We are a small and agile campaigning organisation on a mission to rescue Britain’s rivers from a toxic cocktail of agricultural, sewage and industrial pollution. For this role we are looking for a confident and resilient community organiser who can build strong relationships to support communities to create change locally.

What you’ll be doing:

The Communities Coordinator will support community groups to campaign for clean rivers at a local level. By facilitating grass roots action you’ll be galvanising a strong and powerful network of community activists that have the power to create change both locally and nationally. You’ll be responsible for taking River Action’s national campaign strategy to a local level. You’ll work closely with the Campaigns Manager and the wider team to develop a Community Toolkit (including advice for activists, and guidance and services for communications, fundraising, legal support and citizen science projects) to support communities as well as provide strategic support to empower community activists to campaign for clean rivers. You’ll work closely with the Campaigns Manager and wider team to amplify the stories of those taking action at a local level and connect campaign groups to the wider national agenda. You’ll be working collaboratively with the River Action team to devise, develop and deliver our strategy ensuring our programme of community engagement is equitable, diverse and inclusive. You’ll be working closely with other organisations to ensure our community support compliments the work of others and meets the needs of community groups we work with. 

Main Duties 

• Contribute to the development and implementation of River Action’s campaign strategy.

• Develop River Action’s Community Toolkit as a package of support for local campaign groups. 

• Identify community groups within river catchments areas River Action is working and build positive and impactful relationships..

• Organise site visits to develop good relationships and in-depth understanding of local issues impacting river health.

• Convene and align local stakeholders around river catchment and regional campaigns.

• Facilitate local community groups’ campaigns and provide support in line with our toolkit’s support package.

• Facilitate the creation of community group citizen science projects, integrated within a national system for gathering and sharing evidence of pollution.

• Organise community crowdfunding for citizen science and communications.

• Plan and host webinars, training sessions and online and in person events.

• Develop good working relationships with regulators including Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and Scottish Environment and Protection Agency. 

• Support the CEO and Campaigns Manager to identify and deliver legal challenges at a local level.

• Maintain and develop partnerships and working relationships with other key groups and stakeholders working in similar areas of work to River Action.

• Identify opportunities to engage, empower and expand River Action’s network of supporters. 

• Support the Communications Coordinator to create inspiring and engaging digital media content and news stories, including taking photographs and videos and conducting interviews.

• Support the Campaigns Manager and Communication Coordinator in responding to the reactive news agenda.

• Contribute to the Monitoring and Evaluation system for demonstrating impact of River Action’s community engagement work, reporting against KPIs. 

• Contribute to fundraising efforts particularly crowdfunding and drafting of funding proposals to support Campaigns and Fundraising Teams and the charity’s mission.

• Work as a motivated and collaborative team player within a fast-paced team.

• Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the post as requested by your line manager or any other member of the River Action team.

What you’ll be doing:

The Campaigns Coordinator will help to deliver highly engaging public and political campaigns and activations. You’ll work closely with the Head of Campaigns and the wider team to develop and deliver positively disruptive campaign strategies designed to meet the organisation’s overarching goal of rescuing our rivers. You’ll be investigating the causes of river pollution at a catchment level, delving deep into supply chains to uncover those behind the damaging practices that are killing our rivers and identifying constructive solutions at a catchment and national scale. You’ll be working collaboratively with the River Action team to devise, develop and deliver creative campaigns and tactics, designed to have the greatest impact on the most threatened rivers and communities by engaging the voting and consuming public and holding polluters and government to account. You’ll be supporting the Head of Campaigns and our external consultants to deliver our political advocacy and legal action strategy to bring about change at the highest level of decision making. You will bring energy and innovation for scaling our reach and impact, blending a touch of the maverick with a professional and diplomatic approach to bringing about change urgently.

Main Duties 

• Contribute to the delivery of River Action’s campaign strategies.

• Plan, deliver and coordinate data-driven campaigns for community, media and political audiences.

• Generate highly engaging written and graphic content for our campaigns, adjusting the tone and messaging to different audiences and campaign needs.

• Utilise research showing the causes and sources of river pollution at a catchment level within the policy and regulatory context and assess evidence (including scientific data and reports) to develop impactful campaigns.

• Work with our outside legal counsel to explore legal routes to tackling river pollution such as bringing judicial reviews targeting Government and private actions targeting industry.

• Utilise River Action’s project assessment and management systems and processes to ensure the efficient coordination of campaigns. 

• Investigate and report pollution supply chains at a catchment level for example the relationship between farming, producing, transporting and retailing food and the associated pollution.

• Plan, deliver and coordinate creative campaigns including petitions, public meetings, protests, stunts and campaign collateral such as video and other content. 

• Develop key campaign tools and assets such as props, promotional assets, toolkits and digital campaign tools.

• Draft engaging written content for different audiences to raise awareness of the problems rivers and communities face and offer hope and solutions.

• Contribute data and research outputs for the creation of press releases, MP briefings, policy documents and public communications.

• Represent River Action at campaign events and media opportunities, providing well-informed, professional and motivating contributions. 

• Coordinate contractors and suppliers that are engaged to support our campaigns and activations.

• Contribute data and content for our impact monitoring and evaluation systems.

• Produce internal monthly campaign reports and provide content and data for external communications. 

• Maintain and develop partnerships with other key groups and stakeholders working in similar areas of work to River Action.

