We are seeking a new Finance and Administration Officer following the upcoming retirement of a long-serving team member. A key member of the SLA central office team, the Finance and Administration Officer plays a vital role in ensuring smooth financial operations and providing essential administrative support for our membership. In addition to administration support, this role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, book-keeping and effective day-to-day financial operations, producing financial reports using XERO and our CRM.

You will be experienced in financial and administration operations of a charity or similar , with an AAT qualification or matching worked experience. Familiarity with XERO will be an advantage. You will be able to bring understanding of cashflow and financial analysis of figure, working with accountants as required.

You will also have excellent customer service skills and be able to work effectively with all stakeholders from our members, to funders to suppliers. You will be determined and have an excellent eye for financial and administrative detail. Your duties will include general administration and:

Financial operations and record-keeping

• Manage day-to-day financial transactions and maintain accurate records of all SLA accounts and petty cash; book-keeping
• Process and record all incoming payments, including foreign cheques (into bank account)
• Monitor cashflow and expenditure, keeping track of spending
• Pay invoices upon approval and ensure timely monthly payments (e.g. pensions, HMRC)
• Handle creditor and supplier communications and resolve related issues
• Monitor and follow up on overdue payments with a focus on membership payments

Invoicing and income tracking

• Issue and track membership and subscriber invoices and reminders
• Keep office team informed of payment statuses
• Prepare sales, cost, and profit reports for SLA publications
• Conduct annual publications stock take

Payroll and reporting

• Liaise with the accountant on salary payments; process salary BACS payments
• Support year-end financial reporting by providing necessary documentation to accountants
• Produce regular financial reports and analysis as required
• Supporting preparation of budgets, working with accountants as required

 Event financial administration

• Manage financial aspects of SLA events, particularly the annual conference (e.g., exhibitors, sponsors, and delegates)
• Process and record staff/trustee expense claims
• Support with bookings accommodation and travel for Board meetings

To be successful in this role you should demonstrate:

• Strong experience in financial and office administration
• Knowledge of accounting principles  
• Experience of working with XERO or similar
• Experience of using CRM systems (ideally IMIS)
• Experience of working for a small charity and / or membership association
• Accuracy, numeracy, attention to detail
• Ability to manage own workload, prioritise and meet competing deadlines
• Excellent customer service manner

Responsibilities

• To manage the operations of the MSSC Logistics & Trading department, which includes motor transport management for the MSSC.

• Be responsible for budgetary control and finances associated with the department.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Advocate to join our team covering Lincoln to support parents whose children are subject to s47 Care proceedings and other meetings accordingly. The Supporter Services Team Leader will be responsible for promoting and delivering excellent supporter care to existing, potential and previous supporters of Battersea, developing relationships and maximising income for Battersea.

The Finance & HR Lead

We are looking for a Finance & HR Lead to take charge of the financial health of our charity by administering a high quality and effective financial management service to The OutHouse. The OutHouse is going through a period of change and we need a finance practitioner who is able to support the organisation in its financial management. You will also have oversight of our HR function. This is a busy role within a small team that is looking to make a huge difference within our community. Finance Responsibilities

• Provide a high quality and effective financial management service to The OutHouse.
• Prepare, develop and analyse finance and accounting information, including income and expenditure processing, ensuring information is timely precise, clear, informative and understood
• Keep good quality accounting records for our charity by preparing annual accounts and maintaining up to date records on our accountancy and book-keeping systems (making any recommendations for improvement as necessary)
• Work with the CEO and Operations Change Manager to ensure efficient financial management and planning systems, ensure financial reports effectively inform business development and fundraising strategies and that the organisation demonstrates value for money across all activities and services
• Prepare information for our Funders on funded projects expenditure and work with the SLT to present this in a meaningful way
• Attend Trustee meetings as required to provide information and analysis ensuring partnership with CEO and board Treasurer to allow for easier financial decisions
• Ensure financial information supplied to management and the board is full and accurate so as to support sound decision making
• Ensure compliance and proactively highlight potential risk with relevant financial statutory and regulatory matters
• Identify and manage risks and contribute to the risk register on financial matters and wider decision making when appropriate
• Keep up to date with financial developments across the sector and changes in requirements for charity reporting and legislation
• Make sure financial reporting complies with relevant legal requirements
• Maintain and monitor internal policy documents and procedures and make recommendations on best practice and good governance
• Liaise with and maintain a good working relationship with our CEO, colleagues and trustees, Treasurer as well as stakeholders and key operational contacts such as bankers, auditors and funders

Experience

Purpose of the job

 You will be an important member of the Senior Management Team, supporting the CEO to drive income growth. At Birmingham Hospice our patients are at the heart of everything we do, from caring for those in our Inpatient Units, to providing vital day services in our Living Well Centres, and supporting families with personalised bereavement counselling, we take care of our community when they need us most. 

Our new Specialist Palliative Urgent Response (SPUR) service will be delivered on a 24-hour basis. During these hours the team will respond to urgent palliative response calls from patients, their families/loved ones and professionals within the Birmingham and Solihull area.

The Service Lead is an exciting new role which provides a mix of day and night operational management, fulfilling the leadership and strategic functions and ensuring compliance with the hospice’s governance, strategies and values.

Reporting to the Head of Care Services, Community, you will be responsible for managing and leading a team of Band 6 and 7 nurses, healthcare assistants and community team administrators ensuring that professional standards of practice and behaviours are always upheld whilst also acting as a role model.  You will be responsible for facilitating the management and support of palliative care patients to ensure the pathway is seamless and high quality identifying, acting on any risks and ensuring we meet the standards required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and Care Quality Commission (CQC).

You will be someone who can demonstrate advanced knowledge as an expert in palliative care and practice in holistic assessment and development and have a high level of empathetic and interpersonal skills.  You will analyse complex situations and develop action plans to improve the quality of patient care and liaise with GP and District Nursing Teams to advise and deliver appropriate treatment regimes.

Requirements:

· First degree nursing qualification, or equivalent, preferably with a minimum of 20 credits in palliative care

· Registered Level 1 Adult Nurse

· Non-medical prescribing qualification

· Evidence of continuing professional development

· Princess Alice qualification

· You will need to be a car owner/driver with access to your own vehicle and hold a current full UK driving licence
