Job Title: Activities Coordinator

Location: Face to face delivery, based in Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) - Local Stations: Westbourne Park and Ladbroke Grove (Circle & Hammersmith and City lines) 

Salary: £32,600

Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00. You may also be required to work evenings and bank holidays as required.

About the role

We are looking for an Activities Coordinator to work across multiple services within the area, to manage the running and coordination of regular activities, events, and trips for our residents. Our service provides support to residents who have multiple and complex needs which could include mental health, substance use, homelessness, and/or offending backgrounds. You will line manage a team of 2 peer support mentors. Our Peer Mentor role is designed for people who have lived experience of that faced by our residents. You will support with all aspects of line management and wellbeing support, ensuring they are well supported within their role. 

As an Activities Coordinator, you will coordinate and deliver high quality activities and programmes which work in support to individual support places and goals, by creating a calendar of activities, celebrations, awareness months/days/weeks and events to encourage social skills and community engagement. You will also maintain effective stakeholder relationships, find new partnerships, and create a catalogue of partners which are easily accessible.

We're looking for someone who has a true passion to support those who have multiple and complex needs, with a drive to help support those who suffer with homelessness, mental health, and substance use. You will be able to build rapport and trusting relations in a professional setting, and able to build positive outcomes. You will have an adaptable and flexible approach to helping others, with an understanding that each individual has different levels and types of support needs. 

• Ability to use, learn and adapt to IT at an intermediate level, including Microsoft and other software programs.

About the role

We are looking to recruit a Youth Outreach Worker in London for a new role within our UK Safeguarding on Transport Programme. This is a 12-month outreach pilot engaging and safeguarding young people in and around Waterloo Station, helping identify and safeguard young people under 18 years at risk of criminal and sexual exploitation, county lines, missing from home, homelessness or family breakdown. This role does involve working regular unsociable hours including evenings and weekends.

You will be working to identify and  safeguard young people alongside trained volunteers and by engaging with key partners such as Southwestern Railway (SWR) Met Police, Southbank Staff, Train Operators, Youth Service and other local stakeholders.

You’ll play a key role in the development of our UK Programme and part of a dynamic team delivering Railway Children’s programme in the UK.

You will have experience of successfully engaging and supporting young people and families as well as experience of working in an outreach or similar setting, in a creative and engaging way with young people with a range of needs and vulnerabilities.

Alongside this you will be able to work effectively with partners to safeguard young people, who can work with 3rd sector groups and the local community.

You will have completed relevant training, experience in safeguarding and in the issues relevant to vulnerable young and families. Therefore, you will be an experienced practitioner with an excellent understanding of safeguarding processes and procedures, who is able to work creatively, independently and within professional boundaries.

Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager

We are seeking a dynamic, strategic and relationship-driven Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager to lead on growing and stewarding First Give’s portfolio of high-value funders. This role will focus on securing income from High Net Worth Individuals and developing corporate partnerships – from first engagement to account management and delivery.

This exciting Database Officer role will support the data team with data imports, data selections and processing of income.

The Foundation has just started using a new CRM after undergoing a CRM migration from Raiser’s Edge, a very exciting time to be joining the Foundation! This role, alongside with other members of the data team, will liaise with the CRM Project Teams to support and ensure the successful outcome of the project and get us up to BAU.

What does the role involve?

• Manage data processes, imports and exports of all fundraising data including direct debits, new donors, email sign ups etc.in accordance with agreed protocols and in agreement with Database Manager.
• Ensure that the use of the Fundraising database and the capture of all data from supporters or prospects conforms to data protection guidelines including GDPR in particular relating to supporter preferences and consent.
• Support training for colleagues using the new CRM (Beacon) and help ensure all members are trained and kept up to date on new features and enhancements as they require to do their job effectively.
• Support the reconciliation of the bank statement with Beacon and ensure the Finance team know where to find information to enable accurate coding for management accounts.

What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for?

• Demonstrable relevant experience working in Fundraising, or a Charity database team role using Beacon, Raiser’s Edge or any database similar, with experience of CRMs in general.
• Evidenced experience of managing high volumes of personal data using a large and complex supporter/CRM database.
• Evidenced ability to think analytically and deliver the most effective and accurate solutions for data capture, manipulation and reporting.

