Deputy Head of Programmes / Senior Youth Worker

In this role, you will combine hands-on youth work with leadership responsibilities, helping to ensure that young people receive high-quality support, opportunities and experiences that enable them to thrive.

Working closely with the Head of Programmes, you will play a key role in the planning, delivery and development of our youth services, while also leading your own areas of responsibility. Safeguarding is key to supporting young people and you will be the Deputy Desginated Safeguarding Lead.

Youth Work Leadership

You will lead the delivery of youth work sessions within our youth club programme, building positive relationships with young people and creating a safe, inclusive and engaging environment where they can develop confidence, skills and aspirations.

Caxton Youth Organisation runs three evening youth club sessions each week, and you will take the lead in the smooth running of two sessions. This will include briefing and supporting staff and volunteers, overseeing safeguarding and behaviour management, monitoring attendance and outcomes, and ensuring a high standard of youth work practice.

Deputy Head of Programmes Responsibilities

As Deputy Head of Programmes, you will support the Head of Programmes in the effective management and coordination of the youth service. This will include overseeing referrals and inductions for new young people, helping them settle into the organisation and access appropriate opportunities.

You will also coordinate holiday programmes, ensuring activities are well planned, effectively communicated and successfully delivered. Alongside the Head of Programmes, you will contribute to programme planning, quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation, supporting the continuous development of our services.

Journey to Employment Programme Lead

You will lead our Journey to Employment Programme, supporting young people to take their first steps towards education, training and employment.

Through group work, youth work activities and targeted one-to-one support, you will help young people identify their strengths, build confidence, develop employability skills and explore future opportunities. You will also establish and run a daytime drop-in service on Thursdays for young people who would benefit from additional support.

A key part of this role will be developing relationships with employers, training providers and community partners to create opportunities for young people, including workplace visits, volunteering opportunities, employability workshops and introductory work experience placements.
