About the Role

We are looking a capable and reliable Officer within IT & Systems to support the IT & Systems function and provide operational cover for the Head of IT & Systems when required. This role exists to ensure continuity of systems, user support, and core IT processes in the event of absence, increased workload, or unexpected issues.

Reporting directly to the Head of IT & Systems, you will help manage day-to-day systems, respond to support requests, and handle joiner and leaver processes. The role is hands-on, practical, and focused on keeping things running rather than long-term architecture or strategy. Please note: This is a voluntary and unpaid role, with no financial compensation or future paid opportunities attached. Key Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day operation of internal systems, including user access, permissions, and basic configurations.
• Monitor and respond to IT and systems support requests, escalating issues where appropriate.
• Supporting new starter and leaver processes, including account setup, access changes, and offboarding.
• Assist with the administration of Bitrix, ClickUp, Teamplate, or similar platforms.
• Maintain clear documentation for processes and common issues.
• Provide operational cover for the Head of IT & Systems during periods of absence or unavailability.

Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

Overall Purpose of Role

• To ensure on behalf of the Board that Plateful Cafe’s assets are properly managed, only used for approved purposes, and applied as effectively as possible
• Oversee the financial affairs of the organisation and ensure they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice

Main Responsibilities

• Share the responsibility of jointly reporting the financial position (balance sheet, cash flow, fundraising performance etc).
• Oversee the production of necessary financial reports/returns, accounts and audits and the production of an annual budget and propose its adoption at the last meeting of the previous financial year.
• To ensure that proper accounts and records are kept and that Plateful Cafe meets its legal obligations in respect of its financial affairs and financial reporting
• To ensure that Plateful Cafe’s financial resources are spent in line with good governance and legal and regulatory requirements
• To be jointly instrumental in the development and implementation of Plateful Cafe's financial policies
• To supervise and assist Finance assistants

Main Tasks
- Liaising with the appropriate member(s) of volunteers responsible for Plateful Cafe’s
financial activities and financial record-keeping
- Make members aware of their financial obligations and take a lead in interpreting
financial data to them.
- Monitoring that financial systems and controls are in place and adhered to
- Assist the fundraising team and team with Funding applications with the finance
questions
- Assist with preparing budgets and other financial information for funding bids
- Assist volunteers with the preparation of financial reports for funders
- Acting as a financial spokesperson for Plateful Cafe as appropriate
- Ensure proper records are kept and that effective financial procedures and controls
are in place, ie:

• Cheque signatories
• Purchasing limits
• Purchasing systems
• Petty cash/ float
• Others as appropriate

- Appraising the financial viability of plans, proposals and feasibility studies.

- Lead on appointing and liaising with auditors/an independent examiner.

- Undertake bookkeeping duties and/or oversee the finance volunteer ensuring posting
and bookkeeping is kept up-to-date.

- Maintain the petty cash system and regularly process petty cash claims.

- Regularly carry out reconciliations/ oversee regular reconciliations by the finance
volunteer.

- Arrange payments to creditors as appropriate and arrange appropriate signatures on
payments.

- Make the necessary arrangements to collect payments from debtors and bank
payments promptly.

Qualities

must have charity sector experience
 Knowledge and experience of current and fundraising finance practice relevant to
voluntary and community organisations.

For over 125 years, The Highbury Centre has been providing rest, renewal and Christian hospitality to missionaries and Christian workers from around the world. What began as the Foreign Missions Club has grown into something truly special, a home away from home where God's workers can rest, recharge, and reconnect with their calling.

In their beautiful Victorian building, they welcome church leaders, missionaries, aid workers and their families who come seeking not just accommodation, but genuine Christian fellowship and a space to catch their breath. 

We are seeking a new Chair of Trustees and up to four new trustees to join their board at this pivotal moment in their history. As a trustee, you'll play a crucial role in shaping their strategic direction, ensuring they remain financially sustainable, maintaining their beautiful historic building, and upholding the Christian values that have guided them for more than a century.

The Role

We are seeking a new Secretary of Trustees to support the governance and administration of the charity. This is a vital role that ensures the smooth running of trustee meetings and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

The Secretary will work closely with the Chair, Treasurer, and other trustees to maintain accurate records and facilitate effective communication.

Key Responsibilities

Governance & Compliance

• Ensure the charity complies with statutory and regulatory requirements, including filing with the Charity Commission.
• Maintain up-to-date records of trustee appointments and declarations of interest.

Meeting Administration

• Organise and schedule trustee meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
• Prepare and circulate agendas, minutes, and supporting documents.
• Record accurate minutes and actions from meetings.

Communication & Coordination

• Act as the main point of contact for trustee communications.
• Support the coordination of trustee activities and follow-up on agreed actions.
• Liaise with external stakeholders as needed (e.g. Charity Commission, VHL Alliance).

Documentation & Record-Keeping

• Maintain the charity’s governing documents and policies.
• Ensure secure and accessible storage of key documents and records.

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who:

• Has strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Is detail-oriented and reliable.
• Communicates clearly and professionally.
• Has experience of minute-taking and document management (not necessarily in a charity setting).
• Is committed to the values and mission of VHL UK/Ireland.
• Ideally has lived experience of VHL or a related condition (not essential).

(Telephone Based work from home, but can lead to face-to-face befriending)

Older persons are at risk of becoming isolated and losing their community connections. As a mainly Telephone Befriender Volunteer, you'll work flexibly from the comfort of your own home and contact older persons to understand their service needs. If you love talking to others, are polite and empathetic, and have access to a phone, we'd love to hear from you. There may also be the opportunity for a physical meeting, but only if relevant and where it is something you want to do.

⚖️ About the Role

We are seeking a Volunteer Solicitor with experience in family law, safeguarding, or domestic abuse-related legal matters to provide initial legal guidance, signposting, and referrals to vulnerable individuals supported by Guardian Light Foundation.

This role is advisory and supportive, not high-volume casework. Your expertise will help people understand their rights, options, and next steps at critical moments in their lives.

�� What You’ll Be Doing

• Providing initial legal advice and guidance (not ongoing representation)

• Supporting safeguarding decisions where legal insight is required

• Advising on urgent legal options in high-risk situations

• Signposting individuals to appropriate external legal services

• Working closely with GLF’s safeguarding and support teams

• Maintaining clear professional boundaries and ethical practice

Because this role supports vulnerable individuals:

• An Enhanced Volunteer DBS Check is required

• DBS checks are conducted via our trusted partner Serve (Rushden)

• All work must align with GLF’s safeguarding policies

• Confidentiality and GDPR compliance are essential

�� Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

• Qualified UK Solicitor (or equivalent legal professional)

• Experience in family law, domestic abuse, or child safeguarding

• Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice

• Ability to explain legal concepts clearly and compassionately

• Commitment to ethical and client-centred practice

Desirable:

• Experience working with charities or vulnerable populations

• Knowledge of housing or homelessness law

• Familiarity with referral pathways and support services