Purpose of the post

HDR UK are committed to meaningful involvement and engagement where patients and the public are actively involved in shaping our work and decision-making. Reporting to the Senior Public Involvement and Engagement Manager and matrix managed within the Big Data for Complex Disease team, this is a pivotal role that will maintain and build upon an established strategy and programme of activities embedding the patient and public voice at all stages of work with the Driver Programme.

Your work will also support best practice delivered as part of the Public Engagement in Data Research Initiative (PEDRI), a vital UK-wide multi-stakeholder initiative that aims to facilitate a sector wide shift focused on establishing and advancing good practices for public involvement and engagement (PIE) with data-driven research and statistics.

You will work closely with public members, research and NHS communities, internal colleagues, charity partners, and funders to develop and implement plans for patient and public involvement and engagement.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a passion for meaningful involvement and engagement of patients and the public in research, to shape and influence our work on the safe, ethical and scientifically robust use of data for research into the causes, prevention and treatment of disease.

The successful candidate will have a track record in working with individuals, groups and communities and can communicate complex information in clear, engaging ways. The post holder will have excellent influencing and negotiation skills, experience of working on complex projects with multiple partners and be comfortable with working at pace.  Patient and public involvement and engagement in data-driven research is a growing field. The successful candidate will show a willingness and experience of developing and delivering innovative approaches to involvement where previously opportunities may not have been obvious.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience of working with diverse communities and using trauma-informed practices to engage with those having lived experience of a variety of health conditions.

 

Main responsibilities

Big Data for Complex Disease PPIE strategy and delivery:

• Lead on the delivery of the PPIE strategy for the Big Data for Complex Disease driver programme, with oversight from the Senior PPIE Manager and Senior Programme Manager.
• Develop and deliver training and support best practice for researchers working with patients and the public on involvement and engagment in health data research.
• Support member development and growth of the network of patients and public contributors involved in the Big Data for Complex Disease driver programme, including by providing training and guidance on data science and its use in the programme.

Embedding PPIE in our work:

• Lead and facilitate meetings with public contributors to integrate meaningful PPIE throughout all aspects of our work.
• Undertake and manage specific involvement and engagement activities, including but not limited to focus groups, engagement events, developing and undertaking surveys, supporting the writing of plain English summaries of projects and their outputs. In collaboration with senior colleagues, support involvement of patients and the public in the governance of our work.
• Review and provide advice on PPIE elements of research projects ensuring adequate PPIE is incorporated and provide advice and support where needed to researchers. 
• Develop methods to expand reach and ensure diversity of perspectives and work with the HDR UK Involvement and Engagement team to grow involvement of currently underrepresented and underserved groups in health data science.
• Build and manage relationships with colleagues within the Big Data for Complex Disease driver programme and relevant partners like the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Data Science Centre, working collaboratively to support and manage involvement and engagement across all areas of work.
• Work closely with the internal communications colleagues to create and disseminate engaging content (e.g. news stories on outputs and impact, videos, infographics, case studies) on our work and involvement and engagement activities using a variety of communication tools.
• Horizon scan and liaise with colleagues across HDR UK for opportunities to increase visibility of the institute’s engagement and involvement impact, i.e. through conferences, festivals, journals and other publications.
• Lead on the recruitment of new public contributors as required. Adapt, develop and provide training for public where necessary identifying training requirements as needed.

Developing PPIE best practice and collaborative working:

• Work with the Senior PPIE Programme Delivery Manager and the rest of the PPIE Central team to share best practice and examples of successful PPIE practices that could influence our work, including through the Public Engagement in Data Research Initiative (PEDRI).
• Collaborate with the Senior PPIE Programme Delivery Manager, the PPIE Central team, and the HDR UK’s Institute-Wide PPIE Leads Group to lead public outreach initiatives and other events, ensuring that stakeholders are afforded opportunities to contribute their input and provide feedback. Establish effective working relationships and ‘ways of working’ with strategic partners to maximise opportunities for collaboration in patient and public involvement and engagement.
• Act as an internal and external ambassador for public, patient and practitioner engagement and involvement.
• Monitor and report on performance of PPIE across the Programme, make effective use of digital approaches to maximise the ability to collaborate, communicate and continuously learn.

