works in partnership with local historians, geographers and archaeologists to publish historical maps and atlases that give everyone a sense of belonging and custodianship. Our unique multi-layer mapping techniques reveal a new way to visualise the complex development of Britain’s towns, enabling us to better analyse the impact of events and communities over time. We use our research to develop teaching materials for schools and to engage the public with free talks, empowering them with the knowledge and confidence to influence future decisions about their built environments.
Among our Trustees we have some of the leading academics in the fields of urban history and archaeology, architects, and business people, who share a passion for maps and history. While the organisation has no central office and Trustees are spread across Britain, we meet frequently, usually but not exclusively in London.
The Trust has expanded significantly in recent years, increasing the number of maps and atlases we produce and developing educational and community outreach programmes to increase the impact of each map for the town it serves. The number and value of transactions we undertake (raising funds for projects, selling maps, taking on our first employee) has grown considerably and we are seeking a new Trustee to fill the role of Treasurer, helping us to re-shape the organisation for the future.
The Role
The Historic Towns Trust has the following financial activities
1. Income from our endowment
2. Income from sale of maps and atlases directly, through our website and through third party distributors
3. Income from grants and donations to HTT towards core activities
4. Holding of money raised for individual atlas and map projects
5. Expenditure on administration
6. Quarterly VAT filing
7. GiftAid collection and accounting
8. Annual audit
Currently three sub-committees (Projects, Communications and Resources) report to an Executive Sub-Committee (“ESC”) that reports to the Board of Trustees. Each of these meets quarterly, with two Board meeting held in person in June and December, usually in London.
In the light of the recent growth in activities we are reviewing our operating structure. This may include
· A new Educational sub-committee
· Splitting Resources between Administration and Sales/Marketing
· Recruitment of a paid part-time book-keeper
· Recruitment of an office administrator
The Treasurer will sit on ESC and will be responsible for the financial administration of the Trust and its reporting obligations to HMRC and the Charities Commission. They will report to the Board on the financial position of the Trust on a quarterly basis, and lead deliberations on major investments. They will lead the audit.
As a Trustee they will have the opportunity to be engaged in our atlas and map activities, attending events and launches and contributing in any other way to the development of the Trust.

