We have an opportunity for two dedicated Case Officers to join our North East casework team to manage and provide direct support, advice, and guidance to RBL beneficiaries across the North East on a wide range of issues including health, social care, employment, benefits, statutory support, and housing.

Each year, we assist around 12,000 people both in the UK and abroad. Reporting to the area Casework Services Manager, key responsibilities will include:

- Manage casework support, providing direct support, advice and guidance to beneficiaries,
- Assess beneficiaries’ needs and draw on support from the regional specialist team and other providers as necessary, ensuring that support is made available in an integrated way that best meets the beneficiaries’ needs
- Support the Casework Services Manager and Head of Welfare in better understanding the needs of the beneficiaries in your area to inform the commissioning of specialist services
- Advise beneficiaries of support which may be available to them and assist them in accessing this support as necessary
- Work in close collaboration with other providers of welfare support services within the local area, developing an understanding of each other’s services to facilitate appropriate referrals and support
- Develop effective working relationships with other Legion services within the area in question (e.g Specialist Service teams, Recovery team, Branch Community Support supporters, care homes, Remembrance.).

The role is primarily homebased and will have regular travel around the North East area for meetings and visiting beneficiaries, therefore you will need to live in a location that allows reasonable travel around this area. There will also be occasional travel nationally to attend training or meetings.

A valid UK Driving Licence is an essential requirement for this role. The successful applicant will require an Enhanced DBS check to be undertaken as part of the pre employment checks process.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Mental Health Recovery Worker to join our team based in Catford. Penrose Jigsaw Service is a forensic mental health service and work in partnership with South London and Maudsley NHS Trust (SLaM).  You will empower and motivate both our male and female residents and participants to achieve their personal goals and gain greater independence, supporting their reintegration into the community. You will provide tailored, person-centred support using a recovery model, ensuring our services are flexible and responsive to individual needs while meeting the expectations of our commissioners and stakeholders.

Your focus is on successful community reintegration and a sustained quality of life, guided by a recovery model that enables clients to live, work, learn, and participate fully in their communities through interactive and preventative approaches. We provide supported accommodation within a forensic step-down service, delivering residential and community-based support. We provide intensive accommodation-based support (six flats) and floating support (dispersed flats) designed to address the complex and challenging needs of our residents and participants. Support includes medication support, supervision, and regular health and safety checks, tailored to meet the complex and challenging needs of our residents and participants.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents at all times
• Focusing on empowering our residents to take control over their lives and meet their personal goals
• Planning activities to engage residents with other people, communities, and opportunities

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced Registered Practitioner Psychologist with a background in clinical psychology to join our team in Croydon. The service offers a psychologically informed environment across four sites, providing low to high support forensic mental health services to our residents with forensic mental health needs, complex conditions, and dual diagnosis. In this role, you will drive the delivery of evidence based psychological assessments and interventions aimed at the rehabilitation and reintegration of our residents into the communities. This is a creative, evolving, and impactful role which works closely with our Group Psychological Lead and wider teams to provide support to staff and at times residents to support in providing a streamlined and psychologically informed service.

Key Responsibilities include: 

• Provide advice, guidance, and support to the team with supporting our residents to overcome personal challenges and create a supportive environment
• Advise and streamline best practices, and enhance the overall skills and expertise of the team to deliver high quality care and support
• Provide clinical supervision to the team
• Provide highly specialised psychological assessments for our residents with mental health and complex needs

About You

About the Role

We’re looking for a Night Engagement Worker to join the team in Catford. You will support within the Offender Personality Disorder Housing Accommodation to support in successfully rehabilitating and reintegrating our residents and participants back into the community. The service delivers support for people in the criminal justice system who are deemed high risk, and likely to meet criteria for personality disorder. Penrose OPD HASS service offers specialist accommodation to people with high risk/high needs and require intensive support to overcome barriers to resettlement and progress towards independent living in the community.

You will assist with those who have recently been released from prison, secure health settings, or are transitioning from Approved Premises. Your role will involve supporting all aspects of key engagement activities, aiding their rehabilitation, reablement, and reintegration into society by providing pathways, support, and appropriate interventions, that will enable successful resettlements and work with internal and external partners and agencies to achieve desired outcomes. 

Key Responsibilities include:

• Support residents who may be facing challenges with substance misuse, helping them take positive steps forward.
• Creating one to one person centred support plans to support residents in achieving their goals.
• Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents at all times during the shift, including regular check ins and carrying our protocols.
• Planning activities to engage residents with other people, communities, and opportunities during the evening which may include movie nights and games nights.
• Lone working is part of the role, but you’ll always have a supportive team around.
• Be a valued and reliable member of the team, completing handovers for day colleagues for a seamless service.

About this key role
As a Female Child Criminal Exploitation Mentor, you will provide intensive support to young women and girls who have been identified as being at risk of, or involved in, exploitation and related harms.

Working on a one-to-one basis, as well as delivering groupwork sessions, you will build trusted relationships with young people and their families, helping them to recognise risks, increase their safety and make positive changes in their lives.

You will work closely with partner agencies to coordinate support, contribute to safeguarding and risk management processes, and provide advice and guidance to professionals working with vulnerable young women.

• Experience of engaging positively with young females or other vulnerable groups.
• Experience providing support, advice, advocacy or mentoring to individuals with complex needs.

About the service

This new community-based service will provide intensive support to children and young people aged 11–25 who are at risk of, involved in, or affected by serious youth violence.

Working closely with Police, NHS and safeguarding partners, the service will support young people who present at hospital with violence-related injuries, have been arrested or identified as being involved in serious youth violence, or who are vulnerable to exploitation, re-injury or further offending.

The service aims to intervene at critical moments, using trauma-informed approaches to improve safety, reduce risk and help young people access positive opportunities and support.

About this key role
As an A&E and Custody Mentor, you will provide intensive one-to-one mentoring and support to up to 40-50 children and young people annually who are affected by criminality, exploitation, gang involvement, or the justice system, improving their safety, wellbeing and life outcomes.

You will respond quickly to referrals, often following a hospital admission, arrest or safeguarding concern, using these critical moments as opportunities to begin meaningful engagement and support. You will build trusted relationships with children and young people and their families, helping them to increase their safety, develop resilience and make positive changes that reduce the risk of future harm.

You will also undertake in-reach work within hospital settings, including A&E departments, as well as community outreach across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.

What we are looking for

• Experience of working with children and young people affected by exploitation, gang involvement, county lines, serious youth violence or related vulnerabilities.
• Experience building positive relationships with women and young girls and their families and supporting them to achieve positive outcomes.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Support Coach to join our new Independent Approved Premises (IAP) covering the night shift on a rolling rota. You will play a key role in supporting our residents who have left prison and are based within a residential setting to reintegrate into the community. You will develop and engage with our residents to produce tailored support plans which support their individual needs in successful rehabilitation and reintegration within the community. You will identify their needs, goals and skills, and then support and motivate them to achieve their potential. The service holds a strong focus on public protection and effective risk management.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents and participants at all times
• Engaging with residents throughout the night, ensuring they are adhering to their license conditions. This may include planning activities to engage with them such as movie nights, games nights, and other activities applicable
• Be a valued and reliable member of the team on the night shift, completing handovers for day colleagues for a seamless service
