This is a hugely exciting opportunity to join Gloucester Cathedral as it enters a key period of development. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and highly skilled individual to oversee our small but busy fundraising function, helping to develop and implement our Fundraising Strategy and deliver Cathedral’s Development Plan. You will oversee the depth and breadth of our Fundraising and Development activities, which includes the day-to-day running of the team, delivering our ambitious In Tune Campaign, leading on the development of future capital campaigns and looking after a portfolio of high value donors. You will also play an instrumental role in further developing new relationships with major donors.

We’re looking for a high performing team player with great communication skills, adaptability and an innovative approach to achieving ambitious fundraising targets of circ. £1.5m per year. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team you will help to deliver the Cathedral’s strategic vision and will be responsible for ensuring that our welcome values are lived out on a daily basis through the way that we engage with donors, supporters and partners.

You’ll be working closely with teams across the Cathedral - including our Music Team, Clergy, and Learning & Participation team - so the ability to form positive relationships with various stakeholders is crucial.

The ideal candidate will have:

· At least five years’ experience of working in a heritage or visitor attractions leadership role, with a proven track record of securing and growing income, delivering large scale fundraising campaigns and working with major donors

· Experience of line-managing and leading a staff team at a senior level

· Excellent time management and the ability to balance numerous priorities and deadlines

About Us

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. Gaining a driving licence greatly enhances their future employability prospects and helps break the cycle of re-offending. Additionally, our UR4Jobs project focusses on both client wellbeing and breaking down the many barriers to employment faced by disadvantaged people every day.

The role

Is an exciting new edition to the TUR team, created to capitalise on the fact that the number of businesses in our catchment area is 45000+, but we’re not trying to talk to all of them, just target a few – ideally by gaining referrals and recommendations. So the job is to proactively find those local businesses happy to talk to us, understand what they might be looking for by partnering with a charity, share our brilliant story along with the business case (which is strong) for them to get involved with us in some way. We have made an excellent start, we already have a small number of great corporate partners, and this job is about taking it all on to the next level. As you would expect the role is about creating contacts, networking, maximising the face-to-face time with prospective partners and where possible gaining referrals. And, ultimately this is all because, the bigger our portfolio of corporate partners all feeling great about their involvement with us, the more able we are to raise the funds we need to keep up with an ever-increasing demand for our services.

About You

You live within - or know well, West/Central London, you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the product or service you’re talking about. You have a CV that demonstrates solid experience in a comparable role in a ‘business-to-business’ environment, a role - the success of which, is dependent on the levels of energy and proactivity you provide. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Branch Development Manager to join our field operations team. As an Area Branch Development Manager you will be accountable for the development, growth and local governance of branches within a designated area. Providing a solution-driven approach with the aim of helping more cats through the effective engagement of local volunteers. You will develop and deliver an area plan that captures the importance of volunteer engagement, recruitment, support, enabling and succession planning to ultimately achieve branch growth and sustainability. You will work collaboratively with other CP regional teams where appropriate, identifying where there are opportunities to achieve more by working together.

About the role

This is an exciting role within the Volunteering Team. You’ll have responsibility for designing and piloting Shelter’s financial resilience volunteer programme in Leeds as well as supporting our nationwide volunteering programme. We’ll rely on you to use best practice volunteer management to design and pilot volunteering journeys from attraction, recruitment and training all the way through to ongoing support and exit. You’ll also be leading on evaluating the pilot and adapting our approaches based on learnings. Duties Include:

Fundraising and project development:

· Lead the implementation of Bexley Mencap’s Fundraising Strategy; reviewing existing fundraising strategies, identifying opportunities for development and introducing innovative strategies to achieve fundraising goals. 

· Research and pursue new funding opportunities; including grants, legacies and social enterprise/earned income opportunities.

You'll be responsible for the Business Partnering of some strategically important areas across the Group, supporting them to deliver their financial targets by developing trusted relationships and working alongside ELT members and budget holders to produce their finance model, annual budget and termly forecasts.

You'll influence and negotiate with senior colleagues and provide technical and strategic insight to ensure AaA reaches its financial targets. • Can rapidly build understanding in a complex new environment and who can work independently, exercising judgement while not under close supervision;
• Has knowledge and experience of strategic finance and business planning;
• Has either knowledge of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) (FRS 102) 2019, or knowledge of IFRS or FRS102 and the ability to quickly learn the differences under the SORP (with support from colleagues); and
• Has proven experience of working closely with stakeholders at varying level of seniority.

As the StreetDoctors Youth Worker in the Region, you will deliver high quality training, develop new partnerships and maintain positive relationships.

• To deliver training sessions to young people and partners to required quantity and quality, and support the development, testing and implementation of new training content. 

• To create, develop and maintain partnerships with a range of organisations including, funders, commissioners, community organisations, criminal justice organisations, education providers and youth organisations.

The role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative and versatile finance business partner to join us at this time of growth. Reporting to Head of Finance, and working alongside other Finance Business Partners, you will be responsible for providing your financial expertise and support to our key stakeholders, playing an important part in enabling us to meet our ambitious strategy.

Main areas of responsibility

Business partnering:

• Provide a high-quality financial support to the nominated internal stakeholders. These may vary and will include some of the following: Food, Supply Chain & Logistics teams, Network Partner support, Operational centres (warehouses) and Support functions.
• Deliver monthly management accounts and KPI reporting for the nominated stakeholders. Monitor spend and provide financial insight and expertise to drive the delivery in line with FareShare’s strategic direction.
• Collaborate with the nominated internal stakeholders to develop and manage budgets and forecasts.
• Enhance financial reporting and analysis and develop KPI capabilities for the nominated stakeholders.
• Coach budget holders on finance systems and processes to develop effective budget management and controls.
• Provide cover for other Finance Business Partners when required, mainly around month end processes and management account reporting.

Financial accounting:

• Involvement in month end processes: produce month end journals, conduct balance sheet reconciliations for the nominated business centres.
• Support with the development and monitoring compliance of the financial policies and processes and controls.
• Oversee financial aspects of grants, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting to funders.

People and / or project management:

• Provide financial guidance and support to the finance transactional team.
• Line manage (or dotted line management responsibilities, dependant on experience) the finance offices in the operational centres (warehouses).
• Lead on process improvements in the business areas of responsibility.
• Provide any other support as and when required.
• Some travel to the operational centres and network partners, across the UK, will be required.

Person Specification

 Skills, experience and abilities

• CIMA/ACCA/ACA fully qualified or equivalent experience
• Business partnering experience, preferably in a similar size organisation and business model. Experience in the commercial Supply Chain & Logistics industry will be of advantage.
• A good track record in managing month end processes
• Strong financial accounting background
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using a range of accounting software and financial reporting tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt a style to various stakeholders
• Ability to build effective relationships across teams, ensuring staff are supported, motivated and challenged to achieve objectives
• Line management experience will be of advantage
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to adapt and influence change
• An understanding of either the food industry and/or the logistics industry would be advantageous

Our Business Development department is integral to the success of our organisation and we are looking for an experienced, organised and driven individual to fulfil the role of Head of Business Development. 

We are looking for someone who is comfortable in leading and co-ordinating a team. You will lead and operationally manage the department in our external business development engagement activities as well as our internal, cross-departmental collaboration working towards our ‘Evolve Strategy’.
