The Project Delivery Manager will play an important role in helping us to achieve that vision, by working to deliver a State of the Nation review of sarcoma services and treatment in the UK. This will help us fully understand what the barriers are to progress, and the actions needed to improve health outcomes for sarcoma patients.
This fixed-term and part-time role is ideal for an experienced policy consultant or consultancy firm, or a policy researcher, with experience in running policy, research or public affairs projects, including evidence-gathering exercises, working with stakeholders, and producing report findings.
Project budget: An additional £13,000 will be available to support the project’s evidence-gathering, e.g. to help set up and run meetings or events.
About you:
We are looking for a highly motivated, organised, goal focused, self-starter with the following experience, knowledge, skills and abilities:
- An understanding of the health policy environment, knowledge of health policy including cancer, how it is delivered by the NHS, and ideally rare cancer or sarcoma care.
- Experience of working and communicating well with a range of stakeholders, such as elected representatives, government officials, healthcare professionals, and people affected by health conditions.
- Experience in working with and supporting these kinds of stakeholders, and particularly people affected by health conditions, to give evidence.
- Experiencing in running projects to gather written and spoken evidence, including setting up and running meetings and workshops.
- Experience of working with an advisory or similar stakeholder group.
- Highly effective skills in analysing policy and evidence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas and information clearly to a variety of audiences with a strong attention to detail, e.g. via written or verbal briefing or reports.
- Ability to work on own initiative and work effectively within a team.
- Highly organised, with very effective planning and project management skills and an ability to prioritise competing deadlines and work calmly under pressure.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Project management
- Lead the delivery of the State of the Nation review project, reporting to the Policy and Public Affairs Manager and working with the Policy and Public Affairs Officer.
- Develop and implement an evidence-gathering plan, with clear and achievable timelines.
- Running the evidence-gathering process, including Call for Evidence, and arranging evidence sessions, meetings, or events (e.g., workshop(s) or roundtable) to facilitate evidence-gathering.
Secretariat
- Work with and support the State of the Nation Advisory Group to meet regularly during the review, and to facilitate their role in providing advice and support during the project.
- Schedule meetings, assist members with travel and/or accommodation arrangements as necessary.
- Circulate agendas and papers no less than five working days before meetings (and make every effort to provide any further information requested).
- Listen and act upon members’ feedback and respond promptly to any queries.
- Circulate minutes no more than ten working days after meetings.
- Analysis of written and verbal evidence received by the review.
- Produce written briefing to support evidence-gathering, via evidence sessions, workshop or roundtable meetings.
- Following the conclusion of the evidence-gathering, draft an initial outline report for the Advisory Group to consider.
- Also produce draft and full final reports, drawing on received evidence, detailing draft key findings and recommendations, and taking account of advice from the Nation Advisory Group.
External relationships
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with people personally affected by sarcoma and healthcare professionals working in this field, including those giving evidence to the review, and members of the Advisory Group.
- Represent Sarcoma UK at external Policy and Public Affairs events, or meetings with key stakeholders, e.g., British Sarcoma Group Conference, and meetings of the Sarcoma Advisory Group Chairs, when the role-holder may be required to promote or present about the review.
- Develop relationships with key influencers, including parliamentarians, government officials, the NHS, and other stakeholders, to support delivery of the review project.
Internal relationships
- Work as part of the State of the Nation Project Board, to coordinate decision-making on the delivery of activity under the review, to:
- keep project timelines and outputs on track to meet timelines
- quality assure outputs, and
- manage risks.
- Advise and support on engagement with stakeholders to support the evidence-gathering process, the report production, action plan for stakeholders, and development of new Sarcoma UK policy positions.
- Work with other Sarcoma UK teams to support delivery of the review, e.g. communications, digital, Support Line, Patient Involvement Network Coordinator.
- Provide written or in-person updates on the review to the Trustee Board as required.
General
- Attend Sarcoma UK events which form part of the State of the Nation review.
- The role may require occasional travel to meeting and events. Occasional weekend or evening work may also be required and time off in lieu will be given.

