The Programme Manager role 

Due to the expansion of our programmes we are seeking a new team member to support our next year of growth and delivery.

You will be managing and developing skills and employability programmes designed in partnership with industry. With support, from your team and colleagues, you will ensure TTF educational programmes are successfully delivered from conception to evaluation. You will work collaboratively with our corporate and industry partners to support teachers and students in schools and further education institutions.

Hybrid working

Experience

• At least three years of proven successful experience in major gifts or corporate partnerships fundraising of four figures or more.

• Thorough understanding of data protection and, specifically, UK GDPR requirements pertaining to fundraising and sponsorship work.

As Corporate Partnerships Manager, you will manage and grow our relationships with partners and donors from the private sector, who support our work through donations, employee fundraising and volunteering activities.

Role overview

The Partnership Manager will oversee and deliver account management across our mentoring partnership portfolio. This role involves managing the partner experience across a range of sectors, including higher education, the third sector, schools and corporate partnerships. The post-holder will be responsible for onboarding new partners, supporting them in developing their yearly mentoring plans, engaging in regular communications to ensure we’re on track with our deliverables, and renewing contracts annually. Success in this role will be measured by key performance indicators such as partner satisfaction, partner engagement and meeting renewal income targets. 

Key responsibilities

• Onboard new partners and welcoming them to Brightside
• Complete annual mentoring project plans with all partners

• Digital Marketing: Run paid acquisition campaigns, optimise user journeys, and use Google Analytics to track effectiveness.

Person Specification

Essential:

• Proven success in communications management, in either the charity or commercial sector
• Understanding of engaging communications principles, and how to influence and persuade
• Exceptional copywriting skills
• Experience producing various content styles, from long-form to attention-grabbing posts

The Corporate Partnerships Team sits in the Strategic Partnerships Department - which is part of the Communications and Fundraising Directorate.

The Corporate Partnerships Team is made up of 3 sub teams - Partnership Management, Business Development and Private Sector Engagement. It works closely with colleagues around the world, particularly with Corporate Partnerships Teams in other WaterAid countries, the Global Policy and Campaigns Team (particularly the Global Director of Private Sector - Policy and Advocacy) and with our Programme Teams around the world.

The Corporate Partnerships Team is highly regarded externally for its thought leadership on corporate partnerships. Key focuses of the team are on business integrated partnerships, particularly on action on WASH in corporate supply chains, and consumer-based partnerships.

About the Role:
As our ambitious and passionate Head of Corporate Partnerships you will develop high impact, high value, strategic partnerships, demonstrating how private sector can play a key part in the solution to the WASH crisis, and positioning WaterAid as a leaders in this.

In this role, you will drive the ambition and strategy for our Corporate Partnerships work - in alignment with the organisational strategy, fundraising strategy and our ethical policy and standards.

You'll also:

• Provide strong leadership to the Corporate Partnerships Team
  • Ensure the business development team are creating proactive, effective and sector leading strategies for our prospecting work,
  • that the Partnerships Management team are providing the highest quality development in our partnerships to deepen engagement and loyalty,
  • and that the Private Sector Engagement Team is supporting the creation and development of high value, high impact partnerships through supply chain direct impact.
• Lead the cross organisational focus group on private sector 'WASH stewardship', and play an active role in delivery of our Global Private Sector strategy particularly in relation to those sectors whose direct impact on WASH within their own operations is significant - working closely with the Director of Private Sector - Policy and Advocacy
• Actively drive collaborative action within the Cross Federation Corporate Partnerships Group - working with peers around the WaterAid federation to ensure that we take an aligned and global approach to our partnerships.

