URBAN YOUTH — FOUNDING TREASURER WANTED
Help build the financial scaffolding for London’s next generation.
Postcodes shouldn’t be destinies. URBAN YOUTH is a volunteer-powered movement disrupting traditional youth work by delivering high-impact, urban-style scaffolding for young Londoners. No red tape. No waiting lists. No corporate youth centres. Just raw opportunity, dropped directly into the heart of the city.
We will transform empty shops, concrete cages, community centres and street-side studios into pop-up hubs of creativity, culture and skill-building — all delivered for free, all powered by volunteers, all designed to open doors that have been closed for too long.
We’re now building our Founding Board of Trustees — leaders who want to shape a charity that moves at street-speed, reaches young people where they are, and delivers impact without bureaucracy.
This is not a passive governance role. This is hands-on, start-up, foundation-setting leadership.
If you’ve ever wanted to help build a charity that actually disrupts the cycle, this is your moment.
Your Role as Founding Treasurer
As our Treasurer, you will be the financial backbone of Urban Youth’s start-up phase — helping us build the systems, controls and financial clarity needed to scale our pop-up model across London.
You will:
-
Lead on financial oversight, ensuring transparency, compliance and sustainability
-
Help establish start-up accounting systems, processes and reporting structures
-
Guide us through charity registration, financial governance and regulatory requirements
-
Support the Board in making strategic financial decisions
-
Oversee budgeting, cashflow planning and financial risk management
-
Ensure every penny donated goes directly to the street, not bureaucracy
-
Provide clear financial information that empowers the Board to make strong decisions
Your leadership will help ensure Urban Youth grows with stability, integrity and long-term impact.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re particularly keen to hear from individuals with:
-
UK Accounting experience (essential)
-
Experience in charity finance, financial governance or non-profit accounting
-
Knowledge of Charity Commission requirements, financial controls and annual reporting
-
Experience setting up financial systems in start-up or scaling organisations
-
Confidence in budgeting, forecasting and financial risk management
We also welcome candidates with:
-
Previous trustee or governance experience
-
Understanding of youth work, youth development or community services
-
A strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
If you believe in radical access, zero bureaucracy and real-world impact, you’ll fit right in.
Why Join URBAN YOUTH?
Joining our Board is both a responsibility and a rare opportunity to create lasting social impact for young Londoners.
You will:
-
Help tackle social inequalities affecting young people across the city
-
Influence the strategic direction of a disruptive, high-energy start-up charity
-
Develop leadership, governance and board-level experience
-
Work alongside a passionate, collaborative Board and volunteer squad
-
Support a charity that delivers pop-up impact at scale, not static services
We are committed to building a diverse Board that reflects the communities we serve and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds aged 18+.
Ready to Build the Scaffolding?
If you share our belief that every young person deserves raw opportunity, real access and a future they can shape — we’d love to hear from you.
Closing Date: 6pm, Friday 11th September 2026
Interviews: Week commencing 14th September 2026
Urban Youth is committed to safer recruitment and safeguarding. All successful trustee applicants will be required to complete a DBS check.
