About the opportunity

Hope and Vision Communities is a Reading-based charity supporting people as they move on from residential addiction treatment. We provide safe, family-sized homes where residents can continue their recovery, build relationships, develop independence and find their place in the community. Alongside a place to live, we offer practical and emotional support, opportunities to work, volunteer, retrain and socialise, and a community where people can feel supported for as long as they need it.

We’re looking for a volunteer with a passion for video and storytelling to help us share more of this work. From community activities and events to the everyday moments that show what recovery and rebuilding a life can look like, you’ll help us create content that gives people a better understanding of Hope and Vision and the difference our community can make.

The main focus will be video editing, including short-form content for social media and longer-form videos for platforms such as YouTube and our website. There will also be opportunities to help us tell the wider Hope and Vision story, including our work supporting people as they move towards independent living and our plans to develop our communities further.

If you also have skills or an interest in graphic design or website front-end development, we’d be very happy to make use of those skills. These are an added bonus rather than a requirement — what matters most is your ability to create engaging content and your interest in helping us share the work we do.

What you could be working on

Depending on what’s happening across the charity, your work might include:

• Turning footage from community activities, events and interviews into engaging videos
• Editing short videos for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube Shorts
• Producing longer-form videos for YouTube and our website
• Adding captions, music, graphics and simple visual effects
• Creating different versions of videos for different social media platforms
• Helping us make the most of existing footage and content
• Coming up with ideas for new video content and ways of telling our stories
• Working with members of the team to understand what we want each piece of content to achieve

If you have ideas about how we could make our content more interesting, accessible or effective, we’d love to hear them.

Additional creative skills

There may also be opportunities to get involved in other areas if these are skills you enjoy using.

· Graphic design could include creating social media posts, thumbnails, posters, campaign materials or other digital assets.

· Website/front-end skills could include helping improve the appearance and usability of our website, creating or adjusting page layouts, or making small front-end changes using technologies such as HTML, CSS or JavaScript.

These areas are entirely optional. The core requirement is an interest and ability in video editing.

What would suit this role?

Whether you’re looking to develop your experience, take on a new creative project, or simply enjoy making videos and would like to use your skills to support a local charity, we’d love to hear from you. You don’t need to have worked for a charity before.

We’d particularly like to hear from you if you:

• Have experience with video editing software such as CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or similar
• Understand what makes video content engaging on social media
• Have a good eye for pacing, composition, music and storytelling
• Can work independently and manage your time
• Are comfortable taking feedback and working with others
• Are reliable and able to commit around 4–8 hours each week
• Care about the work charities and community organisations do

Experience with graphic design, motion graphics, photography, branding or front-end web development would be a bonus.

This is a chance to create content that reflects the work we do at Hope and Vision Communities and the people and communities we support. You’ll be working with real footage from our activities, events and projects, helping to show the difference our work makes in Reading and the surrounding communities.

As well as developing your video editing skills and building your portfolio, you’ll help us share more of what we do with a wider audience. Your work will help us tell our stories, showcase the people we work alongside, raise awareness of the opportunities and support we provide, and encourage more people to connect with and support Hope and Vision Communities.

Time commitment

We’re looking for approximately 4–8 hours per week, although we can be flexible about when those hours are completed.

Some work can be done remotely, with arrangements discussed around the needs of the charity and the volunteer.

Womankind Worldwide is a global women’s rights organisation working in partnership with women’s rights movements and organisations to transform the lives of women and girls. We strengthen and support women’s movements in our focus countries in Africa and Asia, and take collective action at regional and global levels, to ensure women’s voices are heard, their rights are realised, and their lives are free from violence. Womankind Worldwide is a UK registered charity.

Overall Purpose

The Finance and Resources Committee Member supports Womankind’s Honorary Treasurer and Board Members in relation to Finance, People and Culture, Risk and Resources, across jurisdictions.

The Finance & Resources Committee Member works alongside the Honorary Treasurer and other Committee members, bringing independent expertise, scrutiny and constructive challenge to help ensure Womankind remains financially sustainable, accountable, compliant and aligned with our feminist and anti-racist values.

The Finance & Resources Committee Member is not a member of Womankind’s Board of Trustees and does not carry trustee responsibilities.

Our Vision is: A world where all women, girls and people of all genders enjoy equal rights and freedoms and live with joy, choice and dignity.

Location: We are a Hybrid organisation and the Finance and Resources Committee meets online. We are registered in the UK and Kenya and have flexible working spaces for our mainly remote team in Nairobi and London.

Time commitment: The Finance & Resources Committee (FRC) meet 4 times per year. Members are expected to read papers in advance and may occasionally attend additional ad-hoc meetings with the Honorary Treasurer or Director of Finance, People & Culture. The estimated time commitment is 6-8 days per year.

Start Date: December 2026.

Duration: 3 years.

