About the role:

As a Project Worker at our Stacey Street service in Islington, you’ll support adults who have experienced homelessness or rough sleeping to rebuild stability and move towards independent living. This is a hands-on role in a busy hostel environment where no two days are the same.

You’ll work directly with residents who may be navigating challenges linked to mental health, substance use, trauma or contact with the criminal justice system. Through strengths-based support planning and clear risk management, you’ll help individuals identify goals, overcome barriers and take practical steps forward. From supporting someone to engage with treatment, to sustaining a tenancy or accessing training and employment, your work will focus on realistic, sustainable progress.

Day to day, you’ll build trusted relationships whilst maintaining professional boundaries. You’ll collaborate with internal teams and external partners to coordinate the right support at the right time, ensuring residents are prepared for successful move-on. You’ll keep accurate records, respond calmly in challenging situations and contribute to a psychologically informed environment where people feel respected and motivated to change.

This role is about creating momentum. Essential

The role
This role will work collaboratively within Manchester City Council’s multi-disciplinary Thriving Families Team, to support families where children are open to Child Protection or Child In Need Plans. The Domestic Abuse Prevention Worker will engage directly with adults responsible for causing harm, aiming to increase perpetrator accountability and encourage positive change. Through one-on-one tailored interventions, the goal is to reduce risk to both victims and children, while enhancing the perpetrator's willingness to alter harmful behaviours.  The Domestic Abuse Prevention Worker will work collaboratively with the Thriving Families Team and other agencies, ensuring a multi-agency, whole family approach. Additionally, the worker liaises with victim/survivor services to assess risks, formulate safety plans to secure better outcomes for those impacted by domestic abuse.

About you

You’ll be confident in delivering direct work with those who use harm. This will include completing comprehensive assessments of risk and need to deliver tailored interventions. You’ll have direct experience of working therapeutically with a client group and be confident in addressing challenging and harmful behaviour. You will have experience of safeguarding processes and multi-agency working.

Overall Purpose of the Role

Operational Support Worker *(Female Only)

The Operational Support Worker plays a vital role in enabling the team to offer compassionate, Christ centred support to vulnerable women. You will work with women living in refuge within 2 London boroughs, to devise a support plan that meets their immediate practical and emotional needs and start the process of recovery, linking women into more specialist support services where required. The Multiple Disadvantage Worker will undertake risk assessments, safety plans and identify support needs of women such as accessing benefits, budgeting, and explore re settlement pathways from the refuge. You will promote social inclusion, encourage independence and development of personal resilience. You will build up support network for women, promoting and enabling engagement with other services. You will work in partnership with the refuge workers to deliver holistic support to the Multiple Disadvantage (MD) service users in each refuge. You will be expected to work with and support 5 service users in each borough.You will also be required to take on additional tasks in the refuge i.e. health and safety checks, reporting repairs, welfare checks etc.

About You 

You're an individual who has previous relevant experience and direct work within specialist support services to women/families with multiple needs. You'll also have case work experience, providing proactive and emotional support to women who have experienced domestic abuse and provide the support to enable them to recover and rebuild their lives.You bring experience of effective multi‑agency working and a proactive approach to building strong, collaborative partnerships, always representing the organisation with professionalism.

Evening / Weekend Support Worker (Substance Misuse)

We are looking for someone mature, motivated and caring to provide person-centred support to our residents in their recovery journey. If you have a heart to see people overcome substance misuse - to reset, recover, and restore their lives - please join our friendly team.

The post-holder will form part of our team of staff who support our residents in their recovery primarily outside of office hours. You will therefore have great inter-personal skills and the ability to implement firm but caring boundaries. In addition, you will be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks, including updating records and administering medication as well as managing the house during weekends and overnight.

This is a part-time role on a zero hours contract, including some evenings and weekends, so could work alongside other employment commitments. Hours negotiable.
