We are seeking a flexible, reliable, and enthusiastic Support Worker to deliver services for Young Carers aged 5–16. The role involves three key parts. The first is delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote wellbeing, reduce isolation, and give Young Carers a break from their responsibilities. The second is providing one-to-one support to help Young Carers manage challenges, access services, and prioritise their mental and emotional wellbeing. The third is leading outreach with schools, colleges, community settings and professionals to identify and engage hidden Young Carers.
About The Role:
You will work across two key age groups, 5–11 and 12–16, delivering and supervising activities, supporting events and trips, and providing behavioural management where needed. Alongside group activities, you will offer one-to-one support to individual Young Carers, ensuring they feel heard, included, and supported as they navigate the challenges of their caring roles. You will also deliver awareness training sessions, run stalls, and build partnerships in the community to identify and engage Young Carers.
This is a part-time post (3 days per week). Flexibility is required, with regular evening and occasional weekend work.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and empathetic Mental Health & Wellbeing Project Worker to contribute to the development and delivery of flexible support services which address the psychological and emotional needs of children, young people and families living with the effects of domestic abuse, in North Tyneside and Northumberland. You will help to develop, organise and facilitate key aspects of the service as requested by the Team Coordinator such one-to-one support interventions, group work, and youth participation opportunities in a variety of settings including in-house, schools and community venues.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver flexible one to one support sessions, using a range of interventions to assess and positively contribute to the individual wellbeing needs of children and young people impacted by domestic abuse.
- Support service users, particularly within the 11-16 age group to develop personal and life skills, promoting self-esteem and independence, and raising awareness of other support services and opportunities available to them and their families.

- Work in partnership with statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure coordinated care and refer service users to additional sources of help and protection as needed.

About You
- Holds qualifications and relevant experience in social care, childcare, youth work, or a therapeutic field
- Experience working directly with children and young people with an excellent understanding of common issues relating to child development, mental health and wellbeing
- Experienced in one-to-one casework, group facilitation, youth programmes, and multi-agency working, with a proven ability to assess needs and connect individuals to appropriate support services.
- Effective communicator with the ability to engage sensitively and non-judgementally with service users, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to empowering individuals.
- Skilled in managing workloads, maintaining accurate records, writing reports, and meeting deadlines under pressure, with strong time management and attention to detail.

About the Role:
As a Children’s Advocate, you will be an essential independent voice for the children in this secure home. You will regularly visit the home, meet with the children, and ensure their voices are heard in the decisions that affect their lives. Your advocacy will be pivotal in promoting their rights, safeguarding their well-being, and ensuring that their concerns and wishes are respected within the care planning process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build trusting relationships with the children, creating an open and safe environment for them to voice their concerns.

- Represent children’s interests ensuring their voices are heard in decisions about their care, treatment, and rehabilitation.

Look Ahead's Hammersmith & Fulham Mental Health Service is a Mental Health supported accommodation which is a pathway service for people to work towards their independence. There are 3 buildings in the cluster, all of them are lone-working.
As a Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting our residents to help them to enhance life skills and increase independence and manage their health. This also includes tenancy management and other life skills.
Support Workers in the service work across all 3 projects in Hammersmith and Fulham; working with customers with varying levels of support needs. Many of the customers have complex needs including dual diagnosis and Support Workers are expected to liaise with other agencies within the borough to best support customers. Support Workers are expected to support customers on their journey to independence in a person-centred, non-judgemental way, whilst adhering to the Look Ahead core values.
The shift schedule covers Monday to Sunday, working five days each week on a rolling rota that combines weekdays and weekends. Over a five-week period, there are two complete weekends off.
