About the Role

As Research Fellow, you will lead research and evaluation for the Maudsley programme and contribute to the wider evidence and insight function of WCC. You will use both qualitative and quantitative methods, support digital innovation with KCL, and help ensure that young people’s experiences, outcomes and priorities shape service development.

Your work will inform commissioners, clinicians and system partners working to reduce health inequalities and strengthen support for adolescents across South London and beyond.

About You

The Church of England is continually striving to improve its safeguarding practices. The 2020 report by IICSA on the Church highlighted failures in respect of child sexual abuse and, more broadly, the challenges facing the Church to get safeguarding right.

The Church's aspiration is that safeguarding is not experienced and approached as a matter of administrative compliance. Rather, it should be what the Church is - something that flows from its core beliefs and values, part of its DNA.

The Church has made important and positive strides over recent years. There is, however, still much to be done to keep children and vulnerable adults safe, and to promote their well-being.

The Church is a complex collection of different bodies. Most of the safeguarding work is carried out locally within the 42 dioceses and cathedrals in England. This work is supported centrally by a National Safeguarding Team (NST).

The NST are developing high quality, robust safeguarding learning and development pathways, based on legislative requirements and evidence of good practice. This role will be pivotal to delivering this.

Summary

The National Safeguarding Team provides professional safeguarding advice to the Church of England on matters of national policy as part of its wider transformation plan, which includes the development and implementation of national policy, training, quality assurance and audit, and work with survivors. The national safeguarding team also leads complex casework and supports dioceses in their safeguarding of children and adults.

An investigation by the Independent Inquiry Child Sexual Abuse conducted in 2019 has highlighted some areas for improvement in the Church of England Safeguarding Structure and Practices. This investigation reviewed the extent to which the Church of England and the Church in Wales protected children from sexual abuse in the past. It also examined the effectiveness of current safeguarding arrangements. A public hearing on these specific areas was held in 2019. The report, published in 2020, also drew on the previous two case studies on the Anglican Church, which related to the Diocese of Chichester and Peter Ball. In addition to recommendations made in the case studies, IICSA made eight recommendations in this report, covering areas such as clergy discipline, information-sharing and support for victims and survivors.

The Redress Scheme project is part of the Church of England's Safeguarding Programme, which aims to embed structure, quality assurance and continuous improvement in line with its Safeguarding principles. Following the Church of England's recently approval of a comprehensive redress scheme for survivors of Church-related abuse, the project is now moving into the implementation phase, and we are looking for a new member of the team to help us prepare for the opening the Scheme.

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Peer Support Mentor to join our team based in RBKC to support our residents who have multiple and complex needs which could include mental health, substance use, homelessness, and/or offending backgrounds. You will support in providing our residents with the support needed to help them overcome their personal barriers, and achieve their goals in a person centred approach. You will work within a residential setting, creating a safe and comfortable space which our residents can call their homes during their time within the service. The role includes:

• Placing residents needs at the centre of all support provided and using trauma informed practice to guide care and support.

The Head of Nursing and Quality is a senior strategic and operational leader within The Children’s Trust, responsible for delivering the highest standards of nursing, clinical care, safety, and clinical governance across the organisation. Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing and Quality, the postholder provides professional leadership for the nursing and care workforce, oversees the day to day clinical management of the organisation and deputises for the Director of Nursing and Quality / Registered Manager as required.

This role ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory frameworks, including CQC, OFSTED Care, National Minimum Standards for Children’s Homes, and national patient safety requirements, while fostering a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and improvement. The postholder will lead on the development of evidence-based practice, ensuring services are safe, equitable, responsive, and aligned with The Children’s Trust’s strategic objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Professional Practice

• Provide highly visible, credible leadership to nursing and care teams across the organisation.
• Act as a key delegate and deputy for the Director of Nursing and Quality / Registered Manager.
• Champion a culture that promotes safe, equitable, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
• Ensure children, young people, and families are meaningfully involved in shaping service delivery and evaluating their experience.

Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance

• Ensure full compliance with CQC, OFSTED Care, National Minimum Standards for Children’s Homes, NMC standards, and other applicable legislation.
• Lead audits of CQC and Ofsted standards, identifying gaps and implementing robust action plans.
• Assist in the continued development, implementation, and maintenance of an effective organisation-wide clinical governance framework.
• Jointly coordinate the completion of the annual Quality Account.
• Lead clinical policy development, ensuring all clinical policies are evidence-based, current, and understood by staff.

