Job Specification

The Role:

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Officer manages development operations which underpin our fundraising strategy, including fundraising finance systems, donor research and stewardship, event support, and serving as the team lead for database management. The Development Officer provides direct support to the Director of Development, works across the full Development Department, and serves as a liaison with other departments to ensure exceptional supporter stewardship and cultivation year-round. You will work as part of a close-knit team in a fast-paced environment, requiring flexibility, excellent organisation and time-management, and strong communication skills.

Performance Indicators and Deliverables 

· Donations and pledges are processed, documented and acknowledged in a timely and appropriate manner, and donors have an excellent stewardship and events experiences throughout the year

· Research and due diligence on current and prospective donors is carried out thoroughly and accurately across the Development Department

· Ticketing for donors is managed effectively and efficiently from priority booking through to the Festival

· Database records are up-to-date and accurate, and reporting regularly informs fundraising operations and strategy

· The Development Department’s financial records are maintained accurately and Finance deadlines are met

· The Development Department has the resources and materials it needs, has efficiently run and minuted meetings, and is well-organised in general

 Key responsibilities:
The Marketing Officer (Retention) at CBM UK is an important role in making our lifechanging work possible. The position holder is responsible for producing direct mail and digital fundraising appeals for individual supporter audiences that will elicit strong engagement and ongoing financial support.
Working closely with the Head of Marketing and across the Fundraising, Impact and Communications department, the Marketing Officer (Retention) plans and delivers 10-12 fundraising appeals per year to existing supporters. These include one off cash fundraising appeals, newsletters, and prayer diaries, which are produced through working with external copywriters, designers and printers. The role works across multiple
marketing channels, including direct mail, email, web, and telephone, towards an agreed income target.
The position holder also supports the development of fundraising plans, supporter
(customer) journeys, and the testing of new channels and messaging.
Cultivation appeals (60%)
a. Direct mail: Deliver regular and inspiring off-line direct mail campaigns to existing supporters on time and within budget. The role-holder will plan, co-ordinate and prepare fundraising appeals. This involves creating briefs, working alongside
freelance copywriters and designers, and managing print and fulfilment suppliers.
b. Email marketing: Plan, build, and send mass marketing and fundraising emails to existing supporters.
c. Online landing pages: Build landing pages (using WordPress) to support individual fundraising and offline marketing appeals. Ensuring landing pages on the CBM website are integrated with offline appeals and are engaging to existing audiences. This includes utilising Search Engine Optimisation tools aimed at maximising online traffic and income.
d. Newsletters and prayer diaries: Lead on the planning and implementation of reporting back to existing supporters about CBM UK’s work as part of their donor journey, through delivering supporter newsletters, e-news, and prayer diaries, currently produced three times per year.
e. Internal briefings: Prepare internal marketing materials for colleagues and provide briefings for supporter facing teams ahead of each appeal.
f. Agency and freelancer management: Develop excellent working relationships with existing and new agencies and suppliers, including marketing agencies, freelance copywriters and designers, print suppliers, and mailing houses. Evaluate and source new agencies and suppliers as appropriate.
High donor fundraising (20%)
a. High donor direct mail: Lead on CBM UK’s high donor fundraising programme, through planning and managing regular direct mail communications and fundraising asks to this segment of supporters, working towards achieving annual income targets.
b. Relationship development: Work alongside the Supporter Relations team to develop and carry out a donor journey for high donors, including the planning,
briefing and reporting of personalised communications, carried out by the Supporter Relations team through phone, email, and post.
Planning and reporting (10%)
a. Analysis and reporting: Review appeal performance against key performance indicators (response rates, average value, net income) to report back and provide learnings to support decision making around future activity.
b. Data and CRM handling: Develop a good knowledge of the CRM system (SalesForce), including the creation of data briefs and appeal selections through the CRM, and ensuring clear recording and reporting of direct marketing activity.
Other (10%)
a. Sector knowledge: Maintain awareness and anticipation of charity sector trends relating to direct marketing and keep abreast of competitor activities to enable CBM to respond and adapt quickly where appropriate.
b. Communication guidelines: Ensure the consistent implementation of CBMs brand, key messages and style guide in fundraising activities.
c. Compliance and data protection: Awareness of, and compliance across direct marketing, of Fundraising Regulator and Data Protection legal requirements (GDPR and PECR).
d. Collaboration and integration: Work alongside other teams, including the CBM Global Federation, to maximise collaboration opportunities and integrated working. Ensure fundraising plans are shared across departments.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Salford CVS to support our grants and investment programmes.