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

Experience

• Educated to degree level or equivalent
• Experience of working with patients, carers and members of the public with diverse interests.
• Experience of working with community organisations and diverse voices
• Experience of running patient/public involvement activities
• Experience of developing, implementing and evaluating patient and public engagement and involvement strategies and methodologies, preferably in a research environment

What the job involves

We’re looking for a Data Operations Executive to join our Data Import Team in our wider Customer Engagement and Experience Team. This role is an integral part of the team who support the important work of the organisation as well as representing and delivering value to all our audiences, both internal and external.

In this role, you’ll get involved in a variety of important database activities — from handling large data imports and automated routines, working with personal and financial data, to making sure customer relationships are maintained by managing queries and interactions from different sources. You’ll be responsible for coding, resolving and importing bulk data exceptions into our Raiser’s Edge database using tools such as Message Broker ETL and ImportOmatic, as well as managing ad hoc manual data imports from platforms like Just Giving, Benevity and Everyclick.

You’ll use our CRM and other platforms to work with live data from our donors and supporters. This includes monitoring data feeds, downloading and uploading regular data files, and reporting any issues to the Data Import Manager. You’ll also play an active part in maintaining and improving data quality through regular housekeeping, data cleansing and updates, helping to ensure everything’s accurate, consistent and compliant with GDPR, Gift Aid regulations and internal policies.

As a key link between the Customer Experience Team and the database team, you’ll support positive customer experiences and help keep information flowing smoothly across the organisation. You’ll also assist with internal data requests, contribute to wider organisational projects and provide training and guidance on database processes to team members and other staff.

This role is fixed term for 12 months covering maternity leave.

What we want from you

We’re looking for a Data Operations Executive with good customer communications and a positive, proactive approach to team activities, problem-solving and time management.

Ideally, you’ll have experience working with a CRM database — Raiser’s Edge would be a bonus — and be confident inputting, processing and managing data accurately. Experience with import utilities like ImportOmatic or similar tools, along with an understanding of income processing and Gift Aid, would be an advantage. You’ll also have excellent attention to detail and be used to handling high volumes of work while maintaining accuracy and focus.

The Centre for Ageing Better launched the first ever campaign focusing on ageism in January 2024.

Ageism is the most widespread form of discrimination in the UK. And it will impact us all at some point, particularly as we get older. Ageism affects how society sees older people: they’re often reduced to offensive stereotypes, patronised, or treated as a burden. And it even affects how we see ourselves. As the years progress, we start to believe what we read, see and hear, and come to think that we’re ‘past it’.

The Head of Ageism Campaign plays a key role in a small team responsible for planning and delivering a nationwide public-facing campaign to bring an end to ageism in England. The public-facing campaign is one strand of a wider ‘age-friendly’ social movement aimed to make people think, feel and act differently about ageing, which will work on a number of levels and with a range of different audiences.

The postholder will jointly manage a creative agency to deliver the final year of our mass marketing campaign, ‘always on’ activity, and a moment of collective action for our warm audiences and ambassadors for the campaign.

As well as delivering the campaign, this role will take a lead on working with creative industries across media, advertising and PR to help shape the way older people are represented. This builds on Ageing Better’s evidence base and significant interest and momentum generated by the campaign in its first two years. The role will be required to proactively reach out and develop relationships with key organisations and industry leaders. Areas it will cover include: 

• Working with industry bodies to strengthen regulations and guidance around ageism and the representation of older people

• Presenting to organisations and professional networks to raise awareness of how industries are perpetuating ageist stereotypes and making a compelling case for changing culture and practice 

• Working closely with our Age-friendly Employer Pledge team to encourage uptake of our pledge amongst these key industries.

You are a passionate and committed campaigner, determined to create societal change. 

You will have excellent experience in campaigning techniques and communications, with first class writing skills. You will understand how to influence the public and move people along a behaviour/attitude change journey.

You will have experience of influencing the culture and practice of different industries, working with professional leaders and/or bodies. You will preferably have experience of working within media, advertising or PR and bring contacts and an inside understanding of the best ways to engage and collaborate with that industry.

About the role

Our People and Culture team are hiring a Payroll and Pensions Administrator to join the team to support with ensuring our staff are paid efficiently, accurately, and on time. You will play a pivotal part of the team to support with the preparation and processing of monthly payroll for all, coordinating effective and efficient end-to-end payroll and pensions administration, plus any additional relevant activities. You will utilise the tools and resources available to ensure we meet the needs of all our stakeholders and comply with legal matters. The role will further include:

• Taking ownership of administrative tasks in the payroll and pensions process, being the point of contact for enquiries in this area.

