Job description

RANGER CADETS — VOLUNTEERING TEAM (VOLUNTEER ROLE)

  • Build the volunteer programme.
  • Shape the culture.
  • Power the movement.

Ranger Cadets is launching across England — a bold, modern, community‑driven uniformed youth organisation with a mission:

To empower young people to become active citizens, confident leaders and positive forces in their communities.

To make this mission real, we need a Volunteering Team — the heartbeat of the organisation. The team that brings people in, supports them, inspires them and keeps them engaged. The team that builds the volunteer experience from day one.

If you love organising… If you enjoy working with people… If you want to help build a national volunteering programme… This role is calling you.

THE VOLUNTEER ROLE: Volunteering Team

  • Recruit.
  • Support.
  • Engage.
  • Empower.

As part of the Volunteering Team, you will lead on the creation, development and organisation of the entire volunteering programme at Ranger Cadets.

You will:

  • Build and manage our volunteer recruitment pipeline.

  • Create role descriptions, adverts and outreach strategies.

  • Lead on volunteer selection and onboarding.

  • Ensure volunteers feel welcomed, supported and valued.

  • Develop engagement systems that keep volunteers active and informed.

  • Work with leadership to ensure volunteers have what they need to succeed.

  • Help shape a positive, inclusive volunteer culture.

  • Support retention, recognition and volunteer wellbeing.

  • Be the friendly, organised, energising force behind our volunteer community.

Your work will ensure Ranger Cadets has the people power to grow, thrive and make a difference.

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

Ranger Cadets is volunteer‑run. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the organisation. Without them, nothing happens.

Your leadership will help create a volunteering programme that:

  • Attracts passionate, committed people.

  • Supports volunteers from their first day to their hundredth.

  • Builds a culture of kindness, teamwork and purpose.

  • Ensures every volunteer feels valued and informed.

  • Helps units, leaders and cadets succeed.

  • Powers the entire organisation from the ground up.

You won’t just be organising volunteers. You’ll be building the foundation of a national movement.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Someone who:

  • Loves organising people, plans and processes.

  • Enjoys meeting new people and building relationships.

  • Has strong communication and coordination skills.

  • Can stay calm, positive and solution‑focused.

  • Believes volunteers deserve support, recognition and clarity.

  • Wants to help build a volunteering programme from scratch.

  • Thrives in teamwork and collaboration.

  • Has a passion for youth development and community impact.

You don’t need HR experience. You don’t need qualifications. You just need commitment, organisation and heart.

WHAT YOU’LL GAIN

  • Experience building a volunteer programme for a national youth organisation.

  • Opportunities to shape recruitment, onboarding and engagement systems.

  • A chance to support volunteers and help them thrive.

  • Real‑world experience in volunteer management and organisational development.

  • The satisfaction of knowing your work is powering a movement.

  • A legacy — your systems will support thousands of volunteers in the future.

This is a role that stands out. This is a role that matters.

BE PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER

Ranger Cadets is built on values of courage, kindness, leadership and community. When you volunteer with us, you become part of a movement that believes in young people and invests in their future.

Your organisation will help volunteers succeed. Your support will inspire them. Your leadership will empower them.

READY TO BUILD THE VOLUNTEERING PROGRAMME?

If your heart beats faster reading this… If you can already picture the systems you’ll build… If you want to help create a volunteering programme that changes lives…

We want to hear from you.

  • Join the Volunteering Team.
  • Organise with purpose.
  • Support with passion.
  • Help build the future.
