Job description

RANGER CADETS — ASSISTANT CHIEF RANGER (VOLUNTEER ROLE, x2)

  • Support the Deputy Chief Ranger.
  • Strengthen the leadership team.
  • Help build a new youth organisation for young people across the UK.

Ranger Cadets is launching — a fresh, modern, community‑focused uniformed youth organisation with a powerful mission:

To show young people that they can be active citizens, leaders in their communities, and positive forces for change.

We’re building something bold. Something meaningful. Something that gives young people a place to belong, grow and contribute.

To make this vision real, the Deputy Chief Ranger needs two strong, reliable, energising partners — Assistant Chief Rangers who can help lead, organise, support and inspire.

If you love teamwork… If you thrive in start‑up energy… If you want to help build something meaningful from day one… This role is for you.

THE VOLUNTEER ROLE: Assistant Chief Ranger

  • Be the Deputy’s right hand.
  • Drive operations.
  • Support the launch.

As Assistant Chief Ranger, you will be part of the core leadership team shaping Ranger Cadets from the ground up. You will help turn ideas into action, plans into programmes, and values into lived experiences.

You will:

  • Support the Deputy Chief Ranger in day‑to‑day operations.

  • Help coordinate volunteers, youth leaders and unit teams.

  • Assist in building new units, structures and systems.

  • Ensure programme quality and consistency across activities.

  • Support community partnerships and public engagement.

  • Help organise events, service projects and cadet activities.

  • Be a visible, positive leader at sessions and community events.

  • Bring energy, clarity and teamwork to a growing organisation.

This is a hands‑on leadership role — practical, people‑focused, and full of purpose.

You won’t just support the Deputy Chief Ranger. You’ll help build the organisation alongside them.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

Ranger Cadets is at the beginning of its journey — and the early leadership team will shape everything:

  • The culture

  • The programme

  • The partnerships

  • The volunteer experience

  • The cadet experience

  • The future

Your leadership will help create a youth organisation that:

  • Builds confidence

  • Develops skills

  • Connects young people to their community

  • Teaches leadership through action

  • Gives young people a place to belong and grow

You will help build something that lasts.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Someone who:

  • Enjoys teamwork and collaboration.

  • Has natural leadership qualities.

  • Can organise people, plans and priorities.

  • Stays calm, positive and solution‑focused.

  • Believes youth organisations should be modern, inclusive and community‑driven.

  • Wants to help build a new uniformed youth organisation from scratch.

  • Can inspire volunteers and young people.

  • Loves being part of something meaningful.

You don’t need formal leadership qualifications. You don’t need youth work experience. You just need commitment, heart and a desire to make a difference.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN

  • A leadership role with real influence.

  • Experience building a youth organisation from scratch.

  • Opportunities to shape systems, culture and community impact.

  • A chance to mentor volunteers and young leaders.

  • The satisfaction of knowing your leadership is changing lives.

  • A legacy — your work will help define Ranger Cadets for years to come.

This is a role that stands out. This is a role that matters.

BE PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER

Ranger Cadets is built on values of courage, kindness, leadership and community. When you volunteer with us, you become part of a movement that believes in young people and invests in their future.

  • Your leadership will help us reach them.
  • Your guidance will inspire them.
  • Your commitment will empower them.

READY TO HELP LEAD SOMETHING NEW?

If your heart beats faster reading this… If you can already picture the organisation you’ll help build… If you want to support the Deputy Chief Ranger and shape the future…

We want to hear from you.

  • Join Ranger Cadets.
  • Lead with purpose.
  • Support with passion.
  • Help build the future.
