The role
We’re looking for a Volunteer Development Officer to support us in the delivery and development of high quality volunteering across our organisation. You will champion and support volunteering in Citizens Advice and influence the position and profile of volunteering across the service. You’ll work closely with the Head of Volunteering to support the delivery of the new volunteering strategy, ensuring that stakeholders from across the organisation are engaged in its development. You’ll provide operational volunteer management direction and support and maintain high standards in volunteering through the provision of guidance, tools, information and training.

This is a hugely exciting opportunity to join Gloucester Cathedral as it enters a key period of development. Main Purpose and Scope of the Role

The Development Director will be a key part of the Action4Youth Senior Management Team, contributing to strategic development of the whole organisation and taking responsibility for the leadership and management of all aspects of business development, sales, fundraising, marketing and communications.

The Development Director will ensure development to support the Strategic and Operational Plans in order to achieve growth, sustainability and stability and to support the Action4Youth core offer i.e.  programme delivery and outdoor education.

Because Action4Youth is a relatively small organisation, teams are small and this means that even senior members of the team like Directors may have to cover for a team member when on leave or generally help out as necessary to achieve targets. In this particular role, that could mean undertaking basic tasks like completing a funding bid to meet a deadline, updating a webpage, writing blog posts or handling sales calls. This job is unusual in genuinely being both strategic and hands on.

Networking is an important part of this role so the post holder will often be expected to attend out of hours events to represent Action4Youth and to develop valuable relationships and connections.

Development/Sales

Fundraising

Leadership

• To be a key part of Action4Youth’s leadership team

The Development Manager (Trust and Foundations) will manage the strategic development of Trusts and Foundations fundraising, identifying opportunities to drive growth in this area. The post-holder will oversee income generation from grant-making organisations and ensure timely reporting to funders.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following essential requirements:

• Drive growth of Trusts and Foundations income especially at the five- and six-figure level, with a particular view to supporting unrestricted income and major projects in the organisation’s pipeline.
• Proactively manage a personal portfolio of Trusts and Foundations, regularly meeting and engaging with prospective funders to pitch proposals and check-in around expectations. 
• Liaise with key internal stakeholders to develop accurate, compelling funding applications in line with deadlines set by funders. 
• Build lasting relationships with funders in order to establish opportunities for multi-year income generation.
• Drive the Trusts and Foundations prospecting process and increase the range of prospects approached for support, utilising prospect research tools and securing introductions from our network. 

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the Chief Executive, the post-holder will lead on all aspects of development, marketing and fundraising, and people/HR development; maintaining high level relationships with donors and prospective donors and maximising opportunities to secure new sources of income from individuals, companies and charitable trusts, as well as improving our internal comms.

We are looking for someone who has experience working in collaborative environments to meet organisational goals and build and manage relationships. They will demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop in order to surface and establish partnerships, lead funding bids, develop our people, and act as a key representative of the Centre to the outside world.

Kingston Voluntary Action (KVA) is a long-established and well-respected infrastructure support organisation for the voluntary and community sector in Kingston. As Director of Development, your key focus will be to harness this momentum to grow our charitable income and develop new revenue streams, enabling us to invest in making a greater impact. · Developing a Soil Association Group fundraising strategy to deliver our strategic plan and growth objectives.

· Leading our Fundraising and Supporter Development teams, ensuring targets are achieved and supporting their personal and professional development.

· Working closely with colleagues to curate coherent and compelling funding propositions that support our work and impact.

· Establishing and cultivating key donor and funder relationships

· Representing the charity at external meetings and events

· Contributing to the overall strategic development of the Soil Association Group alongside other Directors, the Group Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees

You will likely have experience of working at a senior level in fundraising, but we are also happy to consider other backgrounds where income generation and stakeholder engagement have been important factors. An inspiring leader with a track record of generating income, raising funds or attracting investment, you will motivate your team and champion our cause to a wide range of stakeholders, potential funders and donors.

DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Contract: Permanent

The charity’s Development Manager will slot into the newly-formed Development Directorate, working with the Director of Development to deliver transformational programmes, projects and initiatives across the charity.

The postholder will have the opportunity to drive development across commercial, volunteering and grant-making activities, among others, and will manage a team including the Grants Officer and Volunteer Coordinator.

We are looking for a dynamic and driven Business Development Manager who can spearhead our fundraising initiatives, lead the development of new projects and support organisational change to facilitate the growth of our services.

Bexley Mencap is a small and dynamic local charity focused exclusively on supporting people with a learning disability and their families.  Our vision is that people with a learning disability are respected, valued and empowered to live life to the full.

About the role

As the Business Development Manager, you’ll be part of the Senior Leadership Team.  You’ll do everything to make sure that we have the capacity and resources we need to deliver on our strategy and ensure that every person with a learning disability can live life to the full.  You will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and sustainability of the organisation helping us to build upon our strong reputation and existing relationships.

About You

We are seeking a driven and determined candidate with proven experience in fundraising or business development ideally gained from the voluntary sector.  Our ideal candidate has an enthusiastic attitude as well as experience in developing and growing services.  We are looking for someone who aligns with our mission and we ask that all our staff live our organisation’s values and demonstrate them in their day-to-day work. 

You will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enable you to build authentic relationships with members, donors, partners and commissioners.  You will also need experience in leading change within an organisation, supporting our team on our journey of growth and sustainability.

You will need to be approachable, organised and have excellent communication skills with good IT skills to be able to excel in fundraising.

Duties Include:

Fundraising and project development:

· Lead the implementation of Bexley Mencap’s Fundraising Strategy; reviewing existing fundraising strategies, identifying opportunities for development and introducing innovative strategies to achieve fundraising goals. 

· Research and pursue new funding opportunities; including grants, legacies and social enterprise/earned income opportunities.

· Develop compelling cases for support, tailoring funding bids and applications accordingly

· Develop and maintain funding pipelines, providing reports to the Trustee Board

· Support and line manage part-time member of the team (may be required to support more staff if the role grows/adapts)

· Support the Chief Executive in extending and strengthening relationships with existing partners and developing new relationships

· Ensure all fundraising initiatives adhere to best practices, ethical guidelines and legislation

· Identify and evaluate opportunities for new projects and initiatives aligned with the mission and objectives of the organisation.

· Lead the development of project proposals, including conducting needs assessments, defining project scopes, and establishing timelines and budgets.

· Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful project implementation and delivery.

Organisational Change and Growth:

· Work closely with the senior leadership team to identify areas for organisational growth and improvement.

· Champion initiatives aimed at enhancing organisational capacity, efficiency, and sustainability.

· Support change management processes to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

· Coach, motivate and guide staff and volunteers

Other:

· To be familiar with and work within the organisation and the service’s values policies and procedures, maintaining records and reports accordingly.

· To be a part of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting the wider team in the absence of other management.

· To attend and participate in team meetings, supervisions, appraisals and training as required
