Job Purpose
The Marketing & Communications Executive plays a key role in supporting the Clubhouse Manager to promote and develop the Community Clubhouse as a welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant community hub at the heart of the Selsdon community. The postholder will lead on marketing and communications activity while co-ordinating community lunches, events, and volunteer involvement. The role supports increased attendance, stronger community engagement, and the smooth delivery of clubhouse activities.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications

Support the development and delivery of the Community Clubhouse marketing and engagement strategy.

Promote clubhouse activities, services, events, and community lunches through social media, newsletters, local press, and promotional materials.

Create engaging content including posters, flyers, website updates, and impact stories.

Maintain and update the clubhouse website and social media channels.

Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communications.

Support outreach activity to attract new members, volunteers, and community partners.
Community Lunch & Event Coordination

Support the planning, promotion, and smooth delivery of regular client and community lunches.

Co-ordinate event logistics including venue preparation, catering arrangements, volunteer support, and activity planning.

Work with the Clubhouse Manager to develop new social, wellbeing, and community engagement events.

Ensure activities are welcoming, inclusive, and responsive to community needs.

Gather feedback from attendees to support continuous improvement.

Support food ordering, menu planning, and safe food service practices where required.
Volunteer Coordination & Onboarding

Support the recruitment, onboarding, and coordination of volunteers.

Promote volunteer opportunities through marketing and community engagement activity.

Assist with volunteer induction, training, and ongoing support.

Help maintain volunteer rotas and ensure appropriate volunteer coverage for lunches and events.

Support volunteer recognition and engagement initiatives.

Maintain accurate volunteer records in line with data protection and safeguarding requirements.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement

Build positive relationships with local organisations, community groups, and partners.

Represent the clubhouse at community events and outreach activities where required.

Support fundraising events, awareness campaigns, and partnership initiatives.
Monitoring & Reporting

Monitor marketing activity performance including social media engagement and event attendance.

Maintain marketing and volunteer databases.

Provide regular reports and updates to the Clubhouse Manager.

Support collection of case studies, feedback, and impact data.
Administrative Support

Provide administrative support relating to marketing, events, lunches, and volunteer coordination.

Ensure promotional materials and information displays are current and accessible.

Support compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and food hygiene procedures.

Community Lunch & Events

Successful delivery of scheduled community lunches and events.

Volunteer Recruitment & Retention

Support recruitment of new volunteers to meet service needs.

Partnership & Community Outreach

Skill Specification
Essential

Experience in marketing, communications, community engagement, or events coordination.

We are in an exciting period of growth and transformation and are looking to appoint an Internal Communications and PR Executive on a full-time permanent basis. As a key member of Woodgreen’s Marketing and Brand team our successful applicant will be responsible for delivering effective and engaging internal communications that inform and connect colleagues and volunteers with Woodgreen’s strategy, values and priorities. This role will also support external PR and media activity, working closely with our PR, Communications and Media Manager to manage press enquiries, coordinate media opportunities and showcase Woodgreen’s impact.
An organised, proactive, self-starter you will have experience in creating captivating and effective content, as well as working with stakeholders at all levels to collate content that ensures consistency, clarity, tone of voice and brand alignment across every touchpoint. You will provide expert advice and counsel on internal communications, including confidential and business-sensitive plans, and in addition will;
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the charity to create and deliver inspiring, informative and engaging internal communications plans for key projects and campaigns, including Woodgreen’s Channel 4 show ‘The Dog House’.
- Plot and execute an internal communications calendar, ensuring activity is aligned with other communications and the wider organisational strategy.
- Produce, edit and schedule engaging content and materials across a range of internal channels including email, the intranet, Town Halls and Humand.
- Establish effective measurement and evaluation of internal communications, including both qualitative and quantitative elements.
In return you can expect a starting salary of £28,873 - £32,081 per annum depending on experience along with;
- 36 days annual leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays) rising by 1 day each year to a maximum of 40 days after five years

Candidates should note that this is a full time, permanent, hybrid position with the expectation that our successful candidate will work from our Godmanchester site for approximately 2 days each week.

The role
We are looking for a Communications and Outreach Assistant (maternity cover) to support ELF’s communications and engagement activities over a 12-month period.
This early-career role blends digital communications with hands-on outreach. You will help produce content for social media and newsletters, support patient education activities and contribute to building strong relationships with individual patients and patient organisations around the world.
Our communications evolve in response to audience needs and the changing digital landscape. We are looking for someone confident in a dynamic environment, eager to contribute ideas and motivated to learn and grow. What you will do:

Develop and share engaging social media content (graphics, posts, reels) to raise awareness and encourage participation

Coordinate and edit ELF’s bi-monthly newsletter, reaching 12,000+ subscribers with relevant and timely updates

Keep website content current and accessible, using WordPress and lay language principles

Write and suggest news items on a variety of topics, from the latest medical research and policy to patient activities and achievements.

Support education outreach, ensuring materials are translated and published in multiple languages to reach patients and families across Europe

Build and manage relationships with individuals and patient organisations through email, phone, video call or in-person at events

Help coordinate patient-led events and drop-in sessions, managing logistics and ensuring inclusive participation

Encourage patient and public involvement in ELF’s projects, surveys and opportunities

Assist the wider team with administrative tasks as needed
What we are looking for:

Some experience in communications and/or outreach (through study, volunteering or previous roles)

Strong people skills—confident, compassionate and able to connect with a wide range of audiences

Excellent written communication, with the ability to turn complex ideas into accessible content

Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

Comfortable using Microsoft Office and Canva; basic WordPress skills are a bonus, although training is available

Interest in health communications, education equity or patient advocacy

Willing to pick up the phone and engage directly with patients and stakeholders

Some experience engaging with communities, with an understanding of grassroots outreach and how to encourage participation and connect people with relevant information and opportuntiies
