About the role

Working across Global Witness’s campaigns within a larger data team, you will support our larger data investigations.  Using a range of tools and techniques, including data storytelling, analysis, bots and webscraping, you will highlight the role of corporations in worsening the environmental and climate crises.

About you

You will bring core data specialist skills, in particular in financial analysis, natural language processing, remote sensing and accessing and using open data.

We want to evolve, grow and develop and so want to hear the data analysis and presentation skills you could bring to our work.

About the Role

Through our range of programmes, we work to inspire and empower young people, whatever their background to succeed in work and life. A unique opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to manage the delivery of our EDI programmes and have a real impact on the participation of underrepresented groups in our programmes, as well as building on our established position within the skills sector.

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing, managing and evaluating senior stakeholder relationships with external networks. With a proven track record of consistently delivering projects and programmes with high-quality results, the successful candidate will have up to date ED&I knowledge and demonstrable experience of raising the profile of an organisation within this setting.  The candidate will be experienced in development of programmes and partnerships to suit delivery of strategic objectives, and be able to project manage internal colleagues to deliver against set KPIs.

The successful candidate will have a passion for working within a charity that focuses on developing young people from all backgrounds, and will have the experience, knowledge and understanding to drive forward EDI in external facing programmes.

Role purpose

The purpose of this role is to lead, develop and deliver WorldSkills UK’s external Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) programmes supported by stakeholder engagement strategies across our network of industry, education and government. The role will ensure that we engage external stakeholders to help deliver our ambition to be a leader, partner and ally in creating positive change for ED&I in the skills sector.

Key tasks and responsibilities

1. Deliver positive action activity for change:

• Support the development and delivery of WorldSkills UK’s external ED&I strategy. Ensure it is fit for purpose, has recognised long term goals and will deliver measurable change, reflecting organisational priorities around increased engagement with ethnic minority groups and females. Provide an overarching framework and help further develop strategic KPIs for our ED&I work, ensuring effective use of data, monitoring progress and performance.
• Work with the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager to develop action plans that will drive our continuous improvement:
  • Support our skills competition development programmes to increase the diversity of young people engaged
  • Support the development of role models to showcase the impact of our work and encourage diversity in key areas of industry, including future priority skill areas
  • Support the development of learning resources that aid engagement with underrepresented groups
  • Support teams to ensure ED&I matters are considered and addressed as key components of all strategies, plans and programmes.

2. Manage the ED&I Advisory Group:

• This is a unique opportunity to work with experienced and prominent senior individuals from across education and industry who are invested in driving the agenda for ED&I.
• Lead the administration and ongoing development of our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Group.
• Engage the Group to help support, advise and challenge WorldSkills UK on its actions to remove obstacles and barriers faced by young people from under-represented backgrounds in our programmes.
• Report regularly to the Group on progress against KPI’s and facilitate reports for the WorldSkills UK Board.

3. Project Manage the ED&I Heroes Awards

• The Awards is an established flagship event which provides a platform for WorldSkills UK to celebrate success with its partners, amplify best practice and inspire others to drive change across the skills systems in education and business.
• Project manage delivery of the annual Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Heroes Awards, supported by relevant internal teams
  • Establish the nominations process
  • Co-ordinate the judging panel
  • Organise the awards ceremony
  • Manage the support of the awards partners.

4. Manage strategic relationships

• Manage a portfolio of ED&I focused Strategic Partnerships with organisations from across the skills sector, facilitating their support and engagement with our EDI programmes.
• Grow our network of partners to widen our reach, help further drive work in this area and collectively impact on the sector.
• Advise and support the development of the CEO’s international activities on ED&I with WorldSkills International (WSI).

5. Raise the profile of WorldSkills UK’s ED&I work:

• Work with teams across the organisation to support our Mission to ignite a national and global movement to help more young people, regardless of their background, get the best possible start in work and life.
• Support the Senior Strategic Partnerships Manager and Marketing and Communications Team to showcase the impact of our programmes:
  • Help to externally profile and articulate the value and impact of our activities using the channels and tools available
  • Seek opportunities to advocate for our work through stakeholder engagement and networking
  • Support the Corporate Partnerships team to identify and secure commercial income related to our ED&I initiatives.
  • Work across the organisation to build on existing external relationships and develop new strategic partnerships that reinforce our position as a skills sector leader.

6. Internal ED&I Liaison:

• Whilst not responsible for WorldSkills UK’s internal ED&I activities and agenda it is anticipated that the post holder will spend up to 10% of their time supporting and working with the Corporate Affairs team on internal ED&I matters, with the remaining 90% spent on external work.
• It is not essential that the postholder has extensive experience in this area.