We are looking to recruit a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Grants Development Worker on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

You will assist the Grants Manager and Grants Co-ordinator in the development and delivery of a large grants and investments programme, aimed at voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations and schools, in excess of £2m per year and largely focused on addressing health inequalities in the city of Salford. Job purpose

To grow NEYDL's earned income across two distinct strands: securing commissioned services and contracts with local authorities and other organisations in the North East; and developing a national market for NEYDL's training products and DigiDAD platform, enabling professionals and organisations across the UK to improve the support available to young dads in their communities.

Key responsibilities

Income generation and business development

•Identify and develop opportunities to secure commissioned services and contracts with local authorities, NHS bodies, family hubs, children’s services, early help teams and voluntary sector organisations

•Lead on the sale of NEYDL’s training products to professional audiences nationally, managing the full sales cycle from prospecting to close

•Where relevant to other business development activity, make professionals aware of DigiDAD as a free resource and refer interested contacts to the DigiDAD Engagement Officer for onboarding and follow-up

•Lead on the development of proposals, tenders and commissioned service bids, working closely with the CEO and programme team to develop compelling cases

•Maintain awareness of relevant commissioning frameworks, procurement processes and funding opportunities that align with NEYDL’s offer

•Ensure all proposals and tenders accurately reflect NEYDL’s costs and margins and are consistent with the organisation’s financial requirements

Relationships and profile

•Build and manage relationships with commissioners, buyers, strategic partners and sector networks nationally

•Represent NEYDL at sector events, conferences and networks, raising our profile with the professional audiences we want to reach

•Work collaboratively with the DigiDAD Programme Manager to align BD activity with the growth of the DigiDAD platform

•Support the launch and positioning of NEYDL’s new national brand, contributing to marketing and communications activity that supports commercial growth

Targets 

Year 1 milestones 

The following milestones have been agreed with our primary Year 1 funder and represent the BDM's near-term priorities:

By six months:

• Approaches made to at least 25 contacts, including commissioners in all Family Hub areas in the North East and warm VCSE collaborators

By twelve months:

• Marketing and outreach completed with at least 100 contacts (warm and cold)
• Training delivered at least 10 times
• Indicative conversion targets achieved: approximately 3% of cold contacts and 25% of warm contacts progressing to a training booking (these are assumptions to be tested and refined through year one)
• Evaluation and review of year one learning completed; year two targets developed

Longer-term targets (to April 2029)

The following targets relate to the areas of work this role will contribute to, alongside the DigiDAD Programme Manager and wider team:

• Professionals trained through NEYDL's training products: 50 by April 2027; 350 annually by April 2029
• New professional DigiDAD registrations: 750 by April 2027; 1,400 annually by April 2029
• New young dad DigiDAD registrations: 510 by April 2027; 1,000 annually by April 2029

The Business Development Manager will play a central role in building the relationships and income pipeline that drives the training targets. DigiDAD registration growth is led by the DigiDAD Engagement Officer and wider team, with the Business Development Manager contributing through referrals identified in the course of other work.

Alongside these targets, NEYDL currently holds commissioned service contracts with several local authorities: Durham, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Gateshead. A key priority for the Business Development Manager will be to maintain and strengthen these relationships, ensuring contracts are renewed and the value of our work to each commissioner is clearly evidenced. Beyond existing contracts, we are keen to secure commissioned funding in areas of the North East where we currently have limited or no presence.

The Senior Policy Officer will strengthen Youth Employment UK’s policy and insight capacity by helping gather, analyse and communicate evidence from young people, employers, members and the wider youth employment system.

