Fitzrovia Youth in Action (FYA), a dynamic youth action charity in the heart of London, is seeking passionate and committed individuals to join our Board of Trustees. For over 25 years, we've empowered disadvantaged young people to lead positive change, enhance their skills, and actively shape their communities in and around Camden and Westminster.

We're at an exciting point in our development, with ambitious plans outlined in our 2025–2028 Strategic Plan. Our vision is clear: a society where young people confidently fulfill their potential and actively inspire community action.

Who We're Looking For:
We're keen to welcome trustees with expertise in:

• Legal (compliance, risk management, governance)
• HR (organizational development, workforce planning)
• Business Development (expanding networks and partnerships)
• Charity Growth (program scaling, sustainability)
• Fundraising (income generation strategies)

Previous board experience is beneficial but not essential. We highly value fresh perspectives, strong interpersonal skills, and a collaborative spirit.

We would especially welcome applications from individuals with connections to Camden and Westminster, as these are our core areas of operation. We are also keen to hear from people from disadvantaged backgrounds, underrepresented groups, and from former users and ambassadors of FYA.

Time Commitment:

• Four Board meetings annually (1.5 hours, held in-person)
• Four Subcommittee meetings annually (1–1.5 hours, held online)
• Two strategy evenings annually (1.5–2 hours, held in-person)

Trustee terms are three years, renewable up to nine years.

Could you help a troubled teenager thrive?

Are you the kind of person who feels helpless when you see negative news stories about young people, or perhaps when you watched the new Adolescence drama series about teenagers and the pressures they face from social media?

The fact that you care when you see or hear these things and feel the need to help could mean that you would make a perfect volunteer mentor for a young person struggling with life as a teenager. 

At Hope After Harm our New Leaf Young Peoples’ project offers a lifeline to vulnerable young people in the Thames Valley Area through our trained volunteers who offer support and guidance when they need it.

All we ask of you is your time. Just commit to one or two hours a week to meet the young person at their school for up to 16 weeks, and to be available to them by telephone at hours agreed between you and them. 

The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

What we need from you

• supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers
• planning fundraising events and activities with your team
• allocating tasks before and during fundraising events
• keeping financial records from fundraising events
• encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 
• following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

Time expectation

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Volunteering for Sense

Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone

Without the passionate and committed teams of volunteers across Cats Protection we wouldn’t be able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us for help. The purpose of this role is to support the organisation with communications and administration at a local level. You’ll play an active part in the branch committee and support the branch with record keeping and planning, thus enabling more cats to be helped.

What we need from you

• Disseminating relevant organisation-wide information and updates to the branch volunteers
• Supporting engagement and communication between the branch and wider organisation
• Drafting committee meeting agendas and taking and sharing meeting minutes
• Supporting the efficient running of the branch by ensuring administration processes are carried out effectively
• Supporting the administration and update of the branch annual plan 
• Sign-posting queries from members of the public
• Keeping branch records and information up to date and secure, using Cats Protection systems – training will be provided

Time expectation

Our support volunteers usually spend 2-5 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

Our existing 12 trustees bring a variety of skills and experiences, such as fundraising, safeguarding, finance and investments and lived RAF experience to the Fund. Your background, skills and experience will further enhance this for the benefit of the RAF Family.

The successful candidates will:

About the Role:

We’re looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers to support our pantry and community space on any of the following days:

Mondays & Saturdays:

• Receive stock. 

• Stock counting and repackaging

• Organising food and storage areas

Sundays you can join one of the teams that are responsible for the following:

• Welcoming the students.

• Preparing and serving teas/coffees and light snacks.

• Setting up for the pantry by putting out shelves and produce.

• Packing away at the end of the day.

A bit about this role

Our publicity team leaders have the important role of supporting a wider team of publicity volunteers. As a team our publicity volunteers collectively keep members of the public informed of the vital and varied ways we help our feline friends in need. Raising awareness is crucial to us being able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us. A higher profile can help raise funds, raise awareness of adopting a cat, promote neutering and encourage as many people as possible to learn about feline welfare. 

What can you expect to be doing? 

• Communicating with others including newsletter, social networking and website volunteers
• Advising others on the content of newsletters and web posts
• Interacting with others to make sure information is positive, accurate and consistent
• Liaising with your volunteer group and our National Cat Centre to organise media campaigns
• Responding to local media requests if required 

What are the benefits to you and the cats?

You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens by supporting other publicity volunteers in their roles and raising awareness of Cats Protection. You will also meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.

We’re looking for someone with

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Good IT skills
• Editorial skills and experience in PR and marketing (would be an advantage) 
• Committee volunteers need to be aged 18+

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 
• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations
• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press
• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork
• championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
• photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

From elderly moggies to energic kittens, every day across the UK cats and kittens are in need of a temporary place to stay, and lots of love and TLC! We need more fosterers like you to provide a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens and provide them with everything they need before they get their chance to land on their four paws and make a house a home.

Time expectation

Our volunteer fosterers usually spend around one and a half hours per day (around 10 to 13 hours per week) in this role, but this might vary depending on the number of cats or kittens in care.

The Northern Devon Branch are in need of new committee members and specifically a Branch Secretary. 

The committee plan and coordinate various activities for people affected by Parkinson's across a wide area of North Devon. Activities range from exercise to social get togethers, coffee mornings and trips.

Committee members are expected to try and attend monthly meetings in the Bideford area and to contribute to group discussion and decision making. 

The secretary role entails communicating details of planned activities with our members via email or post and providing communication and admin support to the Chair of the branch. Other committee members manage the newsletter, memberships, social media and meeting agenda and minutes so this is not an extensive role but it is important and keeps members up to date with activities and any notices.

You will be volunteering as part of a team for Parkinson's UK and will be supported by a local staff contact and the rest of the committee. 

If you are interested in giving something back in your local community and supporting the lives of people affected by Parkinson's we would really love to hear from you. 

Days: Primarily Sundays (flexible hours during the week)
Time Commitment: Approx. 3–4 hours/week (flexible)

Are you a creative storyteller with a passion for social media and community impact? We're looking for a Social Media Volunteer to help amplify our work, celebrate our community, and boost awareness of our pantry project.

About the Role:

As our Social Media Volunteer, you’ll play a key role in capturing and sharing the heart of what we do. Your work will help us connect with the wider community, attract more support, and celebrate the impact of our volunteers and services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and implement engaging ways to showcase our pantry project and community stories

• Maintain and grow our presence on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook

• Produce live social media content from the pantry (photos, videos, stories, interviews, etc.)

• Develop content ideas and campaigns to increase reach and engagement

Our Cat Welfare Support volunteers typically volunteer for two to four hours per week. This role is flexible and can fit around your other commitments.

A higher profile can help us raise the funds we need for our work, ensure people know they can adopt a cat from us, help promote neutering and help as many people as possible learn more about feline welfare.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Promoting the work of Cats Protection through various social media channels, for example, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
• Gathering information from across the organisation and locally within your team or volunteer group
• Writing and creating social media content, ensuring it complies with policies and guidelines
• Scheduling and posting social media content
• Monitoring activity and responding to comments on social media channels

What are the benefits to you and the cats?

You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge, and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens by raising the profile of Cats Protection through social media. You will also meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.
