Our services in Doncaster, South Yorkshire provide excellent care and support to individuals with a range of support needs, including learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs. As a Senior Support Worker, you will work alongside the Team Leader to assist with the coordination and delivery of high-quality outcome-focused, person centred support to tenants. You will be positive about supporting people to increase their independence and ensure that they are at the centre of all decisions made about their lives.

Your full-time hours will be worked flexibly according to the needs of the service including daytimes, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

At least two years’ experience in providing care and support to people with a range of complex support needs is essential for this role. As Senior Support Worker, compassion, motivation, diligence and an ability to empathise with individuals is also essential.

You must be warm, well organised, and conscientious and demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. You will be required to work on a rota, undertaking early, late and weekend duties as required.

About the role

The Refugee Council supports separated children across England and part of our service is a team of staff based at the port of Dover, working 24/7 to provide a temporary safeguarding service for children arriving there, ensuring that their basic needs are met while they await transfer to the care of a local authority. The unit is reactive to the needs of clients, who may arrive at any time, and staff are expected to cover a variety of shifts.

As a Support Worker, you will assess the basic needs of newly arrived clients and provide an appropriate service, including food, clothing, and access to hygiene facilities. About KLS’ Future Foundations education team 

Future Foundations is an education programme of Katherine Low Settlement. Since 2004, KLS’ Future Foundations education team of 10 part-time staff and over 100 volunteers, have supported young refugees and their families in Battersea and the London Borough of Wandsworth to thrive in their education. Through mentoring, family support, casework and homework clubs, we provide the tailored support each young person and their family (if they have one) needs to overcome the barriers to education they face at home and school. 

Key Objectives for this Role

Working with the Lead Youth Worker you will: 

Homework Clubs

•Collect up to date consent information for all young people joining Future Foundations

•Support with creating session plans for club nights

•Research and source necessary resources activities 

•Support to plan and run engaging and fun activities/ongoing projects for the young people

•Use participatory methods to involve young people about Clubs 

•Ensure children’s participation and encourage ownership of and responsibility for the Clubs

Senior Youth Worker

Richmond Borough Mind is a vibrant local charity that has been supporting and providing services for adults affected by mental health problems and their carers for over 60 years. 

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Adults Peer Support Worker to join our busy Peer Support team. You will have your own lived experience of mental health issues and be able to use this experience as well as your professional skills and knowledge to support others.

RB Mind has run effective peer-led services for many years. The role will be supported by RB Mind Senior Peer Support Workers, and the Peer Support Coordinator in South West London St George’s Mental Health Trust (SWLStG). Successful candidates will receive comprehensive training and clinical supervision.

With the expansion of our work in this area we aim to reduce waiting times, reduce the number of people going into crisis, address inequalities and support transitions from youth to adult services. We offer holistic and personalised care and support to service users.

What will you be doing?

• Supporting learners with self-care and independence skills such as eating, drinking, washing, bathing, using the toilet, managing incontinence, dressing, mobility, and medication administration.
   
• Ensuring learners' care files are kept up to date and accurate.
   
• At the start of each shift, reviewing communication and log books, and liaising with staff at handover to ensure learners' needs are well documented and addressed.
   
• Establish supportive relationships with learners and encourage the development of stable relationships.
   
• Promote the emotional health and self-esteem of learners and support them through changes in their living situation and personal circumstances.

 | Overview and key points on the role  |  This is a management-level role and will involve working lone shifts during evenings and weekends to provide support to Support Line Workers and volunteers during their shifts. Support Line Manager duties will also include line-managing a team of Support Line Workers, the development and delivery of training, supporting the development and implementation of policy and processes. A key element of the role is safeguarding children and adults at risk who may call us. We will provide the successful candidate with: ●      Monthly clinical supervision and line-management supervision. ●      A salary of £37,000 (pro rata). ●      Regular CPD and developmental opportunities. ●      NEST pension scheme; 3% employer contribution and 5% employee contribution. ●      Travel loan and cycle to work scheme. ●      Holiday pay equivalent to annual leave. ●      Access to a range of benefits including My GP Anytime, My Employment Assistance Programme, My Online Health Assessments, My Perks and The Health Shield scheme.
