Role Overview

Maidstone Pride is a volunteer-led organisation, and this role description provides a general overview for those who wish to volunteer with Maidstone Pride and its work.

We are looking for enthusiastic and engaged individuals to support the delivery of Maidstone Pride and its activities. As a Team Volunteer, you will be a valuable part of the wider team by contributing your time, skills, and ideas. Team Volunteers help Maidstone Pride come to life on the day, this may be helping at events, spreading the word, or assisting with day-to-day work. Your time and energy will make a real difference.

This is a varied role and your individual day-to-day responsibilities will depend on the supporting work you undertake, this may be supporting the core work of Maidstone Pride throughout the year, or one-off activities such as being a parade steward.

Key Responsibilities

1. To support the operational delivery of Maidstone Pride and its activities

2. To be responsible for the work you undertake as a Maidstone Pride Volunteer

General Responsibilities

In addition, all volunteers have the following general duties:

• All Volunteers and representatives of Maidstone Pride are expected to portray a positive image, both internally and externally, by displaying high standards of service, integrity, punctuality, politeness, and professionalism.
• To observe and uphold the requirements of the Maidstone Pride constitution, and act always in accordance with its governing documents and policies, including equal opportunities.
• Any other tasks that would be deemed suitable within this role as directed.

Our vision is enabling university students to live God-centred lives, so we teach structured, engaging and transformative face-to-face foundational Islamic education to over 2,000 students across the UK, Canada, Australia & USA.

Role Summary

As a Graphic Designer, you will be instrumental in shaping the visual identity of Roots Academy Canada. From designing educational resources and social media assets to crafting digital campaigns and event materials, your work will ensure our content reflects ihsan (excellence), clarity, and spiritual depth. You will help bring Islamic learning to life through purposeful, polished, and impactful design.

Key tasks

• Design Development: Create visually compelling graphics for use across social media, email, web, presentations, and print

• Brand Consistency: Ensure all visual materials align with Roots Academy’s brand guidelines and Islamic values

• Content Support: Collaborate with the social media and education teams to translate ideas and scripts into polished, engaging visuals

• Campaign Assets: Support event and program launches by designing posters, promo kits, and other visual collateral

• Template Creation: Build easy-to-edit templates for internal teams to use (e.g., Canva or Google Slides)

• Revision & Feedback: Adapt designs based on team feedback while maintaining efficiency and quality

• Trend Awareness: Stay up to date on design and content trends, especially within the faith-based and youth development space

• Project Management: Maintain organized design files and deliver work in a timely manner

• Strong design portfolio demonstrating creativity, clarity, and alignment with brand guidelines

• Experience using tools like Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Figma

• Attention to detail and a strong sense of layout, typography, and visual hierarchy

• Ability to take direction while contributing creative input

• A deep understanding of Islamic values and visual modesty in design

• Experience designing for social media platforms (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok)

• Excellent communication and time-management skills

Role overview:

​As the Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator, you will play a vital role in helping us raise the essential funds that keep our cat rescue work going. This position is key to ensuring we can continue to provide care, veterinary treatment, food, and a safe haven to cats in need. You will take the lead on planning and delivering fundraising activities and work closely with the wider team to help grow support for our charity.

Key responsibilities:​​​

• Fundraising campaigns: Plan, lead and deliver creative fundraising initiatives (both online and in-person).

• Event coordination: Organise and promote fundraising events such as raffles, auctions, online events, and local community events.

• Donor engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with donors, thanking them and keeping them informed about how their contributions are used.

• Grant applications: Identify grant and funding opportunities.

• Collaboration: Work closely with trustees, the social media team, and other volunteers to align fundraising with our campaigns and goals.

• Tracking and reporting: Keep accurate records of donations, event outcomes, and supporter engagement to help inform future planning.

• Fundraising experience: Previous experience in fundraising is essential – whether in a charity, community group or similar role.

• Excellent communication skills: Confident in engaging with people online, over email, and in person.

• Creative thinking: Able to bring fresh ideas and identify new opportunities for income generation.

• Organisational skills: Able to manage your time well, plan ahead, and juggle a variety of small tasks or projects — all while working within the limitations and resources of a small, volunteer-led charity.

We’re looking for a Volunteer Social Media Coordinator to help bring ArtClusiv’s message to life online.
You’ll be responsible for liaising with the marketing team and posting pre-created content on ArtClusiv’s social platforms (mainly Instagram and TikTok). You’ll also play a key role in ensuring that our social media activity reflects current trends, algorithms, and audience engagement strategies.

�� Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Content Creators and Marketing Lead to schedule and post approved content.

• Manage ArtClusiv’s Instagram and TikTok accounts, ensuring posts go live at optimal times.

• Stay up to date on social media algorithms and trending formats to advise the team on best practices.

• Monitor audience engagement (likes, comments, shares) and flag high-performing posts to the team.

• Maintain a consistent tone, style, and brand identity across all posts.

• Participate in weekly marketing check-ins to plan and review campaigns.

• Help brainstorm new ways to amplify our artist features, educational content, and advocacy campaigns.

• Have a solid understanding of social media best practices, including what performs well on TikTok and Instagram.

• Know how to use scheduling tools (e.g., Later, Meta Business Suite, or Planoly).

We seek a Scotland-based individual with board experience and strong commercial acumen who can contribute to our strategic direction during a period of significant opportunity and change. As our Scotland representative, you will bring valuable insight into the specific context, needs, and opportunities within Scotland while contributing to our UK-wide strategy. We are open to a variety of professional backgrounds, such as finance, legal, or CEO experience. What matters most is your commercial acumen, mindset and approach. You should be someone who has operated at the board level, navigated complexity and operated successfully across multiple contexts. Experience in organisation-wide change management, transformation and rebuilding will be particularly valuable as we continue evolving our approach to child protection in an increasingly technologically complex world.

You will bring intellectual rigour combined with emotional intelligence, able to engage with sensitive and challenging subject matter while maintaining focus on outcomes for children. The ability to think strategically while understanding operational implications will be essential, as will comfort with ambiguity and the willingness to challenge constructively and be a support.

We value Trustees who can contribute to our culture of innovation and a positive attitude to risk. You should be someone who embraces our role as a challenger, willing to speak uncomfortable truths and push for change even when it’s difficult. Your motivation should include putting children first.

• Time commitment and practicalities

Time commitment: the equivalent of circa 1 day per month

Trustees serve a three-year term and can be re-elected. The Board meets five times annually, complemented by two strategy days typically held in or around London. Most trustees sit on one committee, which usually meets quarterly.

The role requires approximately the equivalent of circa a day a month, including preparation for meetings, reading time, and ad hoc conversations with board members and the executive team, with a willingness to travel throughout the UK from time to time.
