The Role

This is a work from home post and can be based remotely anywhere within the UK. There will be the need to travel to meetings in London occasionally and travel to our services across England and Scotland on an ad hoc basis.

As the newly appointed Business Development Finance Partner, you will work closely with the Head of Business Development and Director in identifying and evaluating new opportunities as well as working across the Organisation to support ongoing contract management and financial business management activities.

You will support our operational leadership across the UK to evaluate, monitor and review the financial aspects of new business opportunities, leading on financial elements of tenders and grants as well as contract management and risk appraisal processes.

The position provides an ideal opportunity for individuals with a strong finance background (qualified or part-qualified accountants) to develop and enhance their careers through transitioning into a business management role.

You will be part of a passionate and skilled Business Development team, supporting the vital work delivered by Phoenix Futures across the UK.

About You

To join us as Business Development Finance Partner, you will need: 

• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel
• Excellent literacy and report writing skills
• Experience of budgeting for tendering / contracting for services
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interpret and explain budgets and pricing to operational staff
• Qualified in or working towards a professional accounting qualification
• Empathy with the mission and values of Phoenix Futures

The Team

The Business Development team are responsible for leading on new and emerging opportunities to support people with substance misuse issues – securing opportunities to deliver residential rehabilitation, community, housing and prisons services.

Interview Process

We want you to feel comfortable to be your best during the interview process, so that you can get to know Phoenix and we can get to know you. If shortlisted, you will be contacted for a short digital interview via Microsoft Teams in June.

About the role:

As the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser you will use your core knowledge and skill to reflect on strategy, relationship building and leading our charitable profile and income streams.

You will develop and influence strategy formation with supporters and other stakeholders to identify and actively seek out and engage trusts, foundations, and other funders by writing compelling and comprehensive funding bids, presentations, and applications.

You will work collaboratively with Senior Management Team to enhance stewardship to enable creative, effective, and appropriate activities to promote the development of sustainable engagement with supporters.

About you:

You will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of trusts and grants fundraising in a complex organisation as well as experience of prospecting, writing, and managing the application process. Ability to develop relationships with a broad range of stakeholders is vital.

In this role you will need excellent communication and IT skills together with demonstrable ability to plan, prioritise and work proactively. Understanding of the health/housing sector would be advantageous.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Risk & Assurance Manager to join our Audit, Risk & Governance Team. This role will require the successful candidate to support to the Head of Audit, Risk & Governance in the implementation and oversight of effective risk management and assurance policies and procedures for the whole organisation.

Role Requirements

 You will attend the Audit & Risk Committee and other board committees from time to time to present on risk and assurance.  With experience of delivering 2nd line risk and assurance activities within large, complex or heavily regulated organisation, you will be effective in building professional relationships and influencing and collaborating with colleagues from all disciplines and at all levels. 

You will need to engage effectively with frontline and support colleagues to really understand the needs of our beneficiaries and the risks to the charity more broadly.  The ultimate objective of risk management at The Children’s Trust is to ensure the charity continues to deliver high-quality, safe and effective and financially sustainable services for vulnerable children now and in the longer-term.

Although the role does not have any formal direct reports, the Risk & Assurance Analyst will have a dotted line into the Risk & Assurance Manager, providing support particularly on business continuity but also on risk management as and when necessary.

With experience of working in a complex environment, across a large and diverse workforce, you will be exceptionally organised with a high-level of attention to detail. You will naturally possess excellent inter-personal skills, and an ability to consult and positively engage with key stakeholders across the organisation.

You’ll be leading and broadening our commercial offer, helping us drive even greater impact in water efficiency, and the income to support it, across the UK. You’ll refine our proposition and pricing of existing services, seeking opportunities to cross-sell additional services to existing audiences, as well as broadening our reach, engaging with completely new audiences and developing and shaping new commercial services aligned to new customer needs. You will have strong experience at senior level in driving commercial impact for good, and everything this involves in terms of income, growth, commercial strategy and delivery, and risk management. We operate a hybrid model of working which is heavily reliant on digital elements. The post holder will work with the Chief Executive and other senior staff to lead the team in maintaining and developing effective models of administration. 

The ability to work remotely as required and also support and supervise others using remote systems is essential to this role. Remote working systems rely significantly on the use of IT over a range of applications so a positive and creative approach to digital services and systems is essential. 

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and you will be responsible for the smooth running of the administration of the organisation. 

We are looking for someone with strong administrative skills and excellent computer skills, who is an effective communicator with experience of building relationships at all levels. You must also have experience of managing a diverse workload, and have strong planning and organisational skills.
