Purpose of Volunteer Role Pain Concern is looking for a highly motivated, hard-working candidate seeking entry into financial accounting. For the right candidate, this is a chance to boost your CV whilst doing something worthwhile. Previous post-holders have gone on to gain employment in the finance industry. As a member of Pain Concern’s finance team, you will assist our management team. By joining us you will join a fast-growing and respected service. The location is Pain Concern’s office in Edinburgh.
The successful candidate will probably be educated in accounts to HNC or up to degree level. Previous experience or training is not necessary. We are looking for a willingness to learn, commitment to accuracy and attention to detail. Knowledge of Sage while useful, is not essential. It is a part-time unpaid position of between 4 to 6 hours per week with a minimum commitment of 6 months.
Tasks include: 1. Maintaining financial records. 2. Processing customer and supplier transactions. 3. Processing bank transactions 4. Allocating income and expenditure against funds and projects 5. Month-end procedures: ▪ Bank reconciliation ▪ Project reports ▪ Aged creditor and debtor reports ▪ Trial balance 6. Administrative tasks associated with financial records. 7. Attending team meetings.

Some writing will be involved, but the focus for this role is on ‘editing’ rather than ‘journalism.’ As a member of Pain Concern’s editorial team, you will assist our Managing Editor. We are looking for trained Clinical Supervisors who have been practising for over 3 years to lead supervision sessions with our volunteer Mentors. We hold these bi-weekly in groups of 3-4 over lunchtime or evenings online.
What will you be doing?
All Been There Mentors who work with our Mentees have monthly group supervision. Usually there are four volunteers in a group. Supervision can take place in person or on zoom.
Commit to supervising a minimum of two groups per month (approx 5 hours in total).

Thyroid UK is a charitable company working primarily within the United Kingdom. Formed in 1998, we became a company limited by guarantee in 2007 and in 2008 we became a registered charity.

Role
We are looking for a trustee who will support and provide advice on Thyroid UK’s purpose, vision, goals and activities. Their duties include:
· Approve operational strategies & policies and monitor/evaluate their implementation.
· Review/approve Thyroid UK’s financial plans, statements and budgets, and evaluate progress.
· Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.
· Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
· Support Thyroid UK’s CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.
· Hold the chief executive to account for the effective management and delivery of the organisation’s strategic aims and objectives, where appropriate

As a small charity, there will be times when the trustees will need to be actively involved beyond board meetings. The role will require a time commitment of an average of 1 to 2 days per month, with more time required in some months than others. Term of office
The term of a thyroid UK trustee is two years, following which the Trustees may re-elect the position for a further one or two term(s).
Remuneration
Thyroid UK is a charitable, not-for-profit organisation. Trustee roles are not remunerated. However, reasonable expenses for travel can be paid for those not living in London.

Across the UK, our 270 local groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS. They provide sense of belonging, unity and friendship. And they deliver services and support for their local MS community.
We are looking to recruit an Administration Volunteer for the South West Bucks Group. Our Administration Volunteers are the linchpin for our local groups’ activities. They act as the first point of contact and they make sure all relevant information is circulated to other volunteers and members. And they play an important role in keeping our data and details up to date to comply with data protection legislation.
In this role you’ll develop your administration and organisation skills. Most importantly you’ll be help your local group run efficiently, so they can keep providing valuable services to our MS community.
Time Commitment
We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.

· Helping a patient to put some techniques into practice that may help with day to day activities.
· Helping someone to mobilise
Other activities include;
· Attending a joint visit with the therapist to be introduced to the patient and the exercises they will be doing.
· Dealing sensitively and politely with patients that you visit at home.
· Respect that you are in someone’s home and acting appropriately.
· Arranging further visits as agreed with the patient and the therapist within agreed hours.
· Promoting rehabilitation in all of your interactions with both patients and their families.
· Contacting the Living Well at Home team prior to and directly after a visit to ensure your safety at all times.
· Complete the visit report and submit it to the Living Well at Home team on the same day as the visit.
You will not be involved in the following;
· Toileting or personal care.

Training and support provided
• An Introduction to Supporting People at End of Life training, date to be confirmed.
• Staff and volunteer induction training (covering all mandatory training)
• Living Well at Home Project training. Up to 1 day, at the Sydenham site or by zoom, depending on your availability. (Training is flexible at present and we will try and fit in with your availability)
• Ongoing informal training specific to the patient that you are visiting
• Monthly supervision sessions with the Living Well at Home team.
• Contact with the Living Well at Home team for support or questions regarding the patient/family at any time during working hours.
• Reasonable travel expenses will be paid
• Support from the Volunteering team including a regular e-newsletter
• Volunteer handbook and volunteer workbook
• Regular updates and training through MyImpact

· Approachable and friendly and able to get on well with people of many different backgrounds
· Caring and committed to help improve the quality of life for our patients
· Able to work in a professional manner with patients who have a terminal illness
· Capable of completing entries in patient files and updating other written documents as instructed
· Enthusiastic about learning and keen to develop new skills
· Reliable and can be flexible in the offer of time
• Able to follow our policies and procedures to keep you, our staff, our patients and our customers safe
• Able to represent St Christopher’s and our values positively.

• There is a short settling in period to see if the role is right for you
• This role will require pre-volunteering checks, which will include a DBS Check. Having a criminal conviction will not necessarily prevent you from volunteering with us. Every situation is assessed on an individual basis.
• At St Christopher’s we believe that no volunteer should be out of pocket because of their volunteering. The reimbursement of reasonable out of pocket expenses incurred whilst volunteering will help ensure volunteering is accessible.
Commitment to volunteering
Signing up to be a volunteer with St Christopher’s Hospice is a big commitment and requires lots of training and support from the organisation. With this in mind, ideally you would be able to volunteer with us for a minimum of a year. We would also ask that you to inform your manager if you are unable to attend your shift with as much notice as possible.

We are looking to recruit a Fundraising Volunteer for the Croydon Group. As our Fundraising Volunteer you’ll support your Group Coordinator to organise local fundraising activities and events throughout the year.
In this role you’ll be able to develop your organisation, communication and team working skills.Most importantly you’ll inspire your local community to raise funds that help make sure no one has to face MS alone.
Time Commitment
We estimate this role will need around 2 hours a week. Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on your activities. This is an ongoing role.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be confident using Microsoft Office, the internet and email. You’ll be able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices and understand and apply our risk management system. Ideally you’ll understand the local area and organisations that provide local services.
You will be reliable and easy to contact and you need to live in or near the area the group to carry out this role.
