Chief Fundraising Officer Jobs in Charing Cross, Greater London
Education should be the means to break the link between demographics and destiny. Yet every week 109 children in England – equivalent to three full classrooms – are asked to leave their schools and never come back, with disastrous personal and societal consequences. The Difference, a young education charity, was founded to change the story on this lost learning. It exists to build the status and expertise of teachers working with vulnerable children, particularly those who are excluded from mainstream schools.
By 2030, The Difference want rates of exclusion and absence to be falling nationally and for schools to be better equipped to support all children, including those who may be vulnerable.
The organisation was born out of a year of research into school exclusions with think-tank IPPR. This research identified a lack of inclusion expertise in schools and proposed a new leadership development programme to fill this gap. In 2018, The Difference founder Kiran hired the team who took this idea from concept to reality, beginning work with our first schools.
The Difference is now a 22-strong team delivering multiple school leadership programmes, alongside a growing research and policy arm. The team is supported by our Youth Advisory Board, made up of young people who have experienced exclusion and who provide their expertise and insights on how school inclusion work should be done. This work is needed more than ever. Effects of COVID-19, coupled with the spiralling cost of living, have substantially increased levels of vulnerability. Schools serving excluded pupils face under-funding. The Difference has had excellent early impact but there is work ahead to capture this, share learning with schools and policy-makers, and grow our capacity to lower exclusions across England.
Our first permanent Head of Fundraising will drive the growth and sustainability of our fundraising function. Having proved the impact on exclusions via our programmes, you will help us generate the income to scale this success across the country. We need an expert fundraiser to support this journey. Join us.

The Orchard Project is recruiting a Head of Fundraising to develop and implement their income strategy as they enter an exciting period of growth and continue their mission to unite, empower and educate by bringing orchards into the heart of urban communities.
Closing date: 9 a.m. Monday 13th May
Who we are.
The Orchard Project brings orchards into the heart of urban communities, along with the many benefits they provide: environmental, physical, mental, social, and educational. They are the only national charity dedicated to the creation, restoration and celebration of community orchards.
For many hundreds of years, orchards were a key part of communities across the UK. But sadly, due to urban development, many of these green spaces, which are hubs of biodiversity, have disappeared. The Orchard Project’s mission is to reverse this decline and ensure everyone in cities across the UK is within easy reach of a thriving community orchard.
They also provide accredited horticultural courses and training with a view to increasing employment and representation amongst marginalised communities and host events and activities centred around orchards to improve community cohesion.
The fruit produced by orchards is used by local communities and shared throughout cities by teaming up with foodbank charities and advocating nationwide for the benefits of community orchards.
The Orchard Project is a national charity working across the country with bases in London, Manchester, Bristol, Swansea, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The charity is continuing the expansion of its fundraising strategy to incorporate new income streams, a project you’ll spearhead with the launch of digital fundraising. Across the working and retired civil service community our mission is to help people overcome life’s challenges and thrive. The Charity offers lifelong practical, financial and emotional support, advice and guidance for people wherever we can. Last year people came to us for help over 70,000 times and we spent £6.7m (c.£2m in financial grants alone) supporting people in need of our help. Everything we do as an organisation underpins the Charity’s vision of a supportive community in which everyone has the chance to live their life to the full.
After 9 years in the role, our CEO is retiring and the Charity is looking for its next leader. To continue the great work of the last few years, the Charity is looking for an inspiring new CEO to guide the organisation through a significant period of change and development.
We are seeking a commercially astute values-led senior leader with a wealth of experience operating at Board level, managing and navigating the complex strategic, financial, and governance issues that come with leading the business, in any CEO role. You will demonstrate the intellectual depth, gravitas, and conviction to engage top-level civil servants with the credibility and powers of persuasion needed to win their support and significantly increase income.
The Charity is looking for someone who is as comfortable leading, managing and communicating with people, as they are with developing strategic propositions and writing business plans. So the successful candidate will be a positive and outward-looking leader who naturally inspires confidence, motivates others and who enjoys working as part of a team.

There is so much to engage potential corporate partners and donors with.
The successful candidate will have excellent commercial awareness, strong communication and inter-personal skills and a demonstrable track record in achieving income targets.
