Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Head of Fundraising (Philanthropy and Partnerships) is a senior, hands-on role responsible for developing high-value fundraising to complement the Charity’s successful community fundraising and events programme. About the role
We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic, and highly organised Fundraising Officer to support our individual giving, community fundraising, and small trusts and foundations activities. The Fundraising Officer will manage individual and community donor activities, and the donor database to support thanking, stewardship and targeted donor engagement. They will also play a key role in monitoring the impact of our fundraising activity to ensure continuous improvement and income growth.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role for someone who is creative, collaborative, and enjoys working across a diverse range of tasks. They will be enthusiastic and keen to generate new ideas that strengthen supporter relationships and deliver impactful fundraising.
Main duties and responsibilities
Individual and Community Fundraising
- Work with the Fundraising and Communications Manager and Communications Coordinator to develop and deliver three - four individual giving appeals at year (digital and offline) to increase income.
- Monitor and analyse appeal performance to inform future activity.
- Support wider donor acquisition, retention, and upgrade strategies through data-led insights.
- Work closely with colleagues in communications and service delivery to create compelling fundraising content and impact stories.
- Act as the main point of contact for community fundraisers and local events, offering guidance, support materials, and encouragement. Work closely with Communications Coordinator where needed.
- Lead on the promotion and recruitment of participants for sponsored challenge events, particularly the Oxford Half Marathon.
- Research charity of the year opportunities amongst school and local businesses and support applications as required.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local community groups, schools and faith communities.
- Confidently represent the organisation at community events and manage a pool of volunteer speakers.
- Use our CRM (Donorfy) to ensure accurate and up-to date relationship management records.
Donor Stewardship and Prospect Research
- Ensure all donors are thanked promptly and feel valued and engaged.
- Manage and maintain accurate donor data in Donorfy, producing reports on donor activity and performance.
- Monitor and manage fundraising and donation enquiries through our development@ inbox, responding and referring them as appropriate.
- Research new fundraising prospects and initiatives across individuals, community groups, small trusts, local businesses and other potential supporters. Maintain organised records of prospects and recommendations.
Trusts & Foundations (Small Grants)
- Support the Fundraising and Communications Manager and Trust and Foundations Fundraiser with the small grants pipeline, including prospect research, applications and reporting.
- Work closely with appropriate staff and service coordinators on project budgets, reporting and planning as needed.
Other responsibilities
- Support and oversee fundraising volunteers and interns as required.
- Work collaboratively within a busy staff team, participate in meetings and planning processes, and contribute to organisational development.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role, as agreed with the Fundraising and Communications Manager or CEO.

JOB PURPOSE
The Director of Fundraising and Development (Maternity Cover) will provide strategic leadership and direction across all fundraising and income-generating activities, ensuring the charity continues to deliver against its financial objectives and accelerates long-term, sustainable growth across our philanthropic, public, and commercial income streams.
You will bring strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to equip, support, and empower the team through a period of organisational change. You will help the team optimise and make the most of the new organisational strategy, embedding strategic focus, effective decision-making, and collaborative leadership practices across the fundraising leadership group.
You will use your commercial acumen and fundraising expertise to identify opportunities and support the team to recognise, shape, and pursue them confidently and effectively, enabling them to take ownership and drive progress across all income streams. A key part of the role will be ensuring that new commercial and public sector income streams are recognised, understood, and capitalised on across the organisation, working closely with the newly established Head of Business Development to embed this focus and enable them to succeed in driving this work forward.
Working closely with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will play a crucial role in maintaining momentum, ensuring continuity, and supporting the organisation to deliver the new strategy and business plan, helping to realise opportunities, navigate challenges, and ensure long-term sustainability during this maternity cover period.

As a senior community fundraiser, you’ll be an important part of the team building Breast Cancer Now’s presence in Scotland, with a particular focus on Edinburgh and the surrounding areas.
We’re looking for someone who is an experienced relationship builder, someone who can find and develop new supporters. You’ll need excellent local knowledge, and the enthusiasm to develop a brand-new fundraising region.
The successful candidate will also be part of the team working on our large-scale project supporting and growing Asda Tickled Pink, our award-winning partnership with Asda and CoppaFeel! which has already raised over £100 million.
You’ll work directly with passionate colleagues across Asda stores in your region driving new fundraising initiatives, inspiring communities and celebrating incredible successes.
No 2 days will look the same as you travel, connect and engage supporters to help us grow income to deliver our mission.

You’re confident in approaching new contacts and are experienced in developing new relationships from scratch. This may currently be in a customer service, account management or stewardship role.

Primary location of role
This is a remote role, and the candidate will need to be based in the Edinburgh area with unlimited access to their own car. Regular travel will be required to meet supporters and visit Asda stores in your region, as well as occasional travel to our London, Sheffield or Glasgow office.

The Head of Fundraising and Communications will lead the development and delivery of a systematic, data-driven, and project-managed approach to fundraising and communications — driving sustainable income growth and raising the charity’s profile and influence.
This role is first and foremost a fundraising leadership role. As the charity’s strategic lead for fundraising, they will shape and expand our income streams, strengthen systems and processes, and build a high-performing team to help us reach more young people with our vital work. Day-to-Day Overview
You’ll spend your time out and about in the community, planning and running fundraising events like fun runs, afternoon teas, and seasonal campaigns, while being the face of Possability People. You’ll also act as the central point for coordinating bids and grant applications, working closely with Project Leads and the CEO to ensure opportunities are identified, tracked, and progressed. Alongside this, you’ll manage local corporate partnerships and sponsorships, building relationships that support our events and wider fundraising activity. This is a hands-on, mid-level role where your experience and initiative will shape how our fundraising operates and grow our income locally.

Fundraising Strategy & Planning

Research, identify and prioritise funding opportunities aligned with Bite Back’s youth-led mission and programmes. Collaborate with internal teams to conduct due diligence to ensure funding sources are aligned with our values.

Prepare and submit high-quality, evidence-led, and compelling grant proposals in collaboration with the CEO, Director of Finance & Operations, Monitoring & Evaluation Manager, and programme leads.

Coordinate grant management and tracking: maintain accurate records of deadlines, deliverables, and reporting requirements.

Work with the finance team to develop accurate project budgets and ensure financial reporting meets funder expectations and our operational needs.

Produce and submit clear, engaging progress reports to funders that highlight impact, learning, and youth voices.
