We are looking for a Director of Financial Accounts to be responsible for the Finance Accounting, Business Processes and Finance Systems teams of The Royal British Legion, ensuring adherence to all relevant laws and regulations and ensuring that an effective service is provided to Directors, Trustees, staff and volunteers.

We are seeking a successful candidate who will:

• Lead the financial accounting team of the RBL group to ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements and tax.
• Lead the RBL’s transactional processing teams with focus on cash collection, treasury management, payroll and accounts payable.
• Lead the development of RBL’s Finance systems to drive productivity within Finance and the wider organisation.

As a Director of Financial Accounts you will also play a key role in:

• contributing to the three-year Strategic Plan with the emphasis on the financial framework and develop supporting strategies alongside an annual plan for the team
• overseeing medium term plans for delivery of the year end, audit and major projects with a typical timeframe of 6-12 months.
• maintaining a system of internal financial controls, policies, delegated authorities and procedures to safeguard Legion funds and ensure that funds are spent in line with charity law, applicable accounting standards and (where relevant) donor wishes
• overseeing the Business Processes function (including Payroll, Payables, Receivables and Cash & Banking), supporting the Head of Business Processes to devise and maintain appropriate processes and controls
• ensuring that business critical systems are appropriately supported and maintained, that risks are appropriately managed and that external suppliers deliver a good level of customer service.
• The breadth of the Royal British Legion’s activities and income streams mean that our accounts are highly complex and we are subject to a raft of external laws and regulation. To lead the Corporate Fundraising team to raise over £1.5m annually, from existing and new corporate partners, through a clear team strategy, pipeline development, cultivating and managing high-value partnerships and supporting direct line reports. 

12month fixed term (maternity cover) contract.

Responsibilities:

Strategy, budgeting and reporting

• Drive CALM’s corporate fundraising revenue, looking for opportunities to optimise and grow.

• Use data, insight and subject matter expertise to inform strategy, budgeting and reporting.

• Deliver the corporate fundraising strategy, which focuses on partnership growth and extensions, as well as winning new business - keeping CALM’s values, brand, tone of voice and objectives in mind.

• Achieve the annual targets agreed for corporate fundraising.

• Steer product development and ideation to develop engaging and revenue driving opportunities across corporate fundraising.

• Maintain awareness of industry trends and best practice, with a view to use these to increase CALM’s income.

Leadership and Line Management

• Provide regular feedback on team performance against targets to the Head of High Value Fundraising, highlighting risks, mitigation plans and future projections that can help the fundraising team budget with confidence. 

• With guidance and support from the Head of High Value Fundraising, be the ultimate decision maker for all things corporate fundraising including (but not limited to) team processes, workload, priorities, structure and recruitment.

• Build excellent working relationships with internal teams at CALM and collaborate with them effectively.

• Support improvements to working practice, process and knowledge across the High Value team to drive efficiency and improved ROI.

Partnership Management

• Support the Corporate Fundraising team in delivering excellent relationship management to all of CALM’s high value partners, with a focus on building long-term, sustainable support and revenue.

• Be responsible for the creation of robust partnership plans from across the team, incorporating the objectives of both the partner and CALM and agreed, realistic fundraising targets.

• Ensure partnership milestones and fundraising targets are monitored, met, reported on and celebrated with key internal and external stakeholders.

• When needed, lead by example and personally provide excellent relationship management to a small number of CALM’s key high-value corporate partners significantly contributing to the corporate fundraising budget and strategy.

• Confidently represent CALM at key meetings and events, where public speaking and the delivery of CALM Champion Workshops may be required.

• Work closely with the Services, Data and MarComms teams to build. engaging impact reports for partners that encourage long-term support.

• Devise sustainable exit strategies for partners that leave behind a lasting legacy for CALM.

New Business

• Together with the Corporate Fundraising team, develop a strong pipeline of new partnership opportunities with a focus on £50k+ multi-year partnerships.