Salary: This is an unpaid voluntary position. Reasonable expenses/per diems for travel and subsistence whilst on Womankind business are reimbursable.

Support: The Finance & Resources Committee Member is supported by The Honorary Treasurer, fellow Finance & Resources Committee members and by a staff team comprising: Director Finance & People & Culture, Manager People, Culture & Wellbeing, Co-CEOs and Leadership Support Manager.

Specific Responsibilities

1. To contribute to the Finance & Resources Committee to fulfil its governance responsibilities.

• To work with the Honorary Treasurer in ensuring satisfactory systems and processes for holding monies or property in trust, for use in line with the organisation’s charitable objects.

• To work with the Honorary Treasurer to ensure that where appropriate monies are invested to the greatest benefit of Womankind, within the constraints of the law and ethical investment practices.

2. To ensure that Womankind Worldwide is meeting its obligations and that financial management is line with good practice.

• To work alongside the Honorary Treasurer in ensuring that Womankind operates within the legal and financial guidelines as set out in current legislation and its own policies in the UK and Kenya.

• To work with the Finance & Resources Committee on oversight of the following areas:

• ensuring that Womankind has adequate financial controls in place that are being practised and that the organisation operates within a sound financial framework.

• in management identifying financial risks and recommending appropriate action.

• ensuring appropriate reserves policy and management.

• financial implications and risks of Womankind’s strategy and policy objectives.

3. To provide oversight that Human Resources Policies are developed and delivered in line with organisational values, good practice and legislation in the UK and Kenya.

• To work with the Finance & Resources Committee on oversight of organisation human resources policy:

• ensuring that Womankind designs and implements human resources policies and procedures which are fit for purpose in relation to organisational strategy and values as well as relevant legislation.

• ensuring that terms & conditions are equitable across jurisdictions.

• holding management to account for timely development and review of policies appropriate to nature of the risk, in line with agreed schedules.

• to support identification of human resources risks and recommended actions.

4. To contribute to feminist and values-led governance

Person Specification

Qualification and training

• Recognised full qualification in accounting and / or qualification by experience.

Experience and Knowledge

• Solid experience of leadership in relation to finance, human resources and risk management in organisations operating across multiple jurisdictions.

• Track record of facilitating and scrutinising development and delivery of finance and human resources strategies

• Excellent understanding of not-for-profit finance and relevant financial legislation in the UK

• Good understanding of international issues and the current challenges facing UK NGOs working internationally, including in relation to coloniality

Our Independent Visitor Service is looking for volunteers in or near to Worcester.

For many children and young people living in foster care can be unsettling. You can make a difference by volunteering as an Independent Visitor. 

We are looking for fun, reliable, and pro-active volunteers from all different cultures, backgrounds and experiences who have a genuine interest in making a difference to the lives of children and young people. 

You will decide with your young person what to do, but activities could include going to the cinema, bowling, playing football, going to a restaurant, riding a bike, or walking in a park. We will match you with a child you share common interests with. 

You do not need experience of working with children and young people, just an interest in their development and welfare. Full training and support are provided 

Here’s a few of the young people we have waiting for a volunteer: 

• Amy (12) lives with an older carer, she would like an active Independent Visitor who can do sports with her. 

• Brad (13) lives in residential care with other young people, he doesn’t have anyone in his family visit. He would like an Independent Visitor to take him out and have fun, like the other young people. 

• Cassie (16) lives with carers in a new town, she doesn’t have any friends in the area yet. She would like an Independent Visitor to help with her confidence and going out in the local area, she loves hot chocolate and cake. 

• Danny (11) lives with foster carers and attends a special school. He would like an Independent Visitor to help him be more independent, he likes parks, aeroplanes, and animals. 

• Emma (9) lives with her carer in a very busy household, she would like an Independent Visitor to spend some time with her on her own trying different activities together.

ABOUT US 

Central and North West London (CNWL) Trust has almost 7,000 staff providing integrated healthcare to a third of London's population, Milton Keynes and areas beyond. 

Arts in Health (AiH) is a step-down service from the Community Mental Health Hubs (CMHH), offering a programme of regular creative activities to support adults with lived experiences of mental health difficulties.

Our programme consists of weekly sessions on a Thursday – taking place at an art studio in W9 and cultural visits to museums and galleries across Central London. 

Participants can attend Arts in Health for roughly 8 months. Therefore, we request that volunteers commit to 8 months (1 term) or the whole year (2 terms) if possible. 

Term 1 runs from Sept 2026 – March 2027 and Term 2 runs from April 2027 – Dec 2027.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

We are looking for a local volunteer ‘travel buddy’ to accompany and support a participant from home to the Arts in Health session locations, every Thursday. This would best suit someone living close to Westminster or Kensington & Chelsea due to travel time, but we are open to further afield. 

Participants may need support because they feel anxious travelling alone, going to a new place, taking public transport, have fluctuations in their mental health, or need the accountability of having a travel buddy.

