Job description

Our Activities Volunteers use their can do attitude to enable people with MS to participate in local group activities by providing practical support at the event.

We’re the MS Society – a community of people living with MS, scientists, campaigners, listeners, organisers, ambassadors and fundraisers. Our volunteers are a key part of achieving our goals and their support is vital. Join us.

About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit an Activities Organiser for the Hillingdon Group. As an Activities Organiser, you will be to bringing together our MS community through engaging and accessible activities.

We are a small and friendly group of volunteers who plan and coordinate opportunities and support for people affected by MS. We are particularly keen for someone to help us establish activities in the borough as well as organising outings and social events to reach out to people affected by MS. We are also keen to initiate opportunities for younger people to meet informally.

Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary but we estimate 2-3 hours each week in planning/coordinating new activities and communicating with the Group Coordinator and the rest of coordinating team, plus 2-3 hours a month attending the monthly team meeting. We provide you with an induction, going support and reimburse your travel expenses.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

About you
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers.

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and be willing to take the lead in establishing new activities in the area. You’ll be able to work well in a team and willing to learn and implement our health and safety processes.You may also know of local community organisations and be able to build relationships with them.

You must live in or near the Hillingdon area to carry out this role.
