We are seeking Senior Community Support Workers (Positive Behaviour Support)to join a new short break residential home in Wythenshawe. You will provide first line management to a team of Community Support Worker (Positive Behaviour Support), developing their capability through demonstrating the right values and behaviours, mentoring staff, and supporting their ongoing development.

You will work alongside other practitioners within the residential home and community, to upskill and increase the resilience of children and their families. The residential home benefits from excellent public transport links and convenient access to community resources. Successful candidates will receive extensive training and on-the-job coaching from a well-qualified clinical team, Registered Manager, and Senior management team. Additionally, staff employed within the service will have the opportunity to receive formal Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) training and coaching from qualified behavioural specialists.

Working Pattern – 37.5 hours per week, worked flexibly over five days. Weekend working will be required.

Salary – £25,546 (£13.10ph) rising to £27,590 (£14.15) from April 2024 based on incremental pay progression.

25% pay enhancement for all weekend hours worked.

Location – Wythenshawe, Manchester.

As an Specialist Housing Support Worker you will deliver high quality and effective support services based at a Complex Needs hostel.  You will provide assertive Outreach support to encourage people who have been traditionally hard to engage with to access treatment, health and accommodation services and to support individuals in gaining information that enables them to make informed choices about their lives and to better manage their emotional and personal wellbeing. • You will provide support and advice in relation to housing and homelessness issues, benefit claims and advice, building skills to manage debts and budgeting, accessing community support groups, health and wellbeing services.

The service operates Monday to Sunday and the possible shifts are: 7am - 3pm, 9am - 5pm, 1pm - 9pm and 2pm - 10pm. This role also involves street outreach and will include early shifts starting at 7am and late shifts finishing at 10pm.

This role will require an Enhanced DBS check, a UK driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.

About KLS Love to Learn team

Since 2004, KLS Love to Learn education team of 10 part-time staff and over 100 volunteers, have supported thousands of young refugees and their families in Battersea and the London Borough of Wandsworth to thrive in their education. Through mentoring, family support, casework and homework clubs, we provide the tailored support each young person and their family/carers needs to overcome the barriers to education they face at home and school. 

Key Objectives:

Homework Clubs and Mentoring:

• Assess eligibility for Love to Learn.
• Obtain updated consent information.
• Develop session plans and source resources.
• Engage youth with interactive activities.
• Encourage participation and uphold behavior policy.
• Maintain records and safeguarding practices.
• Foster relationships with youth agencies and services.
• Assist Lead Youth Worker with post-16 club.
• Support Volunteer Coordinator in mentor matching.

Trips and Activities:

• Collaborate on annual activity programme.

Teamwork and Reporting:

• Coordinate with team members and external agencies.

Main Responsibilities

• As a children’s Residential Support Worker, you will work as part of a residential childcare team providing support for individuals with their physical, emotional, and social needs with an emphasis on promoting independence.

About you & Qualifications

• Ideally, we’re looking for someone with experience in a similar background, but it’s not essential as full training will be provided.
• Following a successful 6-month probation period, you will undertake a QCF level 3 or 4 qualification with support from an assessor and supervision.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills. You’ll be expected to liaise with other staff, parents/carers, and professionals.
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, taking the lead when required, maintaining & encouraging open and honest communication.
• You’ll be writing reports, so a good standard of written English and IT skills would be essential.
• Transporting children / young people to an activity or school is a requirement. A driving licence that has been held for 12 months would be desirable.

Summary of Role

We are seeking Community Support Workers (Positive Behaviour Support),to join a new short break residential home in Wythenshawe. Working within the residential home and out in the community, we aim to upskill and increase the resilience of children and their families.

Successful candidates will receive extensive training and on-the-job coaching from a well-qualified clinical team, Registered Manager, and Senior management team.