Grant management

- Providing project management support for new grant programmes alongside the Senior Grants Manager.
- Taking a lead on the negotiation of new grant agreements.
- Managing the day-to-day processes required by any new grant programme from concept through to advertising the fund, assessing grant applications, due diligence, writing recommendation papers to trustees, to awarding funding and gathering and sharing learning.
Other activities
- Working with the Impact team to develop our monitoring and evaluation capabilities with funded organisations.
- Working with the Partnerships and Participation Manager and Policy and Best Practice Manager to ensure that our grant making processes are informed by the key stakeholders.
- Working with our fundraising and communication team to ensure we are communicating effectively with supporters about our work.

The Head of Finance and Operations (HFO) will be responsible for the successful management of the charity finances and operations, as well as making a leading contribution to the charity’s strategic direction. The Social Prescribing Advice Link Worker will refer to agencies at a specialist level including immigration, legal advice and debt as well as support individuals to access a range of services and activities in their local communities.
The role will build collaborative relationships with GP practice staff, including the delivery of social welfare advice training to enable them to identify and connect people experiencing hardship with the support they need to improve their circumstances and prevent problems developing into issues of hardship and crisis.

Role description
Results has a long and successful history of engaging with UK parliamentarians around international development issues and providing them with the briefings and questions they need to raise these issues in parliament. As the Parliamentary Advocacy Officer for Education, you will lead our parliamentary work on education issues in line with our new strategy and commitment to equity. You will have a good understanding of how the UK Parliament works and how to engage parliamentarians in our issues.
You will lead relationships with UK parliamentarians around global education, including providing the Secretariat for the APPG Global Education.
Key responsibilities
Parliamentary advocacy
● Working with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy and others in the organisation to develop and implement a high impact and politically astute advocacy strategy for global education.
● Alongside the specific global education strategy, contribute to the development of Results’ overarching parliamentary advocacy strategy, working closely with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy and other members of the team.
● Lead on the parliamentary work on global education for Results UK, by building and strengthening relationships with MPs and Peers that result in their championing the end of poverty, specifically the importance of global education, and building support for the key elements of strong national education systems.
● Provide the secretariat function to the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Global Education. The APPG secretariat/coordinator function includes guiding the Group’s work programme and activities, arranging meetings and events, corresponding with the APPG Officers and Members, briefing MPs and Peers to ask questions or speak in parliamentary debates and representing the Group externally, for example with the FCDO, Global Partnership for Education, Education Cannot Wait and others.
● Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of Parliamentary Delegations to other countries and advocacy tours to the UK, working with the relevant Policy Advocacy Officer and others in the Parliamentary Team.
● Work closely with the Grassroots Advocacy Team to ensure parliamentary and grassroots campaigning activity is coordinated and the greatest impact is achieved between the relationships our grassroots campaigners build with their local MPs, and the work led from the office to support MPs in Parliament.
● Ensure our parliamentary advocacy and relationships always remain non-partisan and cross-party, in line with our charitable aims and objectives.
Partners and coalitions
● Liaise with other global Results organisations, to coordinate our parliamentary advocacy at a global level.
● Work closely with civil society and other partner organisations and allies in the UK to coordinate parliamentary advocacy in the UK.
● Represent Results UK in global coalitions and consortia, such as Send My Friend to School (SMF), the FLN (Functional Literacy and Numeracy) Hub and others as agreed with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy.
● Identify and develop new partnerships in line with our new strategy and our focus on equity.
Communications and media
● Where capacity allows, identify media opportunities and support media activity (including traditional and social media) related to global education.
● Contribute content to Results UK’s website, blog and social media to help achieve our organisational objectives and strengthen our brand presence.
● Publicise the APPG's activities, primarily through its website and twitter account.
● Represent Results at external meetings and events in relation to global education advocacy.
Organisational Development
● Carry out effective monitoring, evaluation and learning of your work, recording activity and outcomes that enables Results UK to measure its success, in addition to measuring the impact of your activities towards these outcomes.
● Be a key part of Results UK’s organisational development by participating in strategic discussions, evaluations, sharing your experience and ideas, and working flexibly to support other staff as required.
● Actively develop and support funding ideas to help appropriately expand Results UK’s portfolio in close collaboration with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy and the Operations team.
● Build new and strengthen existing relationships with donors, external partners, and our advocacy targets.
● Together with the Senior Policy and Parliamentary Advocacy Officer for Education, be responsible for regular reporting to grant funders.