• Lead on, and support the Corporate Fundraising Managers to, cultivate and secure new high-value partnerships, with a focus on five and six figure opportunities in line with our ambitious targets. This could include, but not limited to, prospect research, making proactive approaches, hosting or attending networking events, writing compelling proposals and applications, pitching, leading staff votes and leading on contract negotiations.

Your profile

Competencies: 

• Significant experience of working in corporate fundraising, with highly developed skills in both new business and account management, and examples of securing and managing six figure corporate partnerships.

• A demonstrable track record of delivering significant financial results against agreed targets and timescales.

• Excellent relationship management skills, with ability to engage effectively with a range of audiences, especially with influential and senior people, both internal and external.

• Ability to direct client facing meetings, getting to the core of what motivates a partner to take action, and present a case for support convincingly.

• Confidence in managing partner expectations and having difficult conversations where necessary, keeping the charity’s best interests at heart.

The post holder will help to champion and manage the PAPYRUS brand and support the delivery of our projects and services through developing engaging and targeted content. They will act as the day-to-day lead on our social media planning and scheduling, as well as blog writing and storytelling.

BACKGROUND

Magic Breakfast is a registered charity providing healthy breakfasts to children and young people in the UK who arrive at school too hungry to learn, and expert support to their schools. Over 200,000 children and young people are on roll at Primary, Secondary, ASL / Special Educational Needs Schools and Pupil Referral Units that the charity works with, in disadvantaged areas of Scotland and England. Providing breakfast ensures that children start their school day with the energy and nutrition they need to be able to make the most of their morning lessons. JOB PURPOSE

As part of the Brand and Marketing team, the Social Media Officer will lead on social media strategy for the organization, working closely with teams across Magic Breakfast to develop and diversify our presence on social media. Through innovative, compelling content creation the Social Media Officer will raise awareness of our work and the Magic Breakfast brand. The role's aims are to reach and engage new audiences and to strengthen brand advocacy with exisiting target audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Develop Magic Breakfast social media channels to grow an engaging environment for people with lived experience of childhood morning hunger and our wider supporter network.
• Develop and deliver effective strategies that optimise and grow our social media channels.
• Liase with both Magic Breakfast and corporate partners' design, PR and social media agencies to deliver effective and timely campaigns
• Monitor, improve (through testing and optimisation) and report on the performance and effectiveness of social media content and campaigns
• Write impactful and engaging social posts, sourcing approprtiate imagery and developing video content in collaboration with the Multimedia Producer.

As Head of Marketing and Strategy you will lead the marketing team to produce robustly-planned, insight-driven, effective marketing campaigns servicing the needs of the organisation. You will be responsible for the brand and marketing strategy and making sure we’re achieving against our goals for the coming years.

Fixed term 12 months from July 2024, 35 hours a week

Location: Here East or another Scope office with flexibility to work from the office and from home. 

The role 

This role will be working on rolling out our new brand identity alongside the Head of Creative and Brand as well as delivering on a brand and marketing strategy and roadmap towards a large-scale brand campaign in plan.

You will dedicate yourself to making progress on established plans for the year and stay focused on achieving key milestones.

To be successful in this role you will need: 

• Demonstrable experience in a similar level Marketing role taking responsibility for a team.
• Experience of developing, implementing and evaluating brand and marketing strategies, operational plans and delivering campaigns which have created shifts in the awareness, engagement and income generating capacity of an organisation.  
• Strong leadership of a large team, leading by example and building trusted and positive working relationships with Directors, Heads and teams across Scope.   
• Experience with prioritising marketing activity by audience needs and making sure all activity is impact-driven and associates with our organisational strategy goals for the year.
• Knowledge and ability to join up many cross-organisational enabler projects across data, digital, fundraising and supporter journeys to help us reach our marketing goals.

You don’t need to have worked in a charity but the ability to demonstrate quick learning about specialist marketing areas through previous work experience will be vital for this role.
