You will hold an integral role at the DEC for accurately and efficiently managing DEC’s accounting function, ensuring compliance with charity and donor regulations. You will oversee budgeting, grant management, and donor reporting with transparency and accuracy. You will provide financial insights to support cross organisational projects and program delivery and hold a key role in developing and implementing financial strategies that align with our vision and strategic planning.

About You

You will be a confident communicator, who can engage with diverse internal & external stakeholders, including funders and partners, creating a collaborative approach to meet varying commitments. You must be ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or equivalent) with senior finance leadership experience in the non-profit or NGO sector and demonstrate strong understanding of charity accounting standards and donor compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Processes

• Ensure accurate income/expenditure recording, bank reconciliations, and daily donation processing.
• Manage monthly accounting routines, prepare management accounts, and lead budget/forecast reviews.
• Coordinate annual and strategic budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis.
• Oversee income reconciliation across multiple streams and liaise with fundraising teams.
• Review and process drawdown payments to member agencies.
• Maintain and update accounting systems and support procurement processes.

Financial Controls

• Lead annual accounts preparation and audits; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage pension schedules and benefits compliance.
• Ensure tax compliance (VAT, Corporation Tax, Employment Taxes).
• Audit gift aid claims and maintain robust financial control environment.
• Update financial policies, procedures, and systems, support due diligence standards.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

• Oversee appeal finances, income tracking, and fund allocation.
• Coordinate governance processes (e.g., Indicator of Capacity) with member agencies.
• Monitor legacy income and liaise with fundraising/legal teams.
• Deliver annual report and accounts; produce reports for executive team and committees.

Leadership & Team Management

• Deputise for the Director of Finance and Resources.
• Prepare papers for finance committees and membership groups.
• Oversee finance team members and provide leadership support.

About the DEC

The DEC is made up of 15 member charities who are experts in humanitarian aid and specialise in different areas of disaster response. They come together to speak in one voice and make fundraising more efficient when we launch an appeal. Our members fund our running costs, and we give them back the money we raise in our appeals to carry out their vital work.

You hold a critical and integral role for the growth and development of the DEC’s website and digital marketing, taking an audience and insight led approach to innovation and supporter engagement. The role builds on various workstreams, projects and innovation processes that have been developed in recent years.

You will be digitally astute with expertise in paid media and digital product development, and a confident communicator, who project manages with ease and leads and engages with diverse internal & external stakeholders to develop an effective, responsive and agile approach to fundraising and supporter engagement in the digital environment. You must have demonstrable knowledge of UX principles and tools, a working knowledge of Drupal (or equivalent CMS), HTML and CSS, and excellent knowledge of digital analytics, particularly Google Analytics and social platform analytics.

Key Responsibilities for this role, include:

Website Management: Act as Product Owner, oversee roadmap, UX testing, security, hosting, and SEO.

Digital Fundraising: Manage paid search, social media, programmatic advertising, and evergreen campaigns; optimise performance and ROI.

Innovation & Strategy: Develop new digital tools, lead AI strategy group, drive product development from ideation to MVP, and foster a culture of innovation.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate across teams, manage external agencies, and lead digital collaboration with member charities.

Financial & Risk Management: Oversee £100k+ budgets, ensure compliance, report on performance, and mitigate digital risks.

Digital & Innovation Strategy and ensure adherence to legal and ethical standards, maintaining best practices in equality and accessibility.  Design and deliver programmes that build awareness and capability around inclusive behaviours.

Data & trends: Monitor, analyse, and report on D&I metrics to measure progress and inform future actions. Stay ahead of trends, lead new initiatives, and represent the organisation in external forums to promote our commitment to inclusion.

Responsible to: Senior Emergency Supply Chain Specialist and Programmes Supply Chain Manager

Location: Truro, Cornwall or remote working (UK only) (with regular travel to Truro)

Travel: Work away from home, this may be UK or overseas. Travel can include deploying to

support rapid emergency responses, possibly up to or around 12 weeks depending on

context, in-country programmes, business trips and attending/delivering training. You may

be required to work away from home up to 50% of your time in any calendar year.

ROLE PURPOSE:

This Emergency Supply Chain Specialist will be a global core member of the Supply Chain Team, within the International Programmes Directorate and will report to the Senior Emergency Supply Chain Specialist. This key stakeholder role will work closely within the Emergency Response Team, which is responsible for assessing and responding to rapidly developing humanitarian crises.

This role will lead and contribute to the Supply Chain activities of ShelterBox's humanitarian responses at country level and remotely, depending on context and scale

In collaboration with the programme team, the wider supply chain stakeholder group and partner organisations, the Emergency Supply Chain Specialist will design and implement the supply chain strategy for ShelterBox emergency responses, following a sudden onset disaster.