The Brigantia Learning Trust Governance Model is different to the way a governing body in a non-academy or traditional school undertakes governance.
Essentially, there are four elements to the governance of the Brigantia Learning Trust academies – local councils that are delivered via the Academy Advisory Councils (AAC), Trust governance, delivered via the Full Board of Trustees (Non-Executive Directors), the Trust Leadership Team (Executive Directors) and the Trust Members.
The Board of Trustees has 4 sub-committees, concerned with Finance, Risk & Audit, HR, Education & Standards and Remuneration along with the four Academy Advisory Councils: Brigantia Hill Fort, Hinde House (2-16), Yewlands and Longley Park Sixth Form. As the trust continues to grow, and the Academy Advisory Councils become more experienced and confident, greater delegated powers will be identified and approved by the Board of Trustees.
Local Councils - The Academy Advisory Council
Each AAC consists of a group of people who could be parents, community nominees, academy staff. They will meet with the academy (Executive) Principal, Associate Principal and other senior leaders where appropriate. In attendance at these meetings will be Link Trustees and members of the Trust Executive Team may be in attendance. This is to ensure that the voice of the local stake holders is heard first-hand by the Board of Trustees.
The Brigantia Learning Trust Board has established six key roles for Academy Advisory Councils:
• To advise/act as a critical friend to the (Executive) Principal of the academy
• To advise the Trustees about local issues they need to consider that affect the academy
• To support the Safeguarding Trustee with localised academy information
• Represent the interest of the academy community in the running of the academy
• Represent the academy in its community
• Provide support to the (Executive) Principal in undertaking appropriate day to day procedures that are essential to the life of the academy
The six roles translate specifically into the following tasks that the AAC undertakes:
• To act as a key link between the academy, parents and local community
• To support the work of the academy in the community
• To help on the ground with the implementation of certain academy policies
• To offer challenging but positive and proactive support to the (Executive) Principal
• To regularly discuss the academy’s performance in relation to the KPIs (Key
• Performance Indicators)
The difference between Brigantia Learning Trust Governance and a traditional Governing Body
By comparison to a traditional school Governing Body:
• The AAC’s role is not to “manage” the Academy as such. This is done through the Trust Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees. Therefore, the AAC is not required to take decisions on staff or financial matters affecting the Academy. As an Academy Advisor you should have an understanding of strategic issues that impact on the Academy, and be updated on them regularly by the Principal, but you are not required to have direct responsibility for them.
• As the Trust Leadership Team and Board of Trustees takes responsibility for educational standards, legal compliance and financial viability, the AAC then has the time to investigate the impact of policy on the ground, to see how they are working, and explore how the Brigantia Learning Trust ethos is being understood and expressed in the way the Academy operates. As an Academy Advisor, your view as a parent or as part of the community is vital in this discussion.
3. HOW THE AAC OPERATES
Expectations
Brigantia Learning Trust understands that the role of an Academy Advisor is voluntary, however, in order for the Academy Advisory Council to function efficiently and effectively, there are certain expectations of Academy Advisors in order to achieve this.
i) Meetings
Meetings of the AAC take place 3 times over the academic year. The meeting is prepared by the Principal and the Chair of the AAC, and the process is supported by the clerk to the AAC. You will receive a link to the agenda and papers in advance of the meeting from the clerk electronically.
Meetings are usually held after school or at other times as agreed locally by all Academy Advisors.
ii) Contribution at meetings and outside of meetings
Academy Advisors are expected to come to meetings prepared; having read and familiarised themselves with the agenda and accompanying papers as well as being prepared to ask relevant questions (Please see section 3.2 for further detail and examples).
iii) Business Interest and code of conduct
Academy Advisors are required to declare any business or other interests in any item being discussed at the AAC meeting. The Academy Advisers are asked to abide by the AAC Code of Conduct. The AAC clerk will provide the appropriate forms for AAC members to sign.
iv) AAC Responsibilities
Academy Advisors should make every effort to visit the Academy during the Academy day; all visits must be planned and focused on areas as agreed by the full Academy Advisory Council. Visits inform the work of the AAC and provide valuable information for support and challenge to the Academy’s Leadership Team. AAC members are asked to report on their visit using the appropriate form. This report will be presented at the AAC meetings, and a central record of all visits will be held by the Clerk to the Board of Trustees.
v) Skills Audit
All Academy Advisors are expected to complete a skills audit at the beginning of every academic year, this assists the Trust Executive and Trustees to identify gaps in skills and arrange appropriate training.
vi) Safeguarding
All Academy Advisors are required to have an up-to-date enhanced DBS check, as well as undertake annual safeguarding training as required, this will be delivered at the first AAC meeting of the academic year.

Strategic Oversight: Help deliver ORT’s vision to improve the quality of life for those living and working in Stepney and the Ocean Estate in Tower Hamlets.
Community Impact: Support 10 year objectives i.e. the implementation of NHS/Public Health initiatives such as neighbourhood health and wellbeing, capacity building for the local Voluntary and Community sector, employment and skills and strategic expertise in housing and welfare changes.
Governance: Attend Board meetings (at least 4–5 times per year) and contribute constructively to decision-making.
Time Commitment & Location
Meetings: Held at the Harford Street Multicentre, E1 or online (hybrid)
Duration: Meetings typically last 1–2 hours and preparatory reading.
Remuneration: These are voluntary positions; however, legitimate expenses (such as travel) will be reimbursed

This role would suit those with experience or interest in research, bid writing, charity fundraising, marketing, creative writing, commissioning, public sector tenders or grant assessment who is looking for a meaningful, regular volunteering commitment. The Mulberry Centre is looking for opportunities to identify and apply for relevant grants, trust and foundations funding in a competitive market. Grant requests will be on average £500-£10,000 for specific services as well as core Centre costs. This Fundraising Volunteer (the role can be undertaken by one volunteer or split into two parts and shared) will work closely with the Fundraising and Engagement Team to help streamline the research and application process. The first part of the role is to research and check grants and trust funding lists and databases for current opportunities and deadlines for applications to determine which are relevant, where we meet the necessary criteria, and how quickly we need to apply. The second part of the role is to draft and adapt application information to inspire and appeal positively to specific funders.