The Upper Room (TUR) works with a wide range of financially and socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with long-term mental health conditions, asylum-seekers, refugees and ex-offenders – helping them to improve their lives and become productive members of society. Central to our offering is our UR4Meals service, providing free, home-cooked food to people who cannot afford to provide for themselves. We are also very proud of our UR4Driving programme, which supports people recently out of prison with free driving lessons in exchange for community volunteering. The role

Is an exciting new edition to the TUR team, created to capitalise on the fact that the number of businesses in our catchment area is 45000+, but we’re not trying to talk to all of them, just target a few – ideally by gaining referrals and recommendations. So the job is to proactively find those local businesses happy to talk to us, understand what they might be looking for by partnering with a charity, share our brilliant story along with the business case (which is strong) for them to get involved with us in some way. We have made an excellent start, we already have a small number of great corporate partners, and this job is about taking it all on to the next level. As you would expect the role is about creating contacts, networking, maximising the face-to-face time with prospective partners and where possible gaining referrals. And, ultimately this is all because, the bigger our portfolio of corporate partners all feeling great about their involvement with us, the more able we are to raise the funds we need to keep up with an ever-increasing demand for our services.

About You

You live within - or know well, West/Central London, you probably need a job with some working flexibility and want to have genuine belief in the product or service you’re talking about. You have a CV that demonstrates solid experience in a comparable role in a ‘business-to-business’ environment, a role - the success of which, is dependent on the levels of energy and proactivity you provide. This could be in another charity, CIC or other Non-Profit organisation. However, if you have a solid B2B background and want to explore a change of direction you are also very welcome to apply. Following their sons’ diagnosis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), Emily Reuben and Alex Johnson founded Duchenne UK in 2012. We are an ambitious, dynamic and impactful charity. 

DMD is a devastating progressive condition diagnosed in early childhood which causes all the muscles in the body to gradually weaken. There are currently only very limited treatment options for DMD, so Emily and Alex set up Duchenne UK to change this. 

Since 2012, we have raised more than £27 million to end the devastating impact of DMD.  We fund ground-breaking scientific research to find effective treatments. We’ve developed the infrastructure of DMD clinical trial delivery in the UK. We engage industry and regulators to accelerate access to treatments. And we’re here to support every family affected and ensure that they receive the best possible care. We aim not only to improve quality of live but stop the disease in its tracks. We’re doing it faster too, because this generation of patients can’t wait.

Alex and Emily were awarded OBEs in The King’s Birthday Honours List in 2023 in recognition of their services to charity and to people living with DMD. They, and the dedicated and effective team they have built at Duchenne UK, are now at the forefront of this work in the UK.

The successful candidate will be an experienced fundraiser with strong interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide variety of individuals. Job Description

This role plays a key part in advancing the fundraising of Duchenne UK to enable more investment into research, advancing treatments and supporting the DMD community.  A core part of this will be building relationships with key supporters, including our incredible Family and Friends Funds, corporate supporters and community of fundraisers.

You will be central to the development and delivery of key events and campaigns throughout the year to achieve ambitious fundraising targets. You will have budget management responsibilities and provide insight into activities to drive improvements and further success in future years.

The role will contribute to overall fundraising growth; ensuring the guiding engagement and fundraising principles are delivered, and that all fundraising delivers an exceptional and remarkable donor experience to which Duchenne UK prides itself.

Fundraising and business development

• Community
  • Key relationship manager for Duchenne UK Family and Friends Funds, engaging them through fundraising, supporting third party events and providing regular project and charity updates
  • Develop and implement the Family Fund and Community Fundraising stewardship strategy

  • Manage Corporate partnerships, with support from the Fundraising Director
• Stewardship and income development
  • Develop and deepen existing donor relationships, ensuring that the organisation maintains effective communications and good relations with our donors at every level and that they are updated on our work and impact
  • Oversee management of regular giving, including working with the Communications team to promote this type of giving. Provide stewardship to Regular Givers, with support from the Fundraising Assistant.
  • Lead the identification and development of new income sources with the support of the Fundraising team to increase donations, improve the profile of Duchenne UK and enhance our reputation within the donor community; including corporate partnerships, fundraising campaigns, third party activity, challenge events, regular giving and legacy
  • Represent the organisation at meetings with donors and external events
• Monitoring and evaluation
  • Support the development and implementation of the new Sales Force database (launching July 2024)
  • Monthly monitoring and evaluation of fundraising activity
  • Review fundraising and engagement for each Duchenne UK event and campaign with the support of the Fundraising Team.
