Overview of the Directorate
- The Education Department develops, resources, delivers and manages the ESU’s portfolio of education programmes. This portfolio encompasses teaching programmes, domestic and international competition(s), short- and long-term interventions in schools and external educational organisations, continual professional development opportunities for teachers, school membership, awards & scholarships, all of which are focused on giving young people the speaking & listening skills and the cross-cultural understanding they need to thrive.
Purpose of this role
- The main purpose of the role is to carry out and assist in the administration and day to day running of the ESU’s educational programmes, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, and managing delivery staff to ensure collective goals and objectives are reached
Responsibilities and Expectations
· Support with the smooth running and delivery of ESU Education’s domestic & international programmes as needed
· Be the first respondent to incoming calls and emails from educators, ESU partners and the general public, providing timely and professional responses to all enquiries
· Manage ESU spreadsheets and data across various Excel and our CRM system to ensure clean and accurate data collection and collation
· As needed, support with the development and improvement of education resources
· Liaise with the ESU’s Accounts Department regarding invoicing, delivery staff pay and expenses.
· Maintain accurate records of all bookings, delivery staff status, schools, public feedback and other relevant information.
· To support with delivery of workshops in schools, undertaking training to ensure delivery and teaching matches ESU standards
· Where appropriate source venues, confirm catering arrangements and other operational requirements regarding Education events.
· Assist the department in ad-hoc admin work as needed such as printing
· Participate in call-rounds as part of the department’s sales and onboarding efforts
· Co-ordinate the collection of process evaluation & impact data.
To work or travel over occasional evenings and weekends as directed by line manager, with time off in lieu.
· On occasion, support young people during workshops, residential programmes and competition events to ensure these key beneficiaries are supported throughout their engagement with the ESU.

Contract Responsibilities
·Assist with proposal and tender submission, including preparing project budgets and schedules, liaising with prospective staff and ensuring all proposals are submitted within the respective deadlines

About the role
Our passionate Regional Casework Coordinators are SSAFA’s front line of support for members of the armed forces community in need. They are the first point of contact for all beneficiaries into the Regional Office, assessing needs and allocating the case to one of our volunteer caseworkers.
You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary. You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. You will have the opportunity to shape processes and procedures within the office which will lead to improvements in the service offered to clients.
To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA.
Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the Greater London areat. There will be occasional travel around the Greater London region, and you will be required to travel for quarterly face to face team meetings.
About the team
The team work remotely and pride themselves in maintaining a close working bond which ensures the smooth operation of the office. You will work closely with volunteers from the eight SSAFA branches in the South West, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. The successful candidate will work as part of a larger team of 10, which includes two Regional Casework Managers and a Regional Operations Manager.
About you
To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing welfare advice in key areas such as housing benefits, debt, disability, mobility or immigration issues. You will have knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR and experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. You will be able to provide excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.
It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families and if you have experience of recruiting and supporting volunteers. An understanding of the voluntary sector and preferably the military charity sector landscape across the London area would be valuable

XLP is a vibrant youth work charity dedicated to shaping bright futures for young people. Leading the charge against poverty and educational failure in inner London, we offer holistic, long-term support to 11 to 25 year olds in both schools and communities.
Over the past eight years XLP has run a nationally recognised mentoring programme which runs in nine London boroughs. These mentoring projects target at risk young people between 11 – 18 who are on the verge of exclusion or excluded from school, at risk of involvement or already involved in crime, and isolated from their communities. The aim is to support these young people and help them see alternatives to what can sometimes seem a hopeless situation.
We’re looking for a Mentoring Manager to join the team to recruit, train, monitor and supervise mentors sourced from the local community in North London. These mentors commit to providing 1-2 hours face to face per week for a minimum of 12 months with their allocated mentee.