7. General

In addition to the key tasks and responsibilities set out above, all employees at this level are expected to:

• Produce requirement specifications in line with WorldSkills UK’s procurement strategies for all outsourced activity.
• Maintain WorldSkills UK’s established management policies for dealing with risks and issues for the Corporate Partnerships team and the wider organisation.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of WorldSkills UK’s strategic priorities and annual business objectives.

This role is office based (as above) but with flexible hybrid working. It is expected the postholder will attend the office at least once or twice a week.

Full time working hours are a minimum of 35 hours per week, normal working hours are 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday although we pride ourselves on having a flexible approach to our working practices and service delivery and are happy to discuss flexible working options, including part time, with suitable candidates.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Director of Global Mission, this focal coordinating role within our Global Mission Team (GMT) will ensure the effective functioning of the GMT by offering:

• Administrative support to the Director

• Team-wide Coordination

→ Extensive experience of working in statutory and/or trusts fundraising, including successfully applying for grants in excess of £50,00 to £100,000+

This role will provide strategic oversight and direction for Lepra’s institutional fundraising function to deliver on the restricted and unrestricted income targets. Line managing and leading the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser in the delivery of the trust fundraising target, and working with the programmes teams in the UK, India and Bangladesh to identify and develop applications to statutory sources and major trusts, leading on the development of detailed project proposals.

You will support the Head of Department in organisation wide strategic planning to ensure NAS outputs are evaluated using robust research methods that measure the impact of what we do.

You will manage researchers and be accountable for ensuring a consistent and quality assured approach to NAS evaluation research projects. We need someone who can ensure best practice research and evaluation methods are used in data collection, analysis and dissemination to co-produce impact reporting.  It will be essential that you support other NAS teams to use research and evaluation to measure the impact of their work and influence the future development of outputs and products.

Your focus will be to help to improve the quality of National Programmes and own services, and set standards for others by evaluating training, consultancy and accreditation products. You will directly manage a portfolio of evaluation research projects and coordinate the commissioning of individual projects to external evaluation partners, maintaining a schedule of work for next 3-5 years. 

This is a permanent full-time role working Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week.

Zero Carbon Guildford (ZCG) is looking for an experienced, organised and capable project development coordinator to help build and support our projects and enable our fantastic volunteer community to achieve more in their climate and environmental impact goals.

We are a Surrey-based charity offering practical solutions which help residents and businesses cut waste and emissions, remove confusion and misinformation on how to make a difference, and provide local solutions to a global crisis.

Overview & Purpose 

The role of the Project Development Coordinator is to assist existing ZCG projects in achieving maximum impact, and develop new projects where ideas have been put forward or gaps are identified. You will provide project management support, forming teams of self-sufficient volunteers, and provide support in monitoring and evaluation. You will be part of a team comprising paid staff and volunteers. As such, alongside project development your focus will be on supporting and nurturing personal development within the volunteer base whilst driving forward the Charity’s objectives.

An important part of the role is to help effectively communicate these objectives and the associated outcomes of ZCG projects to the public and stakeholders, in line with our engagement strategy. This will include assisting with the coordination of project-focused outreach events, the development of displays, as well as responding to email, social media and telephone enquiries, recognising that every conversation is an opportunity for further collaboration. 

Fundraising is key to the stability of the charity. The Project Development role will help to identify and develop fundraising activities which help projects to be somewhat self-sustaining. This will include identifying available funding pots and understanding project teams’ funding needs, as well as raising funds through events and community fundraising. 

We are advertising this role alongside an Operations Coordinator, and envisage each of these being ~4 days a week, which will include some evening and weekend hours. However, we are eager to recruit the best possible combination of people to the team, and will consider different working arrangements (either fewer or more hours), and individuals with experiences across the two roles.

This role is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.

Tasks 

• Support the successful operation of ZCG projects. This includes:

  • Liaising with project leads to ensure projects are fully resourced, including volunteer help, marketing and messaging, IT support, funding etc. 

  • Ensuring project leads are aware of and are complying with ZCG safeguarding policies and procedures.

  • Maintaining oversight of project activities and events to avoid duplication of effort, and communicate project activity to Operations and Trustee teams

  • Work with the Volunteer Recruitment Co-ordinator to ensure efficient advertising and fulfillment of volunteer roles, and encourage volunteers to actively participate in the running of projects. 

  • We envisage that this role would act as the Team Leader for the project-specific paid roles which exist for a small subset of our projects (currently three part time paid staff). 

• Support the initiation of new ZCG projects, including:

  • Exploring the feasibility, community need, and impact of new projects and assist with project proposals for Operations & Trustees, and planning and resourcing initial requirements for successful project implementation. .

  • Work with third party organisations to develop joint projects where appropriate

  • Identify and manage fundraising opportunities, such as events, membership structures, donation drives etc. ensuring all activities are within the environmental and social ethos of the charity.