HIAS+JCORE stands for a world in which refugees find safety, community, and are welcomed by good neighbours, built on our Jewish values and history of Compassion (Rachamim), Responsibility (Arvut), Solidarity (Shlemut) and Partnership (Gishur). We exist to enable refugees and asylum seekers to flourish as a part of a society free from xenophobia and racism.  

Our organisation came into this form through the joining of forces in 2023 between two organisations: the Jewish Council for Racial Equality (JCORE) and HIAS. We are now embarking on our next stage as an organisation having launched our 2024-27 strategy, which outlines exciting plans for growth and development.  

Responsibilities 

  

Mobilising community groups  

• Build and maintain relationships with synagogues and communal denominations.  

• Work with clergy, synagogues and denominations to develop programmes and content related to refugees, asylum, social cohesion, and xenophobia, including a network of advocates and ambassadors within communities.  

• Develop outreach and recruitment pathways for community members to volunteer in HIAS+JCORE projects and beyond.  

• Develop and pilot a project of community-based volunteering, building relationships with sector partners and Jewish communities to support, resource, and network such groups.  

• Support the coordination between and development of local community projects that engage with asylum seekers and refugees, including Drop Ins, community sponsorship (Welcome Circles), and collections.  

• Where possible, foster interdenominational dialogue and interfaith partnerships.  

Developing and delivering our youth and student work  

• Work with youth movements, students, and community groups to develop programmes and content related to refugees, asylum, social cohesion, and xenophobia.  

• Arrange visits, including with speakers, to campuses and communities.  

• Develop new and innovative programmes in national, campus-wide, and online contexts.  

Developing partnerships across the community  

• Developing relationships with organisations across the Jewish community.  

• Organise high quality, collaborative events, campaigns and projects, including developing both Refugee Shabbat and Refugee Week as key aspects of the communal calendar.  

• Bring together high-quality content for other Jewish community events and activities.  

• Build a network of skilled advocates for refugees and social cohesion.  

Administration and Evaluation  

• Work to develop a monitoring and evaluation framework for projects.  

• Provide regular reports for trustees and funders.  

• Work with HIAS+JCORE staff to secure funding for the project, such as through producing reports.  

  

Other Duties  

• Contribute to HIAS+JCORE communications and campaigns  

• Play a part in and contribute to HIAS’s global community engagement strategy   

• Attend regular team and supervision meetings

About you 

Successful candidates will have…

• Commitment to the organisation's mission, vision and values.  

• Excellent knowledge of the Jewish community, including a solid understanding of synagogues, youth movements, and student culture in the UK.  

• A good understanding of current issues affecting refugees and racial equality in the UK, and a willingness to learn.

• Self-starter that can work independently as well as the ability to work as part of a team.

Salary: £65,000 FTE (£55,714 - £65,000 depending on working hours)
Working hours: Flexible - 30-35 hours/week - This role is being offered for between 30 and 35 hours per week. We’re open to discussing how those hours are distributed across the week and can accommodate school hours, early starts, or condensed days where possible.

Scope of role

The Head of People and Culture is a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), responsible for leading and embedding a strategic and inclusive People function that supports Toynbee Hall’s purpose, values, and vision for a fairer and more equitable society. This role will shape and champion a workplace culture that is people-first, values-driven, and committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging (EDIB).
The Head provides strategic and operational direction and hands-on leadership to ensure every colleague’s experience at Toynbee Hall is supportive, developmental, and empowering.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Strategic Leadership

• Co-create and implement a progressive People Strategy aligned with Toynbee Hall’s organisational goals and values, with a strong focus on equity, inclusion, and belonging.
• Lead the development of measurable KPIs and outcomes to evaluate progress in people and
  culture initiatives.
• Partner with SMT and staff to embed a co-produced EDIB strategy, including a clear statement of intent, inclusive action plan, and transparent reporting processes.
• Act as a cultural ambassador, promoting practices and policies that reinforce a positive, inclusive, and purpose-driven working environment.

