About the role

We are seeking an organised, dynamic and people-focused Volunteer Coordinator to lead volunteering across both our programmes. This role will supporting and coordinate volunteers across

•  Touching Safe Ground – supporting women and children seeking sanctuary.
•  Well Old – supporting older people experiencing loneliness and isolation.

You will support our established volunteer team within Touching Safe Ground, and develop volunteering opportunities within Well Old. This role is responsible for recruiting, coordinating, supporting and developing a diverse team of volunteers who make our sessions and activities possible.

You will help ensure that volunteers have a positive, rewarding and meaningful experience, while enabling Globe Community Project to deliver high-quality support to participants. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships and using their great admin skills to create opportunities for others, helping volunteers develop their skills, confidence and sense of belonging.

What you’ll do

• Coordinate volunteer availability for both of our projects, including weekly Touching Safe Ground sessions. 
• Recruit new volunteers through social media, volunteering websites, local university liaison and community outreach.
• Act as the first point of contact for volunteering enquiries, manage applications, conduct interviews, and manage references and onboarding requirements
• Build and maintain effective partnerships and referral pathways with organisations, universities and community groups, including including universities, faith organisations and community groups across East London.
•  Ensure all volunteers complete appropriate DBS checks, Volunteer Agreements and any other required safeguarding processes.
•  Deliver volunteer inductions and provide practical training, supporting the learning, development and wellbeing of volunteers, and identifying any further training needs as they arise.
•  Network and conduct desk research to identify wellbeing, learning and CPD opportunities for volunteers, particularly those with lived experience of migration or seeking sanctuary.
• Administer volunteer travel expenses and maintain accurate records on shared systems.
• Attend sessions regularly alongside volunteers to build relationships, provide support and understand their experiences.
•  Maintain regular communication with volunteers and respond promptly to questions and concerns.
•  Organise volunteer thank-you events and other opportunities to recognise and celebrate their contributions.
•  Monitor and report on volunteer numbers, recruitment, retention, successes and challenges.
•  Attend relevant staff meetings as required.
• Report safeguarding concerns immediately and follow organisational safeguarding procedures.

Suicide is the leading cause of death of men under 35 and three quarters of those who die by suicide are men. James’ Place exists to save the lives of men in suicidal crisis through delivering clinical services. We are a charity currently offering free, life-saving therapy to suicidal men at our centres in Liverpool, London, Newcastle and Birmingham.
James’ Place was set up by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley in 2008 after their twenty-one-year-old son, James, died by suicide ten days after a minor operation. James had no history of mental illness or depression and had sought urgent help for anxiety and suicidal thoughts but didn’t find it.   
James' Place was set up to make the experience of finding help as easy as possible. We offer men who are experiencing a suicidal crisis a brief, intensive, therapeutic intervention in a safe environment. Men who walk through the door at James’ Place will be in a space where they feel valued and respected. We provide a calm and peaceful environment both inside the centres and in our outside spaces, accessible to men who visit us as well as their friends and families. We have so far treated over 5,100 men who might otherwise have been unable to access the support they desperately need.

THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a new role designed to raise and facilitate fundraising for James’ Place Birmingham and to grow community and voluntary sector relationships across the region to raise awareness of James’ Place to drive referrals to our Birmingham centre.
As part of the Fundraising team, you will take a leading role in building strong networks across Birmingham and the West Midlands, helping to establish our centre as a sustainable source of life-saving support for men in suicidal crisis.
The postholder will spend 50% of their time working collaboratively and taking responsibility for establishing fundraising activity across the West Midlands with appropriate support from centre staff and fundraising colleagues, the Head of Fundraising and Communications, Director of Fundraising and External Affairs and the Chief Executive and Trustees. They will spend 40% of their time building community-based relationships with the aim of raising awareness to drive referrals to the centre, working closely with the Head of Centre Birmingham and the Centre Manager in Birmingham to do so. Direct Fundraising Work 50%

• Develop and grow a network of local donors - (including HNWI, corporates, community fundraisers as well as Trusts and Foundations) volunteer supporters and influencers across the North West with a view to increasing the fundraising reach of the organisation.

• Assist with partnership activity, including attending meetings, forums, and events, to share information about services and strengthen local connections.

• Proven experience of fundraising in the charity sector, with a track record of achieving results in at least two of the following income streams: Community fundraising, Corporate partnerships, events, major gift fundraising from High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs) and Trusts and Foundations.
• Strong understanding of donor motivations and what drives charitable giving across different audiences.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive messages and build rapport.

About the Role

Here at HomeStart Camden & Islington, we are a small team that consist of three Family Liaison Managers (FLM's).  FLM's play a key role as the main point of contact between families, volunteers, referrers and the organisation.

Working in the local community and family homes, this is a hybrid role between the office in Kentish Town and home working.  The postholder will manage a caseload of families and oversee volunteers providing direct peer support to families in their homes and within the community. Your role
We’re looking for a Fundraising Manager to take our individual, community and corporate fundraising to the next level. Building on our existing fundraising and partnerships, you will build and deliver a strategy that maximises income through creative engagement and strong stewardship, ensuring a pipeline of unrestricted income.

The role will be hybrid, with at least 50% of each week to be worked across our two sites in Southampton.
