We’re seeking a determined, values-driven Director of Fundraising to drive income generation across several different disciplines, helping to ensure we can continue delivering vital support to people affected by brain injury.

This role isn’t just about setting strategy; it’s about being actively involved in in a hands-on capacity as you build relationships and lead fundraising efforts across community, individual giving, corporate partnerships, events, legacies and trusts fundraising.

You will also oversee and support the Head of Retail, ensuring that income from our charity shops contributes effectively to the organisation’s overall financial sustainability and growth.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will also have the opportunity to shape Headway’s future and contribute to key decisions across the charity, including working with trustees and contributing to board meetings.

Key areas of accountability

• Develop, maintain, and evolve a multi‑year fundraising strategy (3‑5 years) aligned with Headway’s strategy, priorities, and risk appetite.
• Lead the development and delivery of income generation plans across all fundraising channels (retail, individual giving, corporate partnerships, trusts and foundations, events, legacies, and community fundraising), translating organisational objectives into clear annual targets, growth strategies, and actionable fundraising plans.
• Personally lead on key fundraising initiatives, cultivating and stewarding donor relationships while overseeing a diverse portfolio of fundraising activities.
• Use data-driven insights to evaluate performance, inform strategy, and identify opportunities for growth.
• Manage and inspire a fundraising team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and professional development.
• Oversee the Head of Retail and ensure the effective operation and strategic development of Headway’s charity shops.
• Monitor fundraising performance and report on progress to the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees.

About you

We’re looking for an experienced fundraiser who has performed at a director level or equivalent, ideally at a charity with a UK-wide reach.

You will be able to nurture and develop the fundraising team, building a strong culture in line with the organisation’s values, and motivating others to achieve shared goals by using your working knowledge of various fundraising disciplines.

You will be a skilled communicator, able to build relationships with and instil confidence in internal and external stakeholders including donors, supporters, and colleagues.

You will be confident and proficient in using CRM systems and fundraising platforms to manage supporter data, analyse performance and support donor engagement with data-informed decision making.

And you will be able to combine a strategic and analytic mindset with proactive, hands-on fundraising.

• You will be automatically enrolled into the People’s Pension. This is based on your contribution of 5% and with Headway UK contributing 3%. For every 1% you increase above this, Headway UK will increase its contributions by 1% up to a total maximum of 6%.

About the Advisory Panel
The Advisory Panel is a meeting of the four Council’s committees (Companies, Education, Registration, and Standards) in plenary session. They are established by statute for the purpose of giving advice and assistance to Council (whether or not in response to a request from them) on:

• matters relating to business registrants other than matters required by the Opticians Act to be referred to the Investigation Committee, the Registration Appeals, Committee or the Fitness to Practise Committee; 

• matters relating to optical training, education, and assessment; 

• matters relating to registration, other than matters required by the Opticians Act to be considered by the Registration Appeals Committee; and 

• matters relating to the standards of conduct and performance expected of registrants or those seeking admission to the register. 

Time Commitment and Remuneration 

This role is part time with a commitment of approximately 2-3 days per year, including time spent preparing for meetings.  Meetings will usually take place via MS Teams but may on occasion be held at the GOC Offices in London or other suitable venues.

A daily fee of £319 will be paid. This is in line with our member fees policy and member fee schedule.  This is taxable and subject to Class 1 National Insurance (NI) contributions. It is not pensionable.

Members can claim expenses for travel and subsistence costs incurred on Council business as set out in our expenses policy.

What the job involves

Our Events and Community Fundraising team raises vital funds for Prostate Cancer UK through a wide range of activities, events and challenges. Alongside our own flagship events, we recruit teams for some of the UK’s best-loved sporting events, including the TCS London Marathon, Great North Run and the London Landmarks Half Marathon. The team also organise our flagship walking event, March for Men, and our Tour de France themed cycling event, the Grand Depart Classic.

As Senior Sporting Events Executive, you’ll take the operational lead in delivering income across our third-party events programme, alongside project managing our team of London Marathon runners. You’ll manage at least one Events and Community Coordinator, supporting their development and ensuring the team delivers outstanding supporter care at every stage. You’ll also play a key role in spotting and developing new opportunities within the charity events market.

This is a hands-on role covering every aspect of event delivery; from leading project meetings, setting budgets and developing marketing plans, to crafting supporter communications, managing logistics and providing on-the-day event support. You’ll also oversee post-event processes such as remittance and thanking supporters, ensuring we maximise income and provide a first-class experience for every participant. Working closely with teams across the charity, you’ll help deliver a packed calendar of events and take the lead in coordinating our brilliant volunteers on event days.

Job Summary 

The Head of Student Representation is a critical member of the Students’ Union’s Delivery senior team and leads Durham SU’s work in influencing Durham University in students’ academic interests, through the support of student leaders and volunteers. The Head manages the Student Voice team, which coordinate support for academic representatives, and which provides policy advice to student leaders and the Durham SU senior staff.

The Head is also the operational lead for data protection, information governance, and data analysis. 

Key Responsibilities and Duties 

The Head of Student Representation is responsible for the performance, growth and sustainability of Durham SU’s professional staff team and volunteers, organised to support faculty and academic representatives.

In particular, the Head will: 

• Lead effective support for Durham student leaders who want to help make Durham University education better and fairer. 

• Anticipate and respond to student need in their education, seek and seize opportunity, and manage risk. 

