What we're looking for

We need a finance-minded trustee who can keep us on the right track financially while we focus on creating real change. You don't need to be a charity expert (we'll teach you that), but you do need to care about what we're doing and have the skills to help us do it properly.

Your background might include:

• Professional experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping

• An ability to make sense of financial information and explain it to others

• Strong attention to detail (because the small stuff does matter)

• A genuine enthusiasm for our mission and charitable objects

What would be brilliant (but not essential):

• Previous charity sector experience

• Formal accounting qualifications

• Experience with charity accounting software

• Understanding of what it's like to run a small charity on a tight budget

What you'll be doing

This isn't about sitting in boardrooms making abstract decisions. You'll be:

• Keeping our finances healthy: Overseeing day-to-day financial operations and making sure our bookkeeping stays accurate

• Being our financial voice: Presenting clear, understandable financial reports at monthly trustee meetings

• Planning ahead: Leading our annual budget process and helping us make smart financial decisions

• Staying compliant: Ensuring we meet all charity financial regulations and coordinate our annual independent examination

• Managing risk: Helping us spot potential financial challenges before they become problems

• Helping with fundraising: Writing grant applications, helping come up with fundraising ideas

The need-to-know

Time commitment: Around 4-8 hours per month - this includes one monthly trustee meeting, your financial review work, and the occasional extra task that crops up

Term: We're looking for a minimum 2-year commitment initially, which then becomes a rolling 1-year term subject to the constitutional requirements. 

When we meet: We will be setting our meeting dates at the start of the organisation's year (October 2025) so everyone can plan ahead.

Why join The Humane League?

As a Campaign Volunteer, you will help us achieve change for animals by:

• Joining in-person events locally and nationally
• Including peaceful protests, public outreach and social meet-ups
• Events are organised by your local Grassroots Organiser or THL staff
• Travel and food expenses are available, to ensure as many people can attend as possible
• Taking part in campaign actions from home
• This may include writing emails and letters, making phone calls to companies, connecting with your MP and taking social media actions
• In addition to this, you can order leaflets and stickers to distribute locally for awareness raising
• And much more!

This flexible and rewarding role is perfect for those looking to make a difference for farmed animals but without a strict time commitment. Around 4-6 hours a month is the average for this role, depending on how much you choose to get involved with.

No prior experience is required, just a passion and drive to make a difference to animals. Whether you're retired, working full time, a student, or somewhere in between - we would love to welcome you.

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need to have been a trustee before – although prior experience is welcome. We're especially interested in people with skills in any of the following areas:

• Business, operations or charity leadership
• Finance or bookkeeping
• Fundraising, bid writing or donor development
• Legal expertise (especially charity or contract law)
• HR or volunteer coordination

If you're organised, thoughtful, and comfortable working as part of a small remote team, you'll fit right in. We're also keen to hear from people who have worked in community support, health and wellbeing, or have experience working with vulnerable adults in third-sector projects.

What You’ll Do as a Trustee

As a trustee, you’ll help guide the direction of CTBR UK as we continue to grow. You’ll:

• Help shape our future plans, activities and strategy
• Offer support and oversight to ensure we stay on track and legally compliant
• Use your skills and voice to improve what we do
• Work alongside our small, motivated, and friendly team

We meet a minimum of quarterly online and keep in touch where appropriate between meetings. There’s no fundraising requirement or large time commitment.

TRAFFIC is the leading non-governmental organization working globally on trade in wild animals and plants in the context of both biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. 

TRAFFIC International is a charity and limited company registered in the UK. TRAFFIC’s head office, based in Cambridge UK, provides worldwide leadership, coordination, cross-regional and corporate functions.  TRAFFIC’s local engagement is managed through programme offices operating under the auspices of the UK charity, with staff based in a hub office and at other strategic locations where necessary. Programme offices operate within a geographic area of responsibility focused on one or multiple countries where TRAFFIC aims to help deliver priority programme outcomes.  TRAFFIC works in strategic alliance with IUCN and WWF on wildlife trade issues.

TRAFFIC has developed a comprehensive trade database, that stores and analyses specific trade related information. Using this information, it is possible to understand illegal trade trends that develop. The TRAFFIC database allows for the gathering of information from source sites and along the trade chain for central collation, monitoring and analysis. Information generated from projects is an integral part of this database and capacity is needed to enter data produced under projects.

We are looking for a dedicated, highly motivated and organised Volunteer to join our Data Team starting ASAP for a minimum of 3 months. We are ideally looking for candidates available to work full time, however are open to discussion of part time.

The successful applicant will be required to be based in TRAFFIC’s Cambridge (UK) office for the duration of the Volunteering to access our database and work closely with the rest of the Data Team.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

The Data Volunteer will be responsible for inputting information generated under projects in an accurate and consistent manner into TRAFFIC’s trade database.  Data entered will enable the production of informative analysis at a later stage by TRAFFIC’s analysts.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collect and input information (some of which may be confidential/sensitive) regarding trade related enforcement actions related to projects.

Obtain existing data on seizures prosecutions from TRAFFIC staff across the globe, clean it and enter it into the database.

All information that is entered must be accurately geocoded to enable mapping exercises at a later stage.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Must be based in the UK

· Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related subject

· Minimum of six months experience with the collection and collation of data

· Experience of database software is desirable

· Excellent IT skills, particularly in Excel

· An eye for detail and a keen interest and ability to recognise connections between data

· Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team as well as independently, with respect for and sensitivity to multi-cultural approaches

· Familiarity with and an interest in conservation, particularly trade issues

· Fluency in English with excellent English writing skills, other languages would be an advantage.

Support the work of St John Ambulance in your community by volunteering as a Community Volunteer, an exciting new role which is designed to revamp how volunteering looks in the modern world; flexible, innovative and is open for all.

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient. Community Volunteers can choose from a wide selection of activities – including fundraising, talks and demonstrations, supporting at events, volunteer welfare, social media and administration support.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives.

Give as much (or little) time as you can afford. With this new role, you simply volunteer when it works for you. That means you can give as much time as you like or as little as 24 hours across a whole year, whenever it suits you. It’s perfect for busy lives, changing schedules, or for anyone seeking a low-commitment involvement.

Through volunteering as a Community Volunteer, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time.

Once we have completed your selection and screening for this role, we will provide you with an induction, as well as invite you to any necessary training sessions. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. What you can expect from SJA, and what we expect from those who volunteer with us, is included in the volunteer charter.

We require the successful candidate's to assist with the Tamworth Network in Community Engagement Events and Fundraising Events. This will involve setting up and putting away the Gazebo's, Flags, Promotional Material and Equipment. Will also include speaking to members of the public about St John and what we do, and how they can get involved and help save lives. Also could include asking people for donations at fundraising events.

When the interview has been passed and screening for the role is complete you will be invited to a short Network induction and meet the other members of the network in Tamworth. 

The Induction will take place if successful at the Interview and screening complete.

Training will be provided at Network Meeting Nights which take place Thursday Evenings 7:30 PM until 9pm Approx.

Through volunteering as a Community Volunteer, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time.

Once we have completed your selection and screening for this role, we will provide you with an induction, as well as invite you to any necessary training sessions. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. What you can expect from SJA, and what we expect from those who volunteer with us, is included in the volunteer charter.

The successful candidates would be provided with all the necessary training to support fundraising and community engagement activities.

Interviews will be conducted at our Network's headquarters in Rugby, which is easily accessible by car and public transport.

Successful candidates would be welcomed to the local branch in your area (Rugby, Nuneaton, Bedworth) by our friendly volunteers and fully supported in your new role!

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

● photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!
