Age UK Kensington & Chelsea offers dementia services which make a real difference to residents affected by the condition living in the Borough. Those services include advice, practical help, befriending, social activities and emotional support. The Dementia Support Worker is responsible for managing a caseload of individual clients, providing practical and emotional support to the most isolated and vulnerable in our community. This role offers an exciting opportunity to grow and develop a Dementia Service that was launched at Age UK Westminster in 2022. Offering a weekly community-based Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy group that provides a vital contribution to living well with dementia and a monthly Memory Cafe, we are looking for someone with the knowledge, skills, experience and passion to ensure that more residents can benefit from this Service.
Summary of role Age UK Westminster launched its Dementia Service in 2022 supporting older people (aged 50+) living in the City of Westminster who are experiencing memory and cognitive impairment and are experiencing confusion and dementia resulting in severe social isolation. The service also supports those who are caring for people with these issues.
In 2024 the ambition is to grow the reach of the successful monthly ‘Heart of Westminster' Cafe delivered in partnership with the Salvation Army’s Regent Hall and a weekly community-based MCST group and provide expertise to the Befriending team to manage some befriending matches. Demonstrating the value of these community-based activities and ensuring they are supported by a trained and supported volunteer team will contribute to securing continuation funding.
The role will involve close liaison with Westminster’s Memory Service and other community organisations that support older people living with memory loss and dementia.
Key responsibilities
● Co-ordinate the successful running of the monthly ‘Heart of Westminster’ Cafe in the Soho ward of the City of Westminster.
● Co-ordinate the successful running of up to two weekly MCST groups at Marylebone Church in Westminster including the co-ordination and triage of referrals for MCST groups
● Ensure the design and provision of activities and information that will enhance the lives of those attending and their carers. There is a significant resource bank of materials and activities
● Facilitate an environment where acceptance of dementia will bring about positive feelings for anyone affected by it
● Promote the service across Westminster to ensure that all those who would benefit are able to attend. This will include working with other professionals and ensuring that publicity materials are available
● Working with colleagues at Age UK Westminster and other professionals to identify and assess individuals who would benefit from being matched with a trained dementia volunteer. Home-visiting may be required.
● Deliver dementia awareness training to staff and volunteers
● Working with Age UK Westminster’s Volunteer Coordinator grow the volunteer resource
● Provide ongoing support and supervision to the team of Dementia volunteers

Dementia UK offer hybrid working between their office location and home, with requirements of working from their office 1-2 days per week. Salary for this role is between £40-45k per year.
The Marketing Communications Planning Manager is responsible for planning and ensuring the delivery of a strategically aligned plan for the Marketing and Communications Team. Collaborating with others, the post holder will ensure the delivery of insight-led campaigns, planned for the right audience, across the right channel, delivering effective content and messages in the most impactful way.
Working with the Marketing and Brand Lead, they will play a key role in setting our communications priorities and planning key organisational communication ‘moments’, such as our brand campaigns and World Alzheimer’s Month. The post holder will manage the delivery of these campaigns, as well as be a central point of contact for colleagues in projects requiring support across our Marketing, Digital and Media Teams.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop channel strategies – working with the Marketing and Brand Lead, plan and execute campaigns, determining which platforms would have the most impact and working with relevant colleagues to adapt assets to suit the channel they’re being used on.
· Manage marketing and planning briefs – for priority projects, be the first point of contact for marketing briefs, refining briefs, advising colleagues on channel strategies and liaising with Marcomms teams to deliver campaigns and content.

Working within the supporter care team you will be responsible for processing a high volume of donations. Reporting to the Supporter Care Manager, the Gift Processing Officer will handle post, cheques, cash and charity vouchers, working carefully with our database to record income and thank all supporters who give to Dementia UK.
The ideal candidate will possess previous experience in database management, demonstrating a keen eye for detail and strong numeracy skills. You will have high computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel. The Peer Support In-Reach Service is a partnership between several local Minds. Peer Support Workers and Senior Peer Support Workers, who have direct lived experience of mental health issues, are working on in-patient wards in Croydon, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Wandsworth to provide recovery-focused peer support to people as they leave hospital and journey towards being settled in the community and living independently.
South East London Mind have a vacancy for a part-time Senior Peer Support Worker to join the team in Lewisham and line manage a Peer Support Worker.
The successful candidate will have personal lived experience of mental health problems, as well as experience of managing staff or volunteers. You will need to be able to travel around the local area to meet your clients in the community and work in hospitals.
You will use your lived experience to help people build skills to develop independence, connect with family and friends, pursue social or vocational interests, get more involved in their local community and stay healthy and mentally well. Your support will be person-centred and may include mentoring, coaching, facilitating access to community activities and providing practical and emotional support. You will meet people before they leave the ward and work with them to develop their own support plan, empowering them as they transition back into the community.

Are you passionate about improving support for families affected by substance misuse?
This could be the perfect role for you! The Family Support Worker is an exciting role within a growing and dynamic team, where you can help to make a real difference to the lives of unpaid carers in Lambeth.
Having identified a gap in the identification of young carers and adult carers looking after someone with substance misuse issues, over the past year we have successfully piloted a project to identify and provide long-term support to these carers. We are now entering the second year of the project, and are looking for a new Family Support Worker to bring their expertise, enthuasism and ideas to the next stage of the project.
The Family Support Worker will work across our Young Carers and Adult Carers Service to provide support to families affected by substance misuse, through whole-family assessments and reviews. The successful candidate will ensure that adult and young carers, and their families, have access to a range of emotional and practical support appropriate to their needs.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of working within the substance misuse field and an understanding of associated health and social issues. They will preferably have experience of working with both adults, children and young people. We are seeking candidates with a professional qualification in health & social care, youth or community work, and/or direct experience of delivering family focused interventions.

Carers’ Hub plays a vital role in Lambeth, supporting the many unpaid carers across the borough. Our work stems from the fact that carers often go about their roles despite the toll it might take on their own wellbeing, often having to make sacrifices that hamper their own ability to lead a normal life. Supporter Engagement is one of the most important teams that is central to the success of Alzheimer’s Society. The function of the team is to manage multi-channel communications with our supporters, both inbound and outbound. The team manage emails, telephone calls and social media interactions and is part of the wider Supporter Experience Department.
The team has a very bespoke tone of voice when managing the high volume of interactions but has the autonomy to manage their own workday within guidelines. In this role you will be the first point of contact delivering an excellent supporter experience to members of the public and Alzheimer’s Society’s supporters. Through answering queries and proactively delivering exceptional levels of stewardship you will build rapport and inspire supporters and potential supporters about our work, whilst maintaining accurate system records that reflect and enhance the supporter experience.