Person specification
This role is ideal for someone with public affairs or political advocacy experience, preferably in the UK, who understands the way that political decisions impact global poverty and wants to influence these decisions. A strong understanding of and passion for global education. Equally important is a proven ability to quickly gain an understanding of a complex new area and translate it into succinct, clear, achievable recommendations.
This post will provide excellent opportunities for leading parliamentary advocacy to deliver real change in funding and policy outcomes on global education and other issues; for building and deploying a strong understanding of key international development issues; and experience of working directly with UK parliamentarians and other actors across the international development sector.
Essential criteria
- At least one year of experience in a substantial parliamentary or public affairs role with demonstrable success in managing relationships with parliamentarians from different parties.
- Understanding of the UK Parliament (including the roles of MPs and Peers; the range of activity parliamentarians can undertake in parliament to influence Government policy; the role of APPGs; Select Committees).
- A good understanding of international development issues and in particular, the need for approaches based in equity and partnership.

About Fusion:
Fusion Maidstone is a health & wellbeing charity based in Park Wood. We opened our doors in 2003 and set about developing programmes, activities and services to address the changing needs of the residents of Park Wood with a strong focus on addressing health inequalities. Fusion works in the community to offer assistance in four key areas Public Health, Food/Food Poverty, Social Inclusion, Mental Health. Services are either delivered directly by Fusion or by a network of partner agencies. We bring services to local people thereby removing barriers to engagement.
Park Wood Connects Project
Courtesy of the National Lottery Community Fund Fusion Maidstone are able to launch their Park Wood Connects project which is a three year engagement and support initiative co-designed with the local community to support people struggling with the combined effects of the cost-of-living crisis, the mental health crisis, and high levels of social isolation/loneliness in one of the South East’s most deprived communities. To address the growing numbers of vulnerable local residents we propose to do two things through the Park Wood Connects project:
- Reach out better across the community to make more people aware that we and our partners are here to help.
- Make more services available locally by encouraging more people and organisations to begin delivering support locally.
About the Community Outreach Worker Role
Fusion is employing a Community Outreach Worker who has a great sense of community and customer service, enjoys working in an outreach environment and who is looking to make a positive difference to the local community.
Working closely with a second Community Outreach Worker and the Community Project Coordinator you will be performing tasks associated with community outreach including identifying and directly engaging with hard-to-reach individuals and families, providing responsive and effective support, deliver drop-in information sessions, recruit, induct and train volunteers to support the project, organise and host community engagement events throughout the year.

You are an active listener and an empathetic communicator who is able to deliver confidently to a wide variety of audiences.
You have excellent administrative, organisational and time management skills.
You have the ability to deal with beneficiaries, colleagues and partners tactfully in difficult situations and be assertive as appropriate.
You are able to be flexible in response to the organisation’s needs and requirements.
What You Will Offer Us
You will contribute to the design and development of activities and partner services in response to identified need.
You will contribute to and attend steering group meetings to represent the voice of the community and aid in the development of the project.
You will be responsible for your own administration with accurate data entry and working with our customer relationship management (CRM) system.
You will be a positive addition to the team and happy to represent Fusion Maidstone.
Key Responsibilities
To identify and directly engage with hard-to-reach individuals and families in Park Wood to raise awareness of Fusion.
To provide responsive and effective support.
To ensure immediate needs are assessed and met, respecting the wishes of individuals and families.
Act as a ‘keyworker’ for the co-ordination and delivery of individuals and families support with the assistance of the wider Fusion team.
Build a relationship with the KCC Community Wardens with a view to developing partnership working.
Recruit and induct a total of 15 volunteers from the local community to assist with the project 5 in year 1, 5 in year 2, and 5 in year 3.
Organise and deliver 4 community engagement events each year of the project.
Organise and deliver a minimum of 12 drop in surgeries each year of the project in various locations.
Assisted by the Community Project Coordinator attend regular stakeholder steering group meetings
