About the role

As Senior Finance & Operations Manager at Future Frontiers, your role is to oversee the finance and operations functions for an ambitious social mobility charity with an income of circa £1.4m and a team of 20 people committed to achieving lasting impact for young people.

You will oversee day-to-day financial operations, manage a small team, and deliver accurate, timely reporting that supports strategic decision-making across the organisation. You will work closely with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure robust financial planning, compliance, and risk management. Your work will support and enable Future Frontiers’ mission and help us maximise our impact.

Your responsibilities

The focus of this role is on financial management and reporting for the organisation, as well as overseeing operations such as HR processes and IT. Core responsibilities include:

Financial Management and Reporting

• Run the monthly finance cycle to strict deadlines, ensuring accurate and complete data to support decision-making.
• Deliver concise monthly management accounts and variance analysis vs budget in a timely manner with insightful commentary to inform the CEO, SLT and Trustees.
• Oversee receipts and payments, reconciliations, and month-end procedures to ensure data accuracy and robust financial oversight.
• Lead on statutory accounts preparation and external audit to ensure full compliance and smooth audit outcomes.
• Continuously improve financial policies and processes to embed best practice and compliance with relevant legislation and Charity SORP.

Financial Planning

• Prepare annual budget documents, working closely with budget holders and supporting with forecasting and revisions to ensure realistic, well-informed financial plans that align with organisational strategy.
• Produce consolidated accounts, forecasts, and cashflows with commentary to support Trustees’ and SLT’s decision-making.
• Partner with SLT to provide financial analysis that drives operational efficiency and supports income generation and strategic projects.
• Support the SLT to develop multi-year income and expenditure forecasts to aid long-term funding and resource planning.
• Ensure the finance system structure, workflows and reporting remain fit for purpose and effectively support operations.

Operations and Compliance

• Manage relationships with key suppliers and outsourced providers, including landlords, payroll, pensions and insurers to ensure service quality and value for money.
• Oversee the recruitment and on-boarding of new staff, supporting the Finance & Operations Officer to coordinate the process, and supporting recruiting managers as needed.
• Ensure the maintenance of templates and processes to enable line managers to deliver the staff journey including inductions, staff surveys, annual reviews, and exits.
• Oversee the efficient usage of our database, systems and key platforms (including Salesforce, Xero, website), ensuring that the team is well resourced and has sufficient training to perform their roles.
• Oversee the management of IT hardware, software and systems, helping to keep Future Frontiers’ information secure and up to date, and acting as key liaison with third parties.
• Remain up-to-date on Charity SORP, legislation and sector best practice, supporting the CEO to ensure Future Frontiers remains compliant with HMRC, CC, ICO etc and is forward-looking.

People Management and Training

• Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing Finance & Operations team.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, ambition and excellence within the team.
• Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and support professional development.
• Support the building of financial literacy and understanding within the charity through training and supporting non-finance colleagues.
• Share your expertise and experience with colleagues across Future Frontiers to help foster a culture of lifelong learning and continuous professional development.

Wider contribution

• Contribute to department-, directorate- and organisation-wide projects and priorities through membership of project groups or taking on pieces of work in line with your skills, experience and development objectives

About you

• Experience, knowledge and qualifications
• Finance and accounting experience, ideally in a charity context (essential)
• Hold or be working towards a recognised accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA (essential) 
• Demonstrable, up-to-date knowledge of Charity SORP (FRS 102) and financial regulations (essential)
• Strong understanding of financial systems, reporting tools and Excel, ideally with experience of using Xero or an equivalent system (essential)
• Proven track record of delivering concise monthly management accounts, audits, and statutory returns on time (essential)
• Experience in managing and developing finance teams / readiness to step up to a manager role (essential)
• Experience of managing an organisation’s office and/or operations (desirable)

What You’ll Do

As Finance Officer – Accounts Payable, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of Clean Air Fund’s finance function. You’ll ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, staff expenses, and grant payments, while maintaining strong relationships across departments. You will:

• Process and verify invoices and expenses for accuracy and completeness.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

Start Network is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team to drive efforts to strengthen and innovate pooled fund mechanisms.