This will include but is not limited to coordination of international, regional and local transportation, procuring stock and services, inventory management including release and distribution of stock, partner selection and due diligence, last mile logistics and overall ensuring end to end delivery.

Outside of rapid onset emergencies, the position requires the individual to support and lead on additional project supply chain activities, be active in preparedness and planning, provide tactical and strategic inputs in support of ShelterBox's growth ambition, and promote capacity strengthening and partner development.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

It is expected that the Emergency Supply Chain Specialist will have significant emergency response experience in humanitarian supply chain, at international, regional and country level. The Emergency Supply Chain Specialist is an enthusiastic team member and a creative problem-solver with a keen eye for detail. They see opportunities in challenges and have outstanding interpersonal skills. This role would be ideally suited to someone with HQ, humanitarian and country facing experience, but who is looking for emergency deployments balanced by providing remote support to responses. We therefore look forward to welcoming candidates who remain flexible and open to change.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

• Lead and coordinate the design of the supply chain to assigned disasters including assessing and selecting supply options/routes, researching tax free importation procedures, developing last-mile logistics, operational services and local procurement, partner-led procurement and cash modalities to ensure high quality, timely responses.
• Responsible for tendering emergency international freight requests ensuring best value, service and accountability.
• Overseeing shipping of aid items by air, sea, road or rail and arranging the preparation and provision of relevant shipping documentation.
• Deploy to responses, depending on requirements and context and be able to act as team lead, in a supply chain capacity, to set and manage the timely delivery of aid items.
• Whilst you are unlikely to respond for more than 12 weeks at any one time, you may be required to deploy for up to 50% of your time in any calendar year, to support response delivery, preparedness, project planning, trainings and organisational meetings.
• Provide supply chain HQ backstop support to emergency responses as required, this may also include providing support to ongoing projects and programmes.
• Establish, coordinate and engage with supply chain partners such as freight forwarders, suppliers, peer and humanitarian stakeholders, relevant government departments and logistics coordination mechanisms at both global and country level.
• Be influential regarding aspects of supply chain in emergencies and across the wider team. Be solutions focused and be an active, evidenced based decision maker in support of other supply chain managers.
• Identify, mitigate and record supply chain risks in emergency responses, escalating when required to ensure full organisational accountability.
• Contribute to delivering Supply Chain emergency preparedness activities, when not actively responding, globally.
• Coordinate with the Global Supply Chain Manager and Senior Emergency Supply Chain Specialist to oversee emergency prepositioned inventory, ensuring access routes for stock in emergencies.
• Work with the Emergency and Supply Chain teams to streamline supply chain systems and processes, enabling timely responses whilst identifying areas for improvement and development.
• Active participation and collaboration in strengthening emergency supply chain capacity, including upskilling Emergency Team members and coaching and mentoring ShelterBox Response Team (SRT) volunteers.
• On a roster, provide an out-of-hours first point of contact for emergencies and deployed teams at designated times through-out the year and according to context.
• Contribute to driving forward changes to meet our sustainable supply chain targets such as significant reduction in carbon emissions.
• Give regular briefings internally, and occasionally externally on ShelterBox responses
• Maintain excellent information management using Business Central and organisational project management tools and platforms to ensure accurate record keeping and accountability.
• Promote and demonstrate humanitarian principles in all activities.
• Ensure adherence to ShelterBox procedures and policies including those relating to safeguarding, safety and security and all Codes of Conduct.
• Any other duties as required which are deemed appropriate to the level and grade of the post.

Travel: Work away from home, this may be UK or overseas training or an in-country deployment. You may be required to deploy for up to 50% of your time in any calendar year within 72 hours' notice. Deployments may last between 7 days and 3 months as standard, any deployments which exceed 3 months will be discussed and agreed by your Line Manager ahead of the 3-month time period being reached.

ROLE PURPOSE:

ShelterBox's Programme Delivery Team is divided into 4 sections - MENA/Asia, East and Southern Africa (ESA), West Africa and Latin American and the Caribbean, and the Philippines. These sections are headed by a Regional Director, who is responsible for the delivery of rapid-on set, protracted and preparedness projects in their regions. ShelterBox's Emergency Team supports the Regional Teams in the delivery of these projects. Each Emergency Coordinator is assigned to a Region but can be deployed to cover an emergency across the world depending on current capacity of the team.

As an Emergency Coordinator within ShelterBox's Emergency Team, you will be responsible for assessing and responding to emergency shelter needs because of sudden onset and/or rapidly escalating crises across the globe.

This role will support communities affected by disaster by establishing and managing ShelterBox's humanitarian responses in partnership, delivering impactful outcomes at speed and scale. Fast-paced relationship building, partnership brokering, and project management skills are essential.

