This exciting new role aims to bring together the Open Mental Health and Family Safeguarding models. Using a psycho-social approach, this role will deliver individual and group interventions and support engagement with a range of social, therapeutic, creative, practical and community activities.

Job purpose:
To manage an effective and successful sub-contract and delivery of a floating support contract across Hertfordshire. It will link in with the work being done by other Shelter teams, especially ‘Housing First’, and will take a multi-agency approach working closely with other organisations such as health, social care and substance misuse services. The focus on this new initiative will be on the individual and meeting their needs. We aim to take a harm reduction approach and build on the strengths of each person to effect positive change in their lives.
About the Role
Your role will be to place clients directly into their own accommodation and develop person centred and co-produced support plans. We’ll also rely on you to coordinate support around the person and act as a key worker to help them sustain their accommodation and move forward with their recovery. Roles are available on a full or part-time basis and each will involve visiting clients in their own homes or community locations, predominantly in Weymouth or North Dorset areas. On any given day you might be coordinating interventions to ensure that the right support is provided at the right time or giving advice on issues like housing options, tenancy issues (e.g. dampness and disrepair), welfare and housing benefits, debt or employment. In short, you won’t be short of challenges.
About you
Proactive, creative and client-focused, you have good knowledge of homelessness and housing legislation and welfare benefits and experience of working within a safeguarding framework. What’s more, you’re not afraid to challenge the status quo and support the introduction of new ideas, methods and processes, where appropriate. Proficiency using a range of IT tools to carry out your work, including case management systems, Microsoft Office applications, internet and email etc. is important too, while the ability to type is preferred.

Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest, working in partnership with Turning Point and Antidote, provide the City and Hackney Recovery service. The service is based in each of City and Hackney’s neighbourhoods in order to be accessible, local and inclusive. - Developing strength-based recovery plans with individuals that are comprehensive, person-centred and individualised based on a clear assessment of that individual’s needs and circumstances
- Involving individuals and their family/advocates in the planning of the individual’s care
- Completing accurate, person-centred and individualised risk assessments
- Holding frequent key work sessions
- Providing person-centred care that reflects the rights, preferences and choices of individuals in an environment that is safe, healthy and maintains the individual’s dignity and well-being
- Administering prescriptions in accordance with stated policy and procedure and the client’s needs
- Providing an environment that is free from abuse or neglect, observing agreed safeguarding practices
- Identifying and promoting appropriate opportunities for individuals to engage with their community. (g. Employment, Training and Education, volunteering etc)
- Reviewing and monitoring the individual’s recovery through regular recovery plan reviews that ensure continued relevance of interventions. Engaging in regular 1-2-1 supervision and clinical team meetings

The Amber Project provides help and support to young people (12-25) who have experience of self harm. We can offer help in a number of different ways including counselling, Friday evening workshops, theatre workshops, and informal support. We are totally inclusive and work with children and young people from all faiths and no faith, and this diversity is reflected in our team.
We provide Activity Based Workshops, Theatre Workshops, Counselling and One to One Support. Our workshops open to young people aged 12 to 17 years, and 17 to 25 years, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, religion. Activities can include music workshops, cooking, trips, arts & craft, and group discussions.
As a part time Support Worker, covering maternity leave you will be working with young people aged 12-25 years old who have experience of self-harm. You will play a key role in providing them with one to one support and advocacy both on a one-to-one basis and within a group setting; working with them to develop their emotional skills which will allow them to cope more effectively with the difficulties in their lives. The nature of the work means role, and successful candidate, must focus on inclusivity for the young people.
The successful candidate will have considerable experience in working with young people aged 12-25 and will enjoy the challenge of working with adolescents in difficult circumstances. You will need to be able to work within a non-discriminatory framework, ensuring the services are provided in a qualitative, responsive and accessible manner. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, you will need to be able to engage in remote working, connecting with the young people by phone and video-conferencing.