INTRODUCTION TO THE ROLE

iniva is seeking an experienced, thoughtful and collaborative Website & Communications Manager to join our team at a pivotal moment for the organisation. The role sits at the heart of Living Legacies: Collaboration, Community and Radicality, a four-year National Lottery Heritage Fund project that activates iniva’s archive and connects it with communities through exhibitions, events, podcasts, oral histories and digital resources. Working at iniva is dynamic, creative and purpose driven. As a small organisation, we value people who can work confidently on their own initiative while collaborating closely with colleagues, freelancers and partners. This part-time role (3 days per week) is offered as a fixed-term contract over four years, with responsibilities evolving across the project lifecycle — from strategy and planning in the early stages to website redevelopment, major public programmes and legacy outputs in later phases. The Website & Communications Manager will work closely with the Project Manager and wider team to support clear communication, shared understanding and joined-up audience engagement. The role plays a key part in shaping how audiences encounter Living Legacies and iniva more broadly, ensuring communications are inclusive, accessible and grounded in the organisation’s values. We’re looking for someone who cares about creating more equitable cultural spaces and enjoys sharing stories that connect artists, archives, and communities.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

This role would suit a practical and organised communications professional with strong writing and digital skills. You will be a confident and clear communicator, able to produce engaging, accessible content for a range of audiences across web, email and social media. You will have experience working with websites, including contributing to or supporting a WordPress (or similar CMS) website redevelopment, and be comfortable collaborating with website developers to deliver user-friendly, accessible digital experiences. You will bring the ability to plan and coordinate work across multiple projects, managing timelines, contributors and priorities effectively. Experience supporting or overseeing freelancers such as PR consultants, graphic designers, photographers, videographers etc or external partners is helpful, alongside a collaborative approach and good organisational skills. We are particularly interested in candidates who bring transferable skills from other sectors, along with curiosity, initiative and a willingness to learn. You should be motivated by working in a small, purpose-driven team and be committed to inclusive, accessible communication. This role supports a multi-year heritage project focused on the histories and practices of Black and Global Majority artists. Role Purpose

The Website & Communications Manager will lead iniva’s communications for a four-year fixed-term
project (3 days per week), with responsibilities evolving across the project — from setting up systems
and plans in Year 1 to delivering public activity, website redevelopment and legacy outputs in later
phases.

Focusing on Living Legacies, the postholder will lead communications activity to grow and diversify
audiences while maintaining strong engagement with existing audiences. They will manage a small
communications team, including the Communications Coordinator, and coordinate different
freelancers over the life of the project, such as a PR Consultant, Website Developer and Podcast
Producer to deliver clear, consistent and values-led communication across the organisation.
Working closely with a freelance Website Developer and internal teams, the postholder will oversee
the redevelopment of iniva’s website, ensuring it is accessible, user-friendly and supports the
project’s digital content and long-term needs. They will also work collaboratively with the Senior
Fundraising Manager, Project Manager and Project Curator to ensure joined-up, timely storytelling that
reflects the aims of the project and supports audience engagement.

Project Specific Duties

The duties below reflect the role across its four-year term. Activity in Years 1–2 will focus on
communications planning, audience development, team coordination and early digital work. Website
redevelopment (Years 2–3) and press activity for exhibitions (Years 3–4) will increase in later phases.
Not all responsibilities will be active at the same time.

Communications Strategy, Planning and Audience Development

• To review, refine and deliver the Living Legacies Communications Plan in collaboration with the wider project team, ensuring alignment with audience development goals, legacy planning and funder expectations.
• To lead audience development activity for Living Legacies, balancing growth and diversification with the retention of iniva’s existing audiences.
• To ensure consistent application of iniva and Living Legacies brand, tone of voice and values across all communications outputs.
• To establish and maintain communications systems, workflows and standards to support effective delivery across the team and with external contributors.
• To manage marketing, communications and documentation budgets ensuring activity is delivered within agreed resources for the organisation.

Website Redevelopment & Digital Experience

• To provide oversight of the redevelopment of iniva’s website (2027-2028), working closely with the Website Developer and internal stakeholders to ensure the site meets accessibility standards, audience engagement objectives and digital preservation needs.
• To manage the Website Developer and relevant budget lines to deliver a user-friendly, accessible website that supports archival access, digital outputs and the wider public programme.
• To ensure the website reflects the interpretive aims of Living Legacies and supports long-term access to project outputs, including oral histories, exhibitions and archival content.
• To gather and commission content from project partners and programme leads to ensure inclusive, participant-led storytelling is reflected across digital platforms.