The Crisis Financing Advisor (Pooled Funds) will play a key role in advancing system change in crisis financing by providing technical assistance to the design, development, and strengthening of Start Network–led and supported pooled funds. The role will drive collaboration and learning across pooled fund initiatives within and beyond the Start Network, support member engagement, and contribute to innovative approaches that promote locally led, anticipatory, and effective crisis response. 

This role requires someone with in-depth understanding of the current humanitarian financing system and policy environment, direct experience of managing or advising pooled funds, as well as a strong track record in stakeholder management within membership organisations or networks. 

The British Pharmacological Society is recruiting for a Finance Officer. 

What does the role involve? 

The Finance officer is a new role in the Finance team at the British Pharmacological Society. The Finance Officer will work with the Financial Controller to ensure that all aspects of finance are operated effectively and efficiently. 

Who would suit this role? 

You will have experience working in a finance organisation and/or experience working for membership organisations. • To support the Director of Finance with the production of finance reports to senior managers on a monthly basis relating to income & expenditure
• To support with the processing of direct debits for membership donations
• To support with ad hoc tasks as the trust requires
• To support the preparation for the annual audit, e.g. stock take reconciliation, fixed asset records, Charity Commission and Companies House checks.
• To run the payroll reports and send to the Director of Finance for review and approval
• Undertake other duties as requested by line manager that contribute to Trust strategies.

As Head of Finance (12-month contract), you’ll take on a varied and pivotal role within the organisation. You’ll lead a dedicated finance team, helping to deliver outstanding services to residents, their families, staff, and governors. Your responsibilities will include leading the team, fostering a business partnering culture, overseeing accounting systems, ensuring compliance and financial controls, and delivering timely management information, analysis, and reporting. You’ll also deputise for the Director of Finance and attend Board meetings as required. A key part of the role will be mentoring and developing the team. The Role

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee all financial aspects of our UK and international operations. This is a critical role that ensures our financial stewardship is sound and our systems are effective.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.

About You

Key Responsibilities 

Financial Operations

• Oversee and lead core operational finance functions, including accounts payable, income processing, and cash (treasury) management
• Monitor emerging issues and support in the delivery of ongoing improvements to the organisation’s financial systems, controls, procedures, and financial reporting
• Oversee and lead the month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations and journal postings
• Provide support in the preparation of the monthly financial reports for the Executive Team, Board of Trustees and other key stakeholders
• Prepare the year end statutory financial statements and notes in line with Charity SORP requirements
• Support with gift aid and information required by the auditors and regulators (Charity Commission, Companies House, HMRC, etc) 

Team Leasership and Management 

• Lead and manage the operational Finance Team with the day-to-day activities, month end processes, and year-end close, to a high standard of quality
• Manage and undertake performance providing guidance, support, and mentorship and continuous feedback
• Oversee the recruitment, training, mentoring and development of new team members 

Stakeholder Engagement 

• Supporting the Directors, Head of Finance, and other budget holders with understanding their financial results
• Maintaining excellent relationships with our bankers, auditors, and third-party software providers
• Working closely with McDonald's finance teams to ensure that key financial processes and transactions between the teams are carried out effectively 

Finance System 

• Provide ongoing support with the implementation and user training of the new finance system (Xledger) and ensure that the finance system is continuously improved to meet the operational needs of the Charity
• Supporting the decision-making process to be more data-driven driving efficiency, not least by effectively embedding and maximising the capabilities of the new finance system
• Manage the data integrity, user access, financial workflows, and administration of the new finance system 

Skills & Knowledge

• Self-motivated, with the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy
• Highly organised and able to work under pressure to meet conflicting priorities
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to build strong relationships with stakeholders across the charity, acting as an effective collaborator
