About the Safeguarding Officer role:

The organisation has a strong safeguarding ethos promoting the overall safety, safeguarding and welfare of all of our members. We are seeking individuals who have experience of the voluntary youth or community sector or other relevant professional field and have direct practice experience of working with children & young people in a safeguarding context.  You will have experience and knowledge of statutory requirements, understand Early Help and best practice guidance, relating to the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities as our Safeguarding Officer will include:

• Assessing and managing safeguarding allegations against those involved in the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC) and concerns about the welfare of children engaged in SCC activities
• Responding appropriately  to  concerns  affecting  a  child  and  their  safety  and  welfare  and  take  appropriate and timely action.
• Supporting,  guiding  and  coaching SCC  volunteers  to  implement  a  local  response  to  safeguarding  concerns
• Making referrals to statutory agencies e.g. Local Authority Designated Officer, Police, Children’s Services, Social Care or equivalent across the UK (including DBS, PVGS). 
• Attending strategy meetings,  networking meetings, external meetings etc. as required
• Operating on call duties out of office hours on a rota basis
• Being the Leading Officer on  safeguarding  enquiries,  including  writing  enquiry  report  in  preparation  for  enquiry  meetings,  supporting  volunteers  and  enquiry  officers  in  this  process,  reviewing  outcome  and  decision  making  in  conjunction  with  HoS/SM/Area  Officers/LADO/ Statutory agency. 

Requirements needed for our Safeguarding Officer:

• Support, guide and coach SCC volunteers to implement a local response to safeguarding concerns
• Effective and skilful management of an allocated caseload
• Lead professional – Allegation Management
• Action referrals to statutory agencies e.g. Local Authority Designated Officer, Police, Children’s Services, Social Care or equivalent across the UK (including DBS, PVGS)

We are recruiting for a Dementia Carers Support Officer who can make a positive difference to the lives of unpaid carers in the diverse communities of Redbridge by providing them with practical, emotional and health and wellbeing related RCSS services. Services include the development and delivery of peer social and learning activities to give carers a break and reduce the risk of acute isolation. 

The post holder will focus specifically on carers of people with dementia ensuring they receive advice and information and access key support services.  The post holder will also work closely with partner organisations to facilitate cross referrals for both the carer and the person with dementia.  A key requirement of the post is to feed into local strategic work to improve the support pathway for people with dementia and their carers including being a point of contact within Redbridge as well as attendance and input to relevant partnership boards and other working groups.

This is a job share post, working in close collaboration with the existing Dementia Support Officer. The post holder will also work with colleagues, to act as a bridge between carers and statutory services, contributing towards giving carers a stronger voice in speaking up for themselves and their peers. In this context and in collaboration with the Operations Manager and front-line staff, the post holder will also pay particular attention to the needs of older, isolated, vulnerable carers, aged 65 and over, who face social exclusion, cultural isolation, and hardship. Assisting carers to access and improve local health and social care services, thus improving the quality of their lives.

As a Logistics Officer you will play an integral role in IHP’s work arranging the shipping of donated medicines and medical supplies, for example our essential health packs and antibiotics, ensuring their secure transportation to diaster hit and vulnerable communities such as Sudan and Gaza.

Your responsibilites will include:

• ​Securing cost effective shipping quotes from some of the largest freightforwarders in the UK
• Preparing shipping documentation
• Ensuring shipping files are accurate and kept up to date
• Communicating regularly with our donor companies and receiving NGO partners
• Updating offers on our management system

- You'll have administrative/record keeping experience or demonstable transferable skills

We’re looking for a Policy Officer (or Senior Policy Officer) to help develop and promote environmental policy on behalf of our 82 environmental charity members.

The Government has promised to halt the decline of nature by 2030. This role is about making sure the urgent action needed to meet that pledge is delivered.

Your job will be to convene some of England’s best environmental policy experts to agree bold and effective shared policy positions. There will be lots of thinking, lots of writing, and lots of opportunities to shape shared campaigns. You will also play a key role in delivering those messages to key influencers in Government and in Parliament.

So, we’re looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, the ability to listen and negotiate, and a reasoned and convincing style of written and verbal communication.

About the role

Sense has a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our Engagement team as our Database Officer. This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. This role will be working flexibly between home and our office in King's Cross, London. Sitting within the Engagement Operations Team, the Data Team comprises of this role (Database Officer), Senior Database Officer whom you will work closely with, and Database Manager who is responsible for the team's activity and will delegate project tasks as required.