Content, Campaigns & Creative Management

•  To oversee the creation, scheduling and publication of engaging digital content for Living Legacies, working with the Communications Coordinator across social media, email newsletters and website updates to raise awareness of the project, grow and engage existing and new audiences, and share stories, opportunities and project milestones.
• To commission and manage promotional materials, including digital and print assets, working with graphic designers, photographers, videographers and other freelance creatives to create compelling content that reflects the project's values and reaches diverse audiences.
•  To provide clear briefs, quality control and sign-off for commissioned content, ensuring outputs are on brand, accessible, high quality and delivered on schedule, and support meaningful engagement with participants, partners and audiences.
• To coordinate the promotion of project events and exhibitions, including digital and print listings, invitations, ticketing and on-site communications logistics, helping to maximise attendance, participation and the visibility of Living Legacies across communities and partner networks.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

• To oversee monitoring and evaluation of communications activity for Living Legacies, drawing on digital engagement data across web, email and social media platforms to understand audience reach, engagement and impact.
• To lead on communications-related reporting for senior management, the Board and funders, working with the Communications Coordinator to collate insights, data and evidence that demonstrate impact, learning and audience development.
• To use evaluation findings to inform ongoing communications strategy, audience development activity and project learning.

Collaboration & Internal Coordination

• To work collaboratively with the Project Manager, Project Curator, Senior Fundraising Manager and wider iniva team to ensure consistent messaging, joined-up communications and coordinated project delivery across all strands.
• To support shared understanding of communications priorities across exhibitions, podcasts, oral histories and community engagement activity, ensuring coherence of messaging and audience experience.
• To contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing, collective responsibility and values-led working across the organisation.

Press & Public Relations

•  To provide oversight and be the main point of contact for press and media activity for LivingLegacies, setting priorities, approving messaging and coordinating delivery with the Freelance PR Consultant, annually for three major project exhibitions and public programme (2027-2030).
• Liaise with external PR consultants to support programme promotion, ensuring assets and information are shared accurately and on time.
• To support the development and approval of press materials, including press releases and image assets, ensuring clarity, consistency and alignment with project messaging and organisational values.
• To oversee media listings, press scheduling and coverage tracking, using insights to inform future communications planning in consultation with the PR Consultant.
• To ensure compliance with funder branding and visibility requirements, including National Lottery Heritage Fund acknowledgement guidelines.

The postholder for this role should demonstrate the following qualifications, experience, skills and

Essential

• Proven experience developing and delivering a communications strategy, ideally for cultural or heritage projects.
•  Experience in website development or managing website redevelopment projects, including working with web developers on design, UX, accessibility and audience engagement.
•  Strong copywriting and editorial skills, with the ability to produce clear, engaging and accessible content across platforms.
•  Experience creating and scheduling content for digital channels, including social media, email newsletters and websites.
•  Understanding of accessibility standards for digital content (e.g. WCAG 2.2) and inclusive communication practices.

Role Overview

The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Foundation and will report directly to the Chair and the Board of Trustees. The CEO will lead on planning and delivering fundraising, events, marketing, grant processes and future team development.

Marketing, graphic design and financial management support are available from within the STEPS team.

This is a remote working role, though applicants must be a commutable distance from Sheffield and happy to travel in and around the designated grant area when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and drive a compelling fundraising and income generation strategy, including exploring novel and commercial routes where appropriate.
• Be the public face and voice of the charity, ensuring messaging is on brand at all times, and securing appropriate media and other opportunities for publicity and raising awareness.
• Work with and listen to individuals and families who are beneficiaries of the Foundation, communicating their needs with clarity and credibility to funders and potential funders and donors.
• Establish a donor stewardship journey and ensure practice follows to meet donor needs.

We’re looking for a collaborative, highly organised Youth Engagement Project Officer, who is passionate about building opportunities for children and young people in libraries.

You’ll have great communication skills and enthusiasm for platforming young people’s voices. You’ll also know how to manage priorities, keep projects within deadline and budget, and accurately collect and compile data. As a natural people-person, you’ll feel confident supporting library teams, partners and colleagues and be happy taking initiative.