Emergency Coordinators are often the most senior ShelterBox representative on the ground during an emergency response and are typically responsible for leading multi-disciplinary teams inclusive of response team volunteers. The role is highly deployable, and you can expect to work in austere conditions in countries affected by disaster. When working from the UK, either at our HQ in Truro, Cornwall or remotely from home, your time will be spent supporting an allocated region in the delivery of their project and preparedness portfolio. The Emergency Coordinator will also work with the Head of Emergency Response to support the technical emergency improvement initiatives as part of ShelterBox's strategy. This is likely to include the development of tools and processes, as well as work on emergency preparedness.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

ShelterBox is seeking a delivery-focused, practical, and proactive individual with experience of working in humanitarian emergency settings. This role would suit someone with humanitarian experience, who is looking for shorter emergency deployments balanced by remote management of responses. The right person will have experience of project development and day-to-day management, risk management and meeting and reporting against agreed objectives.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

• Establish, design and manage the delivery of emergency response projects to assigned disasters in line with the organisational and programme strategies, policies, and procedures
• Support the delivery and implementation of preparedness planning and activities during time of non-response, working with regional directors and colleagues when not deployed
• Ensure timely, safe, and impactful project/programme design and implementation, through close coordination with the wider Regional Team and key support functions, including Finance, MEAL, Safety and Security, Shelter Technical and Supply Chain
• Provide the first point of contact for deployed teams and disaster monitoring on a 24/7 routine and emergency basis as part of a roster
• Deploy to areas affected by disaster, act as Project Lead when required and provide leadership and mentoring to team members, as identified by the relevant Regional Director and Head of Emergency
• Initiate and sustain strong and mutually beneficial partnerships with local and international organisations - develop working relationships and effectively coordinate with other actors
• Work closely with the Travel Security Management team to prioritise the safety of our teams. Adapt to evolving issues that could adversely affect ShelterBox staff, partners and/or project delivery
• Prioritise 'do no harm' principles. Ensure those who encounter ShelterBox as a result of our activities are safeguarded from deliberate or inadvertent actions and failing which place them at risk or abuse, sexual exploitation, injury, and any other harm
• Work closely with the Deployments Manager and Learning & Development to ensure appropriate resourcing from staff and volunteers, including supporting the delivery of training
• Maintain effective and coordinated budget management, working closely with the Programme Funding and Finance teams to ensure appropriate monitoring processes are in place
• Maximise contributions in support of Fundraising efforts, including media engagements from HQ and/or during deployments
• Provide timely updates on project delivery and impact to Regional and Emergency leadership and report verbally or in written format to internal and external audiences as required
• Lead a culture that actively promotes improvements in its practices, processes, and outcomes, across all aspects of its work, seeking feedback from all stakeholders
• Represent ShelterBox in any capacity as required as appropriate.
• Work away from home, this may be UK or overseas training or deployment to disaster affected areas. Whilst you are unlikely to respond more than six weeks at any one time, you may be required to deploy for up to 50% of your time in any calendar year.

We are seeking a dynamic Carers in Employment Lead to drive a countywide initiative across West Sussex, engaging small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to identify and support employees who have caring responsibilities. 

You’ll lead outreach to develop new partnerships, deliver training, and work closely with employers to embed carer-friendly policies and practices, helping to create inclusive, supportive workplaces.

Building Tomorrow – Neighbourhood Housing Project Lead

Oasis exists to build stronger communities where there is no one left out. Building Tomorrow is an innovative new neighbourhood housing programme that Oasis is developing in Sheffield and Scunthorpe.

We are pioneering a new community-led solution to housing challenges in two communities where Oasis already works, running five schools and two community Hubs. We are working to develop quality housing that offers opportunity for families to find a stable and supportive place of belonging in community.

The programme will combine quality housing, excellent education (provided through Oasis academies), and community wrap-around support (delivered through our existing youth and community teams). This programme is designed to offer a preventative approach to housing challenges, acting as a proof of concept that can be replicated in other communities around the country. 

This role will act as the central point of coordination which will ensure Building Tomorrow moves successfully from initiation to full activation over the initial 18-month period. In the activation period, we will purchase and refurbish the 20 properties, and this role will work in close coordination with our property consultants. As properties are purchased, we will begin to move into the delivery phase, where we start to house families.

What will you do?

The key areas of responsibility for the role are as follows:

· To act as the main link between all stakeholders: the Oasis teams including academies; contractors; and any community partners. To make sure everyone is communicating effectively and working toward the same goal.

· To work in close collaboration with Oasis Community Leaders in Sheffield and Scunthorpe. To support the Community Leaders and wider community teams to welcome families by acting as a key part of the community support offer through the 18-month activation phase.
