The position is a dual role. You’ll join as one of three dedicated Youth Workers and will lead on a portion of Free to Be Kids’ year-round follow-on support for vulnerable young people who we have already engaged via our Thrive Outside residentials. Crucially, a core aspect of the role will be leading an average of 8-10 of our residential projects across each year - working on the ground with the children, leading the volunteers, and helping make the projects special, safe, and transformative for vulnerable young people, many of whom have complex needs. You’ll be joining a small staff team of 9, supplemented by a vibrant and committed group of volunteers.

Attendance at approximately 8-10 five-six night residential projects per year outside London is a core component of this role. A full driving licence is not required but may be an advantage.

On offer to the right candidate:

Salary: Circa £29,000-£32,000, dependent on experience.

Hours: Fulltime: 37.5 hours per week. Essential attendance on at c.8-10 residential projects a year.

Leave: 25 days per year, plus bank holidays and up to 13 additional pre-set discretionary reward days in September and during the Christmas period.

Other benefits: 4% employer pension contribution paid on full base salary, rising by 1% per year of service, up to a maximum of 7%, hybrid working, office with great transport links, flexible working (outside core hours), employee reward scheme, a tight-knit effective team with great morale.

Based: Hybrid – our small office in Waterloo, London. Hybrid working is well established with the majority of the team splitting time around 50:50 between the office and home.

Who we’re looking for:

Our next Youth Work hero. You'll be fun, active, energised, resilient, and experienced in work with young people with complex needs, and looking to join an organisation you can believe in and who in return will believe and invest in you.

You’ll have multi years’ experience working alongside young people who might struggle in other settings and will be used to dealing with a range of behaviours and complex support needs, ideally including mental health support needs,with a good understanding of safeguarding. A basic level of comfortableness in the outdoors, resilience to keep going with a smile when it's wet outside, and the silliness to be the first to jump into the lake will see you in good stead for this role.

You’ll have the flexibility to work away from home on up to 10 week-long residential projects per year. Ideally, you’ll also have experience of leading projects for children – whether residential or non-residential. Experience of working on or leading residentials projects themselves is not required but may be an advantage.

We are a small, vibrant, fun and friendly staff team of 9, growing to 11 when these 2 Youth Worker vacancies are filled, supported by a committed volunteer base of around 200.

Our priority programmes include support coaching for young people, community activity sessions, sustaining our accommodation provision for vulnerable young adults and establishing how we can best support more young people on the homelessness pathway.  We have some great spaces that are in need of development, and we expect that both capital and revenue funding will be included in your workload. We also look for smaller grants during the course of the year, including for food for our residents and supplies for our art groups, and we hope to recruit volunteers to assist with some elements of this work.

The core of your role will be in generating funds from trusts and individual giving, with other fundraising and communications tasks included as time permits.

• To create and update cases for support for YMCA Doncaster’s fundable projects and general running costs.
• To be responsible for an assigned portfolio of trusts, foundations and similar, developing knowledge of, and relationships with, those funders.

We’re recruiting an experienced and creative Youth Campaign & Programme Manager to lead the delivery of our national youth strategy and flagship Fearless campaigns. This is a pivotal role overseeing engaging, youth-led programmes that reach young people, parents, guardians and professionals across the UK.

You’ll manage high-impact national and regional campaigns, develop innovative digital and social media content, and ensure our brand, resources and website remain credible, engaging and relevant for young audiences. About the Project

The National Lottery funded Meddwl Ymlaen Mind Our Future project is led by The Venture on behalf of the North East Wales partnership. The aim is to empower young people aged 11 to 24 to shape mental health services across Wrexham and Flintshire. Young people will co develop and influence policy, processes and services that affect their mental wellbeing.

Overview of the Role

The Senior Youth Engagement Officer will lead the youth engagement and co production elements of the project. A key part of the role is to lead and facilitate the Young Leaders Advisory Board (YLAB), made up of 11 to 24 year olds who guide the direction of the project. The post holder will support their leadership development, confidence and decision making.

