The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC) is a registered charity based in Wolverhampton. We support, empower and advocate for women and children, encouraging women to become self-reliant by identifying their needs, making informed choices and creating their own solutions.

Our services include a baby bank, charity shop, youth support, short-term home visits, counselling, domestic violence support groups, awareness-raising workshops and events, and a range of practical and emotional support for women and families experiencing crises or challenging circumstances.

Job Description

The Event Planner will plan, coordinate and deliver successful fundraising, retail, community-engagement and awareness-raising events for WFRC and its charity shop. The postholder will develop events that increase income, encourage donations, attract volunteers, promote WFRC's services and strengthen relationships with women, families, supporters, businesses and the wider community.

The Event Planner will manage events from initial concept through to evaluation. This includes budgeting, scheduling, venue and supplier coordination, promotion, volunteer management, risk assessment, event delivery and post-event reporting.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and deliver fundraising, retail, community and awareness-raising events from start to finish.
• Develop event plans, budgets, schedules, risk assessments and contingency arrangements.
• Coordinate venues, suppliers, equipment, catering, entertainment and other event requirements.
• Develop creative fundraising and income-generating activities, including charity-shop promotions and campaigns.
• Manage event finances, including budgets, invoices, payments, cash handling, donations and financial records
• Promote events through social media, email, posters, community networks and other appropriate channels.
• Recruit, coordinate, brief, supervise and support staff and volunteers involved in events and activities.
• Build positive relationships with donors, businesses, suppliers, community organisations, service users and other stakeholders.
• Ensure events are safe, inclusive and compliant with safeguarding, health and safety, GDPR and WFRC policies.
• Monitor and evaluate events, including attendance, income, expenditure, feedback and impact, and provide reports and recommendations to management.

Experience

• Experience of planning, coordinating or supporting events, fundraising activities, retail promotions, workshops or community programmes.
• Experience of working in retail, charity, customer service, administration or a community environment.
• Experience of supervising, coordinating or working with staff and volunteers.
• Experience of managing several priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Experience of working with budgets, invoices, cash handling or financial records.
• Strong office-administration experience, including record-keeping, filing and data entry.
• Experience of communicating with suppliers, venues, donors, partners and members of the public.
• Experience of delivering high-quality customer service and resolving problems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisation, planning and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage several events and priorities independently.
• Ability to work collaboratively with the Marketing Manager, staff and volunteers.
• Ability to build positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