Working with the rest of the Data Team, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate data on Sense’s supporter database (currently The Raiser’s Edge) so that Engagement teams can liaise with their supporters in a timely and effective manner. You will take control of transferring data from our third-party suppliers to the Sense network, conducting data quality, and also conducting weekly data hygiene routines, checking that details on the database are accurate. 

Part of the role is also to carry out data selections; using a brief from an internal customer you will create queries on Raiser’s Edge to meet the criteria and then produce and supply the file to the customer. The role requires consistency and accuracy to ensure data integrity is maintained. You must show attention to detail and be adept at spotting errors whilst working in a methodical manner.

Key skills and experience

• Good understanding of relational databases, both technical knowledge and hands-on user experience
• Understanding of general business principles
• A clear understanding of data protection regulations and other regulatory frameworks
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels of the organisation

What we are looking for in our Senior Community Fundraising Officer: 

• At least 2 years’ experience of working in a professional fundraising role. 

• Experience of managing a portfolio of fundraising events for community fundraising. 

• Experience of working within a team and individually to achieve success; meeting or exceeding your financial targets. 

• Demonstrable experience of initiating cross-team working to achieve financial goals. 

• Experience of using a CRM database, such as Raiser’s Edge, Access Charity CRM, or Sales Force, to target and segment supporters. 

• Any experience of developing fundraising strategies for working with educational institutions, community fundraisers and faith groups is also desirable. 

• Ability to carry out thorough research to keep-up-to date with new fundraising opportunities. 

• Experience of managing a team. 

• Experience of maintaining and reporting against budgets and feeding into the teams KPI’s. 

• Excellent computer skills and experience using a wide range of computer packages, including Microsoft packages. 

• Excellent interpersonal, creative thinking and problem-solving skills. 

• Understanding of the role of Women’s Aid, of domestic abuse and the issues relating including the impacts on women and children.

Food Bank Aid in North London is seeking an immediately available, inspirational, entrepreneurial, collaborative strategic leader to join us for the next 6 months as our Interim CEO. You will review our operations, processes and structure to ensure we are as efficient as possible and delivering the best service to the network of 32 food banks we work with, and that we are primed for growth.

Established 4 years ago, our mission is to distribute essential items like food, toiletries, and household goods to food banks across Barnet, Brent, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, Harrow, Hertfordshire, and Islington. Through our network of 32 food banks, we support approximately 20,000 individuals, including 5,000 children, every week. With a dedicated team of 4 staff, 300 active volunteers, and an engaged board of trustees, we are a community-led charity that serves all denominations and demographics.

About the Role:

As our Interim Chief Executive Officer, you will lead the organisation, reporting directly to the Trustees through the Co-Chairs of the Board. Your primary responsibility will be to review our operations, processes, and structure to ensure maximum efficiency and top-notch service delivery. This role requires effective leadership of both staff and volunteers, along with the implementation of systems and processes to enhance our operations. You will need to balance day-to-day management with strategic planning, demonstrating adaptability and clear decision-making in a fast-paced environment.

Key Details:

· Role: Interim Chief Executive Officer – Food Bank Aid

· Salary: £90,000 pro rata

· Contract: 6 months, full-time role

· Start date: As soon as possible / immediate

· Location: mostly on-site at our hub in London N12

What We're Looking For:

1. Leadership: Effective management of employees, including target setting and oversight, to ensure efficient operations.

2. Governance: Working with effective partnership with trustees to ensure they can perform their responsibilities to the charity.

3. Volunteer Management: Visible and involved with volunteers on a day-to-day basis, focusing on morale, recruitment, and retention.

4. Fundraising: Implementation of strategies to improve engagement and donations from Corporates and trusts/donor entities.

5. Analysis: Using strong analytical skills to gather, examine and use data to improve systems, policies and processes.

6. Project Support: Assisting with specific projects like launching new systems, volunteer retention, and developing corporate partnerships.

7. Recruitment and Infrastructure: Determining longer-term requirements and developing a recruitment plan.

8. Hands-On Management: Willingness to work in a small team and assist with various tasks as needed.

9. Interest in Food Banks: Ideally, a demonstrable interest in the mission and work of food banks.