The role also includes developing a strategy to recruit and engage more young people, delivering a calendar of youth led events, and ensuring young voices shape all aspects of the project. The officer will represent Mind Our Future in meetings with stakeholders and support young people recruited into paid roles within the project.

A. Project Coordinator

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and motivated Project Coordinator and Admin. Officer to implement a project entitled Tragedy to Legacy:  Preserving the Social Heritage of the Damilola Taylor Trust, working with young people to create:

· A digital archive featuring documents, photos, and materials from across the Trust’s journey.

· Record 15 oral histories with young people, mentors, community leaders, and others involved with the Trust over the  years

· Organise a public exhibition in South London, with an online version, showcasing the Trust’s story and legacy

B. Admin. Officer

We are looking for an Internal Support Officer to play a key role in supporting the efficient running of our charity operations and ensuring excellent service delivery across the organisation. Reporting to the Customer Success Manager, you’ll own process development and improvement across the charity, ensuring everything we do can scale easily, as well as providing operational support for a range of activities, including order processing, invoicing, data management, and course administration.

At Young Roots, we want to see a compassionate and welcoming society for young people seeking safety. We work alongside young refugees and asylum seekers in the UK, building trusted relationships, providing practical and emotional support and promoting young people's rights and power. 

Our youth hubs and casework are transformative for young refugees, enabling young people who have fled danger, experienced traumatic journeys, and are often here alone to find community and connection, a space to be a young person, and access support to address a range of practical challenges they face. We also draw on our evidence from working every day with young refugees and asylum seekers to call for change to the laws and policies which are harming young people. 

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to play a vital role in ensuring Young Roots can continue delivering life-changing support to young people seeking safety.

As our Finance Lead*, you'll be a senior finance professional providing day-to-day financial leadership, ensuring financial operations run smoothly while translating complex financial data into accessible insights that empower our teams and leadership to make informed decisions. Supported by an experienced Head of Finance and Internal Operations, you'll lead on month-end processes and statutory accounts, cash flow forecasting and funder reporting, supporting strong financial controls and effective use of systems.

An excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to take a leading role, this isn't just number-crunching – you'll be a trusted finance partner, working collaboratively across the organisation to support effective budget management, shape future initiatives, and ultimately help us maximise our impact for young refugees and asylum seekers.

The role requires proven experience in charity finance, including independently managing month-end processes and grant funding. You'll need an accounting qualification (AAT Level 4, full- or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA, or equivalent by experience) and hands-on experience with accounting systems such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can work with the Head of Finance and Internal Operations to communicate financial information in ways that make sense to non-finance audiences and is motivated by supporting our mission.

About the role

The Head of Fundraising and Communications will lead the development and delivery of a systematic, data-driven, and project-managed approach to fundraising and communications — driving sustainable income growth and raising the charity’s profile and influence.

This role is first and foremost a fundraising leadership role. About the Role

The Programme Operations Officer role reports to the Programme Quality Lead (PQL) who has overall responsibility for quality oversight of programme compliance including reporting and project implementation across Cord’s country programmes and provides support in developing overall capacity for implementing programmes. The PQL also leads on Cord’s OMEAL system linked to learning and knowledge, ensuring that impact is monitored and learning is disseminated.

The Programme Operations Officer will support the Programme Quality Lead to deliver programme quality and OMEAL oversight and support to country teams and partners. Additionally, the role will support the wider Programme Operations Unit to ensure country programmes teams have the facilities and operational systems needed to deliver their work effectively. This role work closely with country teams to ensure they have the support required and will involve travel to programme locations.

The four focus areas of the role are: programme compliance, country programme support, OMEAL, and global operational support.

This role would suit someone with M&E and project cycle experience gained within a peacebuilding or development iNGO. You will have qualitative and quantitative skills, be able to analyse data efficiently, present information clearly, and work collaboratively demonstrating understanding the needs of a range of stakeholders.