HR Operations

• Deliver a high-quality, person-centred HR service, with clear, accessible, and values-aligned policies and processes.
• Ensure policies are inclusive, legally compliant, and regularly reviewed—covering remuneration, flexible working, wellbeing, performance, and development.
• Oversee a fair and inclusive recruitment and resourcing process that reflects our commitment to equity and community.
• Lead performance management practices that are developmental, supportive, and reflective of individual and team contributions.
• Maintain robust, GDPR-compliant employee records and HR systems.
• Oversee compliance in employment checks, safeguarding requirements (including DBS), and risk management procedures.
• Lead the HR team with all case work on a weekly basis to review and guide on case load.Take on complex HR case work with the support of the COO and HR consultants/Advisors.

Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Engagement & Culture

• Be a visible leader in embedding a culture of inclusion, care, and psychological safety across the organisation.
• Champion well-being and engagement initiatives that reflect the diverse needs of our people and foster belonging.
• Co-lead EDIB learning and development opportunities for staff, ensuring ongoing reflection, growth, and dialogue.
• Review and promote equitable pay, terms, and recognition practices in line with our values and commitment to fairness.
• Work closely with managers to foster inclusive leadership and team cultures through coaching and support.

Team Leadership and Development

• Lead, coach, and support direct reports and the broader organisation in creating a high-performing, values-led People function.
• Promote a culture of learning, empowerment, and proactivity within the People team and across all departments.
• Create and deliver a meaningful annual work plan aligned with strategic priorities and cultural aspirations.

Senior Leadership Responsibilities

• Contribute actively to SMT discussions and organisational decision-making, ensuring People considerations are central to planning and implementation.
• Collaborate with the COO and CE on organisational performance, people data, and budget alignment.
• Build strong cross-organisational relationships to support change management and continuous
  improvement.
• Communicate openly and regularly with staff and stakeholders about People-related developments and opportunities.

Safeguarding, Risk, and Wellbeing

• Ensure all People-led activities are risk assessed and comply with health, safety, and safeguarding requirements.
• Promote a culture of care and responsibility, supporting psychological and physical safety across the organisation.
• Ensure systems are in place for reporting incidents and learning from them.

Finance and Payroll

• Work collaboratively with the finance team to ensure payroll is updated and released on time each month.
• Support with the Year End Audit requirements that relate to staffing.
• Overall responsibility of the HR function budget including training and resources.

What You’ll Bring

• A commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice in every aspect of your work.
• Significant experience in senior HR/People leadership roles, ideally within a mission-led or community-focused organisation.
• A deep understanding of inclusive and trauma-informed HR practices.
• Excellent people leadership and coaching skills, with a strong focus on collaboration, development, and wellbeing.
• Up-to-date knowledge of employment law, HR best practice, and change management.
• Experience working with Trade Unions and employee voice mechanisms.

Additional Information 

• We are in the process of reviewing the HR function and you will be leading on the implementation of this to ensure that the team is working with inclusive strategies, as well as ensuring that we can best support the organisation with the needed support in a timely and efficient manner.
• Toynbee Hall are in the process of reviewing the pay banding and scales and this will be a part of your role to implement the changes and work closely with the finance team to achieve this.

Essential Criteria:

• Very good knowledge of UK employment regulation and HR practices.
• Experience of advising, coaching and challenging senior staff when needed
• Significant practical experience in delivering human resources functions /activities
• An excellent understanding of and commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion and proven experience of implementing successful EDI strategies and plans.
• That they are proactive in spotting challenges and offering solutions
• Excellent organisation, time and project management skills with demonstrable experience of combining effective operational delivery and strategic work.
• Effective in setting out and delivering against plans; and reporting against objectives.
• First rate communication skills; able to relate to and work alongside colleagues at all levels in the organisation, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-HR colleagues, reinforce difficult messaging when needed, and to coach and support managers.
• Good written English with proven ability to write policies, complex correspondence and business reports.
• Emotionally Intelligent, transparent, principled.
• Ability to work independently but also be champion of collaborative working
• Attention to detail and thorough review of HR related documents
• An understanding of safeguarding and safer recruitment
• Alignment with Toynbee Hall’s mission and strategy
• HR related qualification (CIPD level 5) / Degree in HR
• Ability to present HR data/ analytics to SMT and Trustee with thorough evidence and clear decision-making information
