Job description

RANGER CADETS — DEPUTY CHIEF RANGER (VOLUNTEER ROLE)

  • Stand beside the Chief Ranger.
  • Lead the launch.
  • Shape a movement.

Ranger Cadets is a brand‑new, modern, community‑driven uniformed youth organisation with a powerful mission:

To show young people that they can be active citizens, leaders in their communities, and positive forces for change.

We’re building something fresh. Something meaningful. Something that gives young people a place to belong, grow and contribute.

To make this vision real, the Chief Ranger needs a partner — a second‑in‑command with heart, clarity, leadership energy and a passion for community impact.

If you thrive in start‑up environments… If you love building systems, teams and culture… If you want to help launch a youth organisation that will change lives… This role is calling you.

THE VOLUNTEER ROLE: Deputy Chief Ranger

  1. Lead with purpose.
  2. Support with strength.
  3. Build with vision.

As Deputy Chief Ranger, you will be a key leader in the organisation. You will help shape the culture, the programme, the volunteer experience and the cadet journey.

You will:

  • Support the Chief Ranger in running and managing Ranger Cadets day‑to‑day.

  • Help design and deliver a youth programme rooted in community action and active citizenship.

  • Build early units, volunteers and youth leadership pathways.

  • Lead by example at events, activities and community projects.

  • Support safeguarding, inclusion and organisational standards.

  • Help create systems that make the organisation safe, modern and effective.

  • Mentor volunteers and young leaders as the organisation grows.

  • Be a visible ambassador for our values and mission.

This is not a passive role. This is leadership. This is influence. This is impact.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

Ranger Cadets is at the beginning of its journey — and the early leaders will define everything:

  • The culture

  • The programme

  • The partnerships

  • The community impact

  • The volunteer experience

  • The cadet experience

  • The future

Your leadership will help create a youth organisation that:

  • Empowers young people to care about their communities.

  • Builds confidence, resilience and purpose.

  • Teaches leadership through action.

  • Shows young people they matter.

  • Gives them a place to belong and grow.

You will help build something that lasts — something that changes lives.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Someone who:

  • Has natural leadership energy.

  • Believes young people can be active citizens and community changemakers.

  • Enjoys organising people, plans and priorities.

  • Can stay calm, clear and positive under pressure.

  • Loves teamwork, collaboration and community engagement.

  • Wants to help build a youth organisation from the ground up.

  • Can inspire volunteers and young people alike.

  • Is excited by the idea of shaping a brand‑new movement.

You don’t need formal qualifications. You don’t need youth work experience. You just need passion, commitment and a desire to make a difference.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN

  • A leadership role with real influence.

  • Experience building a youth organisation from scratch.

  • Opportunities to shape culture, systems and community impact.

  • A chance to mentor volunteers and young leaders.

  • The satisfaction of knowing your leadership is changing lives.

  • A legacy — your work will help define Ranger Cadets for years to come.

This is a role that stands out. This is a role that matters.

BE PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER

Ranger Cadets is built on values of courage, kindness, leadership and community. When you volunteer with us, you become part of a movement that believes in young people and invests in their future.

  • Your leadership will help us reach them.
  • Your guidance will inspire them.
  • Your commitment will empower them.

READY TO HELP LEAD SOMETHING NEW?

If your heart beats faster reading this… If you can already picture the organisation you’ll help build… If you want to stand beside the Chief Ranger and shape the future…

We want to hear from you.

  • Join Ranger Cadets.
  • Lead with purpose.
  • Build with passion.
  • Shape the future.
