Why we need you
We are seeking a Fundraising Officer to join our small and friendly Fundraising Team and play a key role in securing a vital proportion of the charity’s income that will help to make a meaningful difference in the lives of disadvantaged young people.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of Fundraising and work alongside another Fundraiser to research funding opportunities and develop our prospect pipeline. You will write funding enquiries and applications; write funding reports and case studies; and support the delivery of excellent supporter engagement.
Your primary focus will be on charitable Trusts and Foundations, but there will also be opportunities to get involved in our work to engage philanthropists and corporate businesses and their staff as volunteer fundraisers.

Your responsibilities
Prospect research and pipeline development
You will complete research to find charitable Trusts and Foundations that have the potential to support Future Frontiers for the first time. You will use this knowledge to support the development of our prospect pipeline for the coming years, including making recommendations for our funding ask and amount.
Enquiries and applications
You will write enquiries and applications for funding that are tailored to each recipient and make a convincing case for how their support will make a difference for disadvantaged young people. You will clearly outline the need for our work, the details of our programme and the outcomes for participating pupils, and our impact to-date.
Reports and case studies
You will write reports that are tailored to each recipient and demonstrate how their funding has made a different for disadvantaged young people. You will clearly outline activities, successes, challenges and pupils’ achievements, and demonstrate the impact of their funding for young people, including the gathering of case studies.
Supporter engagement
You will support the planning and delivery of high-quality, tailored communications and engagement opportunities for existing and potential supporters.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project coordination of Leap of Faith project
- Working with the Project Lead on a regular basis to provide all elements of project support, listed below.
- Event Management of both online events such as webinars and Zoom meetings, and physical events including VIP dinners, committee meetings and info sharing events
- Supporting individual fundraisers in their relationship management which could include copywriting, preparation of written communications, pulling information from RE, sharing resources or helping to manage the donor journey through updating tracking spreadsheets and RE records
- Responsibility for coordinating the Communications programme which will include email communications, mailings, and online events
- Meeting management, to include note taking and helping to drive forward actions
- Acting as the point of contact for Project Volunteers
- Conduct desk-based research to help qualify existing and new contacts
Coordination of the Major Donor programme
- Working with the Director of Fundraising to deliver the monthly Communications programme for the MD Pledge programme, which will include Pledge Renewals, monthly e-comms, event invites and the occasional postal mail outs
- This will also involve cross-departmental working
Direct Mail
- Working with the Director of Fundraising, to manage the administrative side of the monthly Direct Mail programme and Voice of Hope quarterly mailings, helping to ensure that appeals are delivered within the agreed time
- Gathering information required for direct mail appeal from internal stakeholders within the process when necessary
- Act as the main point of contact for the designer/printer once a strategy has been signed off
- Edit and proof copy, working with the Fundraising Management Team and coordinate sign off in a timely way
- Management of scheduling of appeal mailings, internal and with the mailing house
- Sign off print proofs from mailing house
Regional Fundraising
- Provide administrative support to regionally based team members, including the Director of Support in Scotland and Northern Ireland

This role is a great opportunity to harness your community fundraising experience to shape and expand a fundraising programme.
* You will be supporting an established group of fundraising guilds, as well as a network of committed young fundraising volunteers training to be doctors.
* You will help attract more individual and group supporters from in and around the medical community via medical conferences, workplace fundraising, social media activity, challenge events and more.
* This role also assists with the individual giving programme and developing the charity's social media channels to reach more supporters and beneficiaries.
Key aims of the Post:
* Identify target fundraising groups in and around the medical profession including medical students, doctors and employees from partner organisations.
* Test the effectiveness of different fundraiser acquisition channels, taking a creative approach to digital and social media to attract new supporters.
* Provide dedicated support for all individual fundraisers and fundraising groups, including regional groups who organise fundraising activities.
* Represent the charity at regional and national medical events, to raise awareness of the charity and help grow our community of supporters, fundraisers and volunteers.
* Work closely with the Volunteer Programme Manager to help inform our volunteers about local activities and encourage involvement where possible.
* Assist the Head of Fundraising & Communications with developing and stewarding the pipeline of individual givers and major donors.

About MicroLoan Foundation
MicroLoan Foundation supports the poorest women in remote rural areas of sub-Saharan Africa to work their own way out of poverty. By providing them with financial literacy, business training, on-going support and small affordable loans, we help these women to start small businesses for themselves.
With a regular income they are able to provide the basics for their families – food, shelter, education and medicine. We teach them to save as insurance against future crop failure, illness and other unexpected emergencies. In short, we give them hope, not handouts. Since 2002 MicroLoan Foundation has supported over 324,000 women and their families in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The role
MicroLoan Foundation is looking for a proactive, ambitious and highly organised Fundraising & Events Officer to join our fundraising team in London. The central function of the role is to manage and grow fundraising income from an innovative and exciting programme of events including in-person and digital events as well as UK and overseas challenges. The Fundraising & Events Officer will be engaging with donors, sponsors, fundraisers, and volunteers to maximise income and ensure all events run smoothly. You will manage suppliers and supporters to ensure that all events are delivered within an agreed budget and feed into the overall fundraising strategy.

Responsibilities
- To raise funds through events.
- To deliver and grow MicroLoan Foundation’s portfolio of events including digital and in-person fundraising events and UK and overseas challenges
- Project manage all aspects of delivering the events from recruiting participants, securing sponsors, venue sourcing, managing digital platforms, liaising with suppliers, financial reporting and the health and safety
- Proactively seek opportunities to innovate and further evolve event portfolio to grow fundraising income
- Effectively lead and manage external stakeholders and volunteer committees to deliver successful and compliant events
- To effectively steward donors, sponsors and event participants, developing relationships to maximise long term income opportunities
- Work closely with the fundraising team to create an integrated events strategy to drive acquisition of a wide range of donors from low level giving to major donors
- To coordinate multimedia event participant recruitment campaigns working closely with the Fundraising & Communications Manager
- To manage event budgets, ensuring events programme is delivered within the budget utilising cost effective resources, volunteer support, gifts in kind and sponsorship to control costs
- To analyse and report on event performance utilising the results to improve results. This includes evaluation of income, cost effectiveness, outreach, levels of potential and scalability
- To undertake any other tasks reasonably required