You won’t be attending the 2 hour sessions (2-4pm) of the project, but you will be free to spend those two hours looking at shops, museums, reading, or going to a cafe.

COMMITMENT AND LOCATION 

You will need to be available on Thursday afternoons, from late September, to provide weekly support - arriving with your participant at the selected venue by 1.45pm and picking up just after 4pm. This means you'll approximately be needed from late morning until early evening, depending on travel times. 

Travel buddies will have an online induction with the Arts in Health team before the project starts to share more about the project, learn about safeguarding within the team and to answer any questions.

KEY TASKS 

• Travel to the participant’s home or a mutually agreed location nearby; meet them outside 

• Supporting a participant to travel to and from the venue, from their home, using public transport, to ensure they get to the session with time to settle before it starts

• Wait patiently for two hours without attending the session, and then travel back to their home location at the designated time

• Report any issues or concerns to the AiH team

Help lead a vital local service supporting people across Wythenshawe when they need it most. We’re looking for a compassionate, organised and practical Foodbank Manager who can keep our day-to-day operations running smoothly while helping us build for the future.

Wythenshawe Foodbank is an independent charity and part of the Trussell network. Through our central hub and community distribution centres, we provide emergency food and support to local people facing financial hardship and crisis.

This is a varied, hands-on role at the heart of the organisation. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, you’ll coordinate activity across our foodbank sites, support our dedicated volunteers and work closely with our Warehouse Manager, referral agencies, donors and community partners.

No two days will be quite the same. You could be supporting volunteers at a distribution centre, responding to an urgent enquiry, reviewing stock levels, preparing information for trustees or representing the foodbank at a local event. You’ll need to be comfortable balancing people, practical operations and administration, while always ensuring that everyone who uses our service is treated with dignity, empathy and respect.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating the day-to-day operation of the foodbank and its distribution centres

What we’re looking for: We opened our first charity shop in Stroud town centre in November 2024 with all funds raised going to help care for the cats and dogs at our rescue centre.

You could volunteer on the shop floor, welcoming and chatting to customers, serving them on the till, and helping with their questions, as well as making sure the shop floor is well stocked and looking its best. This role is ideal for someone who likes meeting new people and having a chat. As you will be on the shop floor, good communication skills and a friendly manner is essential. Some customer service experience and experience using a till and taking payments would be preferred, but training will be provided.

If you prefer a back of shop role, this could be helping with sorting and preparing donations, researching donated items, creating displays and making sure the shop and stock room are clean and tidy. This could be the role for you if you are organised with an eye for detail.

When you can help: Our shop is open 9am-5pm Tuesday-Saturday. Volunteers usually offer a morning or afternoon, but you are welcome to stay for the whole day. We can be flexible with times, so do get in touch if you would like to discuss a different shift pattern.

What we're looking for: A friendly face to welcome visitors and animals to our rescue centre in Whitminster, answering their questions, and directing them to the appropriate member of staff. You will also help make sure the Teckels shop is well stocked, clean and tidy, and looks its best.

This role is ideal for someone with excellent customer service and communication skills, able to deal with a wide range of people visiting in person or over the phone. An eye for detail is helpful for processing admin and making bookings.

Our rescue centre can get very busy, so it is important you are comfortable working in a fast paced environment and have the ability to multi task. You may be the first person someone meets at Teckels, so you will need to be polite, helpful, understanding and discreet, able to handle sensitive situations.

When you can help: We are looking for Welcome Volunteers on a Wednesday and Sunday afternoon, and all day Saturday

From elderly moggies to energetic kittens, every day across the UK cats and kittens are in need of a temporary place to stay, and lots of love and TLC! We need more fosterers like you to provide a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens and provide them with everything they need before they get their chance to land on their four paws and make a house a home.

• Ensure you have all you need in place to foster the cat(s) in your care, for example equipment and food
• Cover all your foster cats’ expenses and agreed out-of-pocket expenses in line with our Expenses Policy

A bit more information about this role and the team

Fosterers open their hearts and homes, looking after cats until they’re adopted.

To be a fosterer:

• you will require your own home, or written permission from your landlord to foster cats
• to be 18 years or older
• experience of caring for pets or a willingness to learn about care care. We can provide all the training and support you need 
• a good-sized room in your house just for your foster cat, or a garden or suitable outdoor space where we can put an outdoor pen 
• access to transport to take your cat to any appointments 

What we need from you 

• A stable, safe and compassionate environment in your home or in a purpose-built pen in your garden provided by us
• Enrich the cats’ experience in care including play, exercise and appropriate handling/interaction
• A willingness to complete some training in order to provide high standards of cat welfare
• Introduce cats to prospective adopters so they can find their forever home

Time expectation

Our volunteer fosterers usually spend around one and a half hours per day (around 10 to 13 hours per week) in this role, but this might vary depending on the number of cats or kittens in care.