 Patient Safety, Clinical Risk and Incident Management

• Lead a culture of transparency, learning, and continuous improvement within the Nursing and Care directorate.
• Implement and oversee the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and annual associated plan alongside the Head of Clinical Governance.
• Ensure timely review and oversight of incident reporting, risk assessments, serious incident investigations, and associated actions.
• Promote and strengthen organisational processes for identifying, mitigating, and monitoring clinical risks.
• Communicate themes and learning from incidents across the organisation.

Workforce Leadership, Development and Management

• Provide professional leadership to nursing, care, safeguarding, respiratory, pharmacy, clinical governance and clinical education teams.
• Line manage: Business Support Manager, Senior Clinical Lead, Lead Respiratory Nurse and three house managers, and associated teams.
• Ensure robust workforce planning, including appropriate skill mix and safe staffing.
• Lead recruitment and retention strategies for nursing and care services in partnership with the People Team.
• Ensure regular, high-quality clinical supervision, appraisal, and professional development opportunities.
• Oversee NMC revalidation processes and compliance with professional standards.
• Build high-performing teams through motivation, recognition, coaching, and consistent performance management.

Nursing and Care Leadership

• Provide strategic leadership for the nursing and care education team and line manager this through the Senior Clinical Lead.
• Ensure a safe and effective education provision aligned with national standards and NMC, and other regulatory requirements.

Safeguarding

• Ensure strong collaboration with safeguarding professionals ensuring safeguarding governance, policy implementation, training compliance, and multi-agency collaboration.
• Provide senior oversight of safeguarding concerns, investigations, and learning in conjunction with the Director of Nursing and Quality, and wider safeguarding team.

Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)

• Provide leadership for infection prevention and control, ensuring compliance with national guidelines.
• Monitor infection data, oversee IPC audits, and initiate improvement strategies.
• Promote best practice in all clinical and residential settings.

Documentation, Information Management and Digital Systems

• Ensure safe, accurate and secure medical and care records, with regular audit for compliance.
• Maximise use of digital systems to support clinical decision-making, documentation, and governance.
• Ensure clear, consistent standards for record-keeping across all clinical and care areas.

Resource, Budget and Performance Management

• Hold delegated responsibility for staffing and non-staffing budgets across nursing, care, and residential services.
• Lead capital and equipment planning to ensure all clinical environments are safe and fit for purpose.
• Review and ensure effective skill mix and resource allocation.
• Set SMART objectives for direct reports and monitor performance through structured quarterly reviews.

Senior Leadership and Organisational Responsibilities

• Serve as a critical member of the Nursing and Care Senior Leadership Team.
• Participate in the senior site manager weekend rota.
• Communicate organisational messages effectively and relay staff feedback to senior leaders.
• Undertake additional duties aligned with the role’s scope and organisational requirements.
• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations and The Children's Trust policies.

About the Role

You will lead and manage our CYP counselling, play therapy, and trauma-informed services, ensuring high-quality clinical delivery and strategic development. This role includes strategic development of CYP, clinical leadership of all delivery, supervision oversight, safeguarding responsibility, service improvement, and management of CYP budgets and reporting.
 

About You

You will bring:

• A counselling/psychotherapy qualification (accredited or equivalent experience).
• Significant post-qualification experience, including 600+ supervised hours.
• At least 3 years’ clinical work with children and young people affected by sexual violence.

The postholder will engage proactively with central and local government, devolved authorities, and regional mayors, ensuring that the voices and experiences of Muslim-led organisations are represented in policy development and decision-making. 

They will work collaboratively with MCF’s Communications, Partnerships, and Systemic Change and Sector Capacity teams to ensure a coordinated and strategic approach that delivers sustainable, long-term impact. 

Key Responsibilities 

1. Strategy and Leadership 

• Develop and deliver the next three-year Policy and Advocacy Strategy aligned with MCF’s organisational objectives. 

• Provide strategic advice to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and Board on policy opportunities and risks. 

• Lead and develop the Policy and Advocacy team, fostering a high-performing, inclusive and collaborative culture. 

2. Policy, Research and Insight 

• Monitor and analyse UK policy and regulatory developments affecting Muslim-led civil society. 

• Oversee research, consultations and data-driven insight to inform MCF’s policy positions. 

• Produce high-quality policy outputs, including reports, consultation responses and position statements. 

3. Influencing and Stakeholder Engagement 

• Lead MCF’s engagement with central government, local authorities, devolved administrations and regional mayors, as well as regulators and sector networks. 

• Build and maintain strategic relationships with ministers, parliamentarians, senior officials, think tanks and sector leaders. 

• Coordinate MCF’s public affairs activity, including roundtables, Select Committee and APPG engagement, and representation at high-level external forums.