Written submission

River Action has just released data about the state of the British dairy industry in the national press. Please provide a one page campaign plan for how you would use that data and initial story to target the responsible polluters and government regulators, mobilise the public and campaign for urgent changes in industry practices and regulation. Consider how you would generate media headlines about the pollution problems and potential solutions while raising the profile of River Action, promoting positive opportunities that put farmers in a positive light and offering support to help them change their practices while targeting the root causes of the systemic problem caused by lack of regulation, lack of incentive and pressures from supply chains such as supermarkets. This should include your idea, target audience, how you would measure success, and a high level project plan. You do not have to include costs but your proposal should be appropriate for an overall budget of £20,000. As our Training Coordinator you predominantly support the Service Delivery Managers and Support Officer in the effective planning and delivery of wheelchair skills training to meet the strategic objectives. You will work directly with young people and their families, schools, colleagues, partner organisations and professionals, delivering accredited training across the UK.

You will be part of the Young People’s Services Team who provide a range of services and activities for young wheelchair users and their families. Coproduction & Activities Coordinator

As lead for coproduction across our Care & Supported Housing Department, the post holder will have a firm understanding of  the breadth of strengths and skills of the people using our services, while also having an awareness of the operational requirements of the department. Maximising opportunities to work together, improving communication and fully embracing the experiences of all the people we support so that we continue to improve services, enhance support and offer solutions and services that are truly coproduced.

The role, will lead Hightown's coproduction group 'VoiceBox', overseeing all coproduction activities, seeking new coproduction opportunities, recording successes, outcomes and monitoring activities all in accordance with Hightown's coproduction strategy. Performance will be reported to Hightown's Board.  

Additionally the post holder will also  encourage, promote, and celebrate the wide range of activities carried out by our diverse services. This role will look to identify, highlight and promote the activities already being undertaken as well as seek new opportunities, funding, access and awareness of an increased range of activities for all the people we support to further enhance their lives and better their outcomes. We are currently looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Bid Coordinator to join our Fundraising Team.  Within the team you’d be responsible for generating income from The Door’s fundraising portfolio to meet our budgeted current and future service delivery needs, and specifically for raising income from grants and tender bids.  You’d coordinate the end-to-end process of bid submission, from researching funding opportunities to writing compelling bids to ensuring the timely delivery of reports to funders.

The Campaign Coordinator will deliver a campaign strategy immediately before and after the General Election. You will lead local community teams who want to end the need for food banks, to get local Prospective Parliamentary Candidates to commit to prioritising the problem of people going without essentials if they are elected, and to acknowledge that that must involve a strengthened social security system.

This Cambridge City Foodbank (CCFb) role is funded by Trussell Trust as part of their General Election strategy, and you will be part of a network of Campaign Coordinators around the UK doing this work.

Responsibilities of Campaign Coordinator:

To build trusted relationships within CCFb and other food banks before, during and after the UK General Election. You will work with food banks across the Cambridgeshire & Peterboorough Combined Authority to build a team and coordinate campaign activity.

To create and support campaigns teams of community volunteers. You will have 1-2-1s with food bank staff, volunteers, partner organisations and stakeholders in each community to build support bases and get people to take part in campaign actions.

To lead community outreach including door-knocking sessions. You will door knock with your community campaign team to drum up support for the campaign, provide members of the public literature on food bank use in their local community, and invite people to their local hustings.

To support local campaigns teams to engage with Prospective Parliamentary Candidates, including organising local hustings. You will ensure that your community campaign teams: attend national Trussell Trust webinars, receive national guidance on how to approach Prospective Parliamentary Candidates, understand the Trussell Trust legal General Election guidance, understand the logistics of organising a hustings, ensure that the hustings is as accessible as possible and ensure that the voices of people with lived experience are heard through the hustings.

To deliver the local campaigning strategy working with CCFb and other food bank staff, volunteers, visitors and social supermarket members. You will set objectives for the campaign, monitor progress and evaluate impact.

To work with the Organising and Local Mobilisation strategy of CCFb and engage with the training and support on offer, including work with other Campaign Coordinators in the Trussell Trust network

CLAPA supports people affected by cleft to take control of their journey, connect with others, and use their voices to impact the future of care. Our vision is that no one affected by cleft lip and palate in the United Kingdom will go through their journey alone.

We are seeking a Fundraising Coordinator (Individual Giving) to join our small but dynamic Fundraising team.

The role requires excellent donor care and stewardship skills. All forms of communication will be required including the proactive use of digital channels such as the website and social media platforms.

The Individual Giving Fundraiser will play a vital role in increasing income from our existing supporters. You will support donor acquisition as well as taking the lead on retention of our supporters across multiple channels including cash appeals, regular giving, lottery and in celebration giving. The role will also support the Head of Income in the delivery of a legacy and major donor program.

You will develop and deliver excellent stewardship programmes that drive retention by deepening audience understanding of the challenges that people affected by cleft face and the impact that their donations make. To support the development of further learning and volunteering opportunities post-release, we are establishing a strategic partnership with fellow charity Read Easy. We are now seeking to recruit a Post-Release Pathways Co-ordinator to develop this partnership on the ground, who will develop links between Shannon Trust prison programmes and Read Easy community groups.

Candidates for this role will need to demonstrate lived experience of the criminal justice system.

This is a home-based role but does require occasional travel around the UK.
