Would you like to help bring engineering stories to life and be the face of Foothold’s digital content? As a Volunteer Content Presenter, you’ll play a key role in delivering engaging video content that highlights our services, supports our fundraising efforts, and raises awareness of the challenges engineers face. Whether remotely or in-person, you’ll help humanise our work and make a lasting impact on the engineering community.

 Volunteering Opportunity 

Gardening Volunteer – Day Care Centre

What You’ll Do

Support the development and maintenance of our allotment space at the Mabel Churn Day Care Centre. You’ll help create a calm, welcoming outdoor environment where older people can enjoy nature, take part in light gardening activities, and connect with others.

You will:

· Help maintain the allotment space (e.g. watering, weeding, planting, harvesting)

· Support the set-up and upkeep of planting areas, raised beds, or pots

· Encourage and support clients to get involved in simple gardening tasks

· Help keep the outdoor space safe, tidy, and accessible

· Work with staff to plan seasonal planting or small garden projects

· Report any concerns or maintenance needs to staff

Skills You’ll Use or Develop

· Interest in gardening or outdoor activities (no expert knowledge needed)

· Friendly and patient approach when engaging with older people

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Basic understanding of health and safety in an outdoor setting

· Creativity and initiative in developing the space

· Reliable and committed

Time Commitment

Flexible – ideally 2-4 hours per week

Weekdays 10:00 am and 2:00 pm

Location: The Mabel Churn Centre, 55b Sunny Road, Enfield, EN3 5EF

There is something for everyone, with roles based in the event site and along the route. Be part of an unforgettable event experience as you cheer at a marshal point, follow the route as a back marker, sell some goodies or congratulate walkers with their finish line medal. You will have the opportunity to pair up with a friend or another volunteer and we’ll make sure you have everything you need!

Volunteering Opportunity

Ucan Enfield Ambassador

What You’ll Do

As a UCAN Enfield Ambassador, you’ll play a key role in helping people find out about and engage with the UCAN project, which promotes healthy lifestyle changes through free exercise, nutrition and wellbeing sessions. You’ll help support sessions on the day and raise awareness in the community.

You will:

• Attend UCAN exercise or nutrition sessions to take the register and gather feedback from attendees
• Represent UCAN at community events or groups by helping to set up an information stall
• Talk to members of the public about UCAN and help them sign up
• Input register or sign-up data into the CRM system (training provided)

Skills You’ll Use or Develop

• Friendly, confident communication with the public
• Ability to use simple digital forms
• Reliable, organised and a good team player
• Willingness to learn and follow data protection guidance

Time Commitment

Flexible – ideally 2–4 hours per week
May include weekdays or occasional weekends depending on events and session schedules

Location: Various community venues across Enfield
Reports to: UCAN Enfield Project Lead or Practitioner

A growing women’s empowerment social enterprise in Uganda is seeking a volunteer accountant to strengthen budgeting, cashflow forecasting and financial systems.

The organisation supports over 300 women artisans, including single mothers, widows and teenage mothers, through vocational training and income generating opportunities linked to handmade crafts.

As international sales opportunities grow, the organisation wants to ensure its finance processes remain practical, sustainable and fit for purpose.

The volunteer will work with the Founder and Managing Director to review internal processes and controls, support effective use of Zoho Books, review the chart of accounts, improve budgeting and cashflow forecasting, develop simple management reporting tools and support audit preparation.

This would suit a hands on volunteer comfortable working closely with a small local team.

Our green charity looks after dozens of spaces around the East Midlands, including areas in the High Peak.c;

From planting and coppicing trees to litter picking and weeding, there are tasks for people of all ages and abilities, whether you’re an avid gardener or a brand new enthusiast. Full training, PPE, and light refreshments are provided. We’ll also fully reimburse your transport costs.

Our outdoor community hub in Worksop launched in autumn 2024 and continues to grow.

We host family events, children’s nature play groups, workshops, green skills training sessions, and much more. We also grow our own produce to use in healthy cooking and eating events on-site.

Every other Friday 9:30am – 2:30pm we work with volunteers who want to be part of something special, to give back to the community and the environment. You can still sign up even if you can’t attend every time or all day, every hour you spent with us is greatly appreciated.

We need volunteers to help us with: DIY, gardening, implementing infrastructure such as polytunnels, raised beds, seating, and more.

Do you enjoy reading and want to make a real difference?

As a Reader Volunteer, you'll provide one-to-one support to blind and partially sighted people by helping with everyday reading and writing. Whether you're reading letters, completing forms, sharing the latest news or enjoying a favourite book together, your time can make daily life easier while providing valuable companionship.

Visits take place in members' homes at times that suit you both, giving you the opportunity to build a friendly and trusted relationship over time.

We're looking for caring, reliable volunteers with a clear speaking voice, good communication skills and a patient, understanding approach. No previous experience is needed—just confidence in reading aloud and a willingness to help. We'd ask for a commitment of at least six months to provide consistency for the person you support.

Please note: This role requires an Enhanced DBS check, as you'll be supporting blind and partially sighted adults on a one-to-one basis.

Across the UK, our volunteer groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS, bringing people together and connecting our local MS communities.

As a Communications Volunteer you’ll play a key role in promoting your group to people in your area affected by MS, and helping them feel connected. You could be editing newsletters, responding to information requests, or developing engaging content for social media — depending on what the group needs.

In this role you’ll develop your writing skills, and gain experience of communicating across a range of digital channels.

Most importantly you’ll be helping us engage with lots of people and get the word out to people with MS about support to help them live their lives to the full.

We are seeking reliable and responsible Volunteer Drivers to support the transportation of food and products to markets, events, and private catering locations across London. This role is vital in ensuring goods are delivered safely, on time, and in excellent condition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect food and product items from designated pick-up points
• Transport goods to markets, events, and catering venues
• Load and unload items safely
• Plan efficient delivery routes
• Maintain communication with the team
• Ensure vehicle cleanliness
• Follow road safety regulations

Requirements:

• Valid UK driving licence
• Access to a reliable vehicle
• Good knowledge of London roads or GPS use
• Ability to lift moderate loads
• Reliable and organised

Desirable:

• Delivery or logistics experience
• Food hygiene awareness