• Ensure that Durham SU and its student leaders can, and do, speak with authority on matters impacting Durham students’ education, on behalf of the wider student community. 

• Provide advice and make recommendations to student leaders, Durham SU senior staff and the Board of Trustees on policy development within their area of responsibility.

About you:

You will be motivated, have excellent communication skills and strong leadership capabilities. 

You will have a degree or diploma in health, management or a related field, and a high level of experience in leading and delivering successful transformation or improvement projects.

You will have experience of working with complex data and will be able to demonstrate excellent analytical skills ensuring robust analysis and clear presentation of data to a wide range of audiences. You will have experience of managing projects and / or programmes in complex organisations and a track record of delivery. The role works alongside clinical teams to lead, develop and embed changes. You may or may not be a clinician, but it is critical that you understand how clinicians work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Executive Support

• Act as liaison between the CEO and internal and external stakeholders, drafting communications and ensuring clear, timely information flow; supporting scheduling of meetings and tracking of actions and, with support from the CRM Manager, ensuring key contacts and relationship data are accurately and securely maintained on the organisation’s central database.
• Coordinate meetings and agendas with the CEO, Director of Finance and Operations, Chair of the Board, and Board sub-committees; manage papers and follow-up actions.
• Organise external meetings, including venue liaison, room bookings, and travel arrangements.
• Provide administrative support to the Senior Management Team (SMT), including preparing reports, presentations, and other materials as required.
• Coordinate SMT and Programme Board meetings including compilation and circulation of agendas and supporting documents.
• Prepare regular status updates on project progress; maintain a record of agreed actions from meetings and liaise with team members to gather updates and ensure timely completion.
• Act as a point of contact between the Senior Management Team and working groups focused on Equity, Diversity & Inclusion and Well-being.

Board Support & Impact Reporting

• Support board-level processes by coordinating meeting logistics; prepare, compile and circulate materials including agendas, minutes, reports, and presentations;.
• Maintain accurate records of meetings including tracking and reporting on Board decisions and action items, ensuring timely follow-up and completion.
• Assist in developing and maintaining risk management and impact reporting frameworks and tools for the Trustee Board.
• Collect, analyse, and report on data related to AVUK’s strategic programme impact and outcomes.

Governance and Additional EA Support Duties

• Support the Director of Finance and Operations and Operations Manager to ensure AVUK’s legal obligations regarding governance, record-keeping and reporting requirements are maintained.
• Oversee office management and liaise with landlords at AVUK centres in London, Bicester, and flexible workspaces in Glasgow and Leeds.
• Manage special projects and initiatives as assigned by the CEO or Senior Management Team, including planning and execution.

These responsibilities are not exhaustive and will be reviewed, in consultation with the post-holder, from time-to-time and amended in light of the changing needs of the charity and experience and development of the post-holder.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• Proven experience as an Executive Assistant in a similar role, or in direct organisational management.

Role Overview

We are seeking an organised, proactive, and detail-oriented Property Department
Coordinator to provide high-level executive support to the Director of Property and coordination
across the department. This pivotal role will combine Executive Assistant responsibilities with
departmental coordination, ensuring the smooth running of operations, the effective flow of
information, and the delivery of accurate data and reports to internal and external stakeholders.

You will work closely with the Director of Property and two Heads of Function, whose specialist
teams manage the organisation’s diverse property portfolio. You will play a key role in preparing
materials for the Board of Trustees, coordinating the quarterly Property Committee, and
supporting departmental projects.

You will ensure timely flow of information and reporting between the team and stakeholders,
including SLT, Trustees and suppliers / contractors.

Key Responsibilities

Executive Assistant to the Director of Property

•  Manage the Director’s diary, meetings, and travel arrangements.
•  Prepare agendas, take minutes of meetings, and follow up actions for key meetings.
•  Draft correspondence, briefings, and presentations for the Director.
• Support the Director in tracking actions, deadlines and project progress.

Department Coordination

• Act as the central coordination point across the department, ensuring smooth communication between the Director, Heads of Functions, and their teams.
• Maintain departmental work plans, timelines, and trackers.

• Manage the adminstration of the Charity’s insurance cover and policy

  Board and Committee Support
• Coordinate quarterly Property Committee meetings: arrange logistics, prepare and
  circulate papers, and take accurate minutes.
• Work with the Director to prepare papers and reports for the Board of Trustees.
• Ensure all governance requirements are met in relation to committee administration.

The Role

Planning and delivery of the Greyhound Trust’s fundraising from individuals to support delivery of our organisational strategy.

This is a new role within our new and growing income generation and engagement team. Reporting to the Head of Income Generation and Engagement, the Greyhound Trust looks to you to review and develop current Individual Giving income streams, identify and implement new opportunities and deliver a sustainable growth plan suited to the Greyhound Trust brand, stakeholders, resources and strategic aspirations. We need to build a strong financial foundation that will allow us to care for and home even more greyhounds both today and in the future, engaging new supporters and motivating existing ones to continue their support.

What you will do

• Under the direction of the Head of Income Generation and Engagement, create, deliver and evaluate a long-term Individual Giving strategy.
• Build a diverse and sustainable individual giving portfolio suited to the Greyhound Trust brand, stakeholders, resources and growth aspirations.
• Plan and deliver engaging multi-channel fundraising campaigns, appeals and/or product promotions
• Use data and insight to drive performance, monitor results, and build cases for support.