• Ensuring project activity and results are communicated and reported effectively, including: 

  • Developing a key understanding of ZCG Engagement so that volunteers and activities are guided to create impactful messaging 

  • Assist projects with event planning and effective marketing 

  • Work with the Operations Team to help coordinate project information and messaging within ZERO

  • Support with reporting of project activity and results to the Operations teams and the Trustees. 

• Work with the other employees and volunteers as part of the Operations Team at ZCG to support smooth, and effective operation of the charity, and delivery of our charitable aims - this includes: 

  • Keeping up to date with correspondence on our online workspace, Slack, joining fortnightly Operations meetings (usually on a Tuesday evening) and contributing to Operations activities and decisions.

  • Engaging members of the public who contact the charity online, by phone and through email

  • Actively champion our equality and diversity policy to foster an inclusive environment ensuring that all projects are enjoyable and a welcoming places to volunteer.

  • Undertake training as required.

Person Specification:

As  Project Development Coordinator, you will be well-organised, with excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate a wide range of people. You will be passionate about environmental and climate topics, and about making a positive impact on the community. 

As such, you will:

• Have a commitment to climate and environmental issues. A deep scientific and social knowledge is not a prerequisite for the role, but a willingness and ability to learn more and develop this understanding is vital. 

• Work well within a team setting - experience leading people and working with volunteers would be highly relevant and desirable.

• Be well-organised, reliable and able to manage your own time effectively. Project management skills and experience is desirable for this role. 

• Have excellent communication skills, including to groups and individuals with different perspectives and backgrounds. In particular, this includes being able to lead, engage and motivate teams of people, and provide direction and a framework for them to excel. People management / team leadership experience is desirable for this role.

• Be resilient to changing situations and requirements; good at problem solving and thinking on your feet. 

• Have basic IT skills, for example including basic office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and experience with / ability to learn Slack, Google Mail, Google Drive / G-suite and Canva (note that we can help you learn these specific applications as long as you are generally IT-literate). Familiarity with digital design tools, such as Canva, will be desirable for this role. 

Practicalities:

• This role reports to the Operations Lead of Zero Carbon Guildford

• We envisage this role to be 4 days a week, including 1 evening meeting a fortnight, and may include some weekend working. However, we are keen to see the best candidates available, and so if you have differing requirements of hours, please don't hesitate to get in touch. 

• Based in the ZERO building in the centre of Guildford with some local travel for which expenses can be claimed.

The Programme Manager is an exciting and influential role at RCPCH Global, a specialist unit within the College, in which you will lead the management of our maternal and child health programmes in Nepal and Myanmar, with some support for our work in Rwanda. Based in our London office, you will oversee the implementation of the programmes, including the delivery of high-quality programme activities.

As Programme Manager, you will monitor and manage all financial and budgetary aspects of the programme in compliance with donor requirements and take the lead on all programme reporting to donors, maintaining and ensuring high-quality programme monitoring and evaluation processes are adhered to.

Crucially, you will be responsible for liaising with local programme counterparts and stakeholders in the field, which may include regular field visits. You will also take the lead on the recruitment and management of long-term programme volunteer clinicians, as well as short-term advisory consultants, for the programme.

In addition to wider donor liaison, you will help develop new programme grant agreements with a preliminary focus on UNICEF and the James Percy Foundation, as well as promoting RCPCH Global activities to external stakeholders.

Suitably qualified in international development, public health, international and global health, health systems strengthening and child health, or with equivalent work experience, you should have excellent project/programme management skills and have a background in a relevant international/development management or implementation role. 

With demonstrable experience of designing, initiating and leading complex programme development processes, including with senior government counterparts, local partner organisations and international and multilateral donor agencies, you should have a significant understanding of budget management and financial reporting, including to bilateral and multilateral donors.

Previous experience of successfully managing large complex programmes, including supporting field-programme teams both remotely and in the field, within the international development and/or health sectors is essential, whilst experience of working in developing countries would be desirable.

Although based in London, this role may include some travel to Nepal. Additional travel to Rwanda as part of support role may be required. 

RCPCH Global is a unit within RCPCH which designs and manages a range of international projects and programmes to improve neonatal, child and adolescent health, primarily in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Our programmes use teams of skilled clinicians and other health professionals to work with counterparts in targeted low-income countries to train and mentor doctors, nurses and other health workers, as a means of helping to build the capacity and quality of the health systems in those countries. 

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health sets and maintains standards for the education and training of all doctors working in paediatrics and child health in the UK. We advocate on child health issues at home and internationally. Additionally, through a variety of activities, the College influences the quality of medical practice for children in hospital and in the community.
