Who we are
Universify exists to create a fairer, more equal society where every young person can fulfil their potential regardless of their background. We equip young people from low socio-economic and underrepresented backgrounds with the skills, knowledge, and belief to fulfil their potential through education.
We work primarily with Year 10-11 students (aged 14-16) to increase their aspirations, improve GCSE attainment and to gain a greater understanding of post-18 pathways, particularly university, to make a more informed decision about their future. To achieve our aims, we currently run two year-long programmes. Our main Oxford programme includes a week-long residential in summer of Year 10, a 3-day GCSE-focused revision residential in the spring of Year 11, and regular online coaching. Our Step Ahead Bristol programme consists of a calendar of day visits in Bristol and Oxford in Year 10 and 11 and regular online coaching.
The role
As the Programme Coordinator, you will work within the programme team to co-ordinate and deliver our national programme and communities programme for over 100 participants. You will also support the planning and oversight of our activities for partner-led programmes.
Main Duties
- Preparing and delivering our programmes
- Organise programme logistics- including managing room bookings, kit preparation, individuals’ requirements
- Co-ordinate recruitment and onboarding for students, tutors and volunteers
- Manage general enquiries and administration alongside the programme team
- Coordinating the coaching programme and managing enquiries
- Support the delivery of external partner programmes including outreach days, and alumni programme
- Provide safeguarding support as part of the charity's safeguarding team and providing on-course safeguarding support to students and volunteers
- Co-lead the student council alongside the Volunteer Officer to promote students’ views in the charity’s decision-making
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Required skills and characteristics
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with different audiences
- Proactive, adaptable and self-motivated; a quick learner who enjoys working in a small team
- Ability to create and maintain relationships with a range of external stakeholders, especially schools and young people
- Ability to organise large amounts of information and oversee a range of small-medium sized tasks concurrently
- Ability to manage a large project including communicating progress and plans to a team, prioritising tasks, and delegating where necessary
- Some data analysis skills and an understanding of charity impact reporting, or a willingness to learn about impact reporting
- Works well in a small team and is interested in working in a small organisation
Required experience
We are looking for candidates with the following experience:
- Experience of working with young people, particularly vulnerable groups, including delivering programmes
- Experience working flexibly across multiple projects
- Experience in managing a large project independently; ready to take the initiative to deliver a project to a high standard
- Experience and confidence in using MS Office and Excel
- Secure knowledge and experience of child safeguarding policy and practice. Level 3 Safeguarding Lead qualification or a willingness to obtain this as part of the role
Desirable experience and skills
Ideally, candidates would have experience in a few of the following areas:
- Experience managing residential programmes or large-scale events as part of a team. Experience of designing educational programmes.
- Experience of working with schools and universities
- Coaching expertise and ability to train coaches
- Experience of using the basic functions of a CRM and a willingness to build this knowledge
- Some data analysis skills

You’ll be working with the local church to manage the delivery of Resurgo's award-winning Spear Programme. In this role, you’ll be responsible for:
The Lead Coach is primarily responsible for overseeing the training room and group sessions with young people. You will help shape the training environment and will confidently adapt and deliver materials and sessions to work within the group’s development towards work readiness.
Delivery of Spear Programme - Group and 1:1 coaching [60%]
- Preparing and coaching Spear Foundation sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme.
- Building relationships with young people on the programme and managing culture, and attitudes in the training room.
- Adapting the Spear coaching material according to the needs of the Trainees and managing behaviour effectively.
Delivery of Spear Career [20%]
- Delivering weekly Spear Career sessions (including running workshops with past Trainees), maintaining records and reporting on statistics, and creatively developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees.
Training the Asssistant Coach [10%]
- Contributing towards the training and developing of the Assistant Coach by modelling excellent coaching and giving regular feedback.
Trainee recruitment [10%]
- Developing relationships with Job Centres and local referral agencies to ensure that the maximum number of Spear Trainees are enrolled on each programme. This involves liaising with referral agencies, active face-to-face recruitment and monitoring recruitment statistics.

- Continually engaging in professional development, including being part of Resurgo’s wider coaching programmes and supporting the Church Partnerships Managers with overall team training and development.

This academic year, we will be expanding our work significantly, supporting close to 3,000 young people from Cornwall to Northumberland. The majority of this growth will be through a one-year project we are running in partnership with the Education Endowment Foundation.
This project is a randomised control trial (RCT) of our Peer to Peer coaching programme, where we will be working with an additional 50 new secondary schools. We have seen consistently strong impact from this programme on the attainment, social & emotional development, and school attendance of disadvantaged young people for many years. This EEF supported RCT now gives us the opportunity to test this impact at significant scale, specifically on the maths attainment, maths self-efficacy, and school attendance of disadvantaged Y10 and Y7 pupils.
To support with the delivery of this work, we are looking to recruit a part time (2-3 days per week) Programme Manager based in Cornwall, to start as soon as possible, and deliver programmes through to July 2026. We welcome applications from candidates seeking either a fixed-term or freelance contract, depending on individual circumstances.
You will have end-to-end ownership of your own allocation of programmes, which may involve a mixture of Peer to Peer, Core and LifeCycle programmes. Whilst delivering our programmes you will be required to build excellent relationships with our school and university partners, support with training and developing our undergraduate volunteers, use our evaluation frameworks to assess impact, and lead on conversations related to retention and expansion.
Candidates will be required to travel to secondary schools across Cornwall, with occasional trips to Plymouth and other locations in the South West. Access to a car will be required. At times team members may be asked to travel to a location outside of their region, but this will be rare and sufficient notice and TOIL will be given where appropriate.
The majority of direct delivery in schools will begin in November.
Whilst there is the potential for a permanent role beyond the length of this project, this will be based on our levels of school retention and business development, and so cannot be guaranteed.

Role details Managing and delivering programmes
● Coordinate and run multiple in-school and online programmes, typically requiring travel to schools most working days.
● Set timelines for programme start and finish dates.

Person Specification Essential characteristics and experience
Below are the key attributes candidates will need to be confident of demonstrating.
● Passion for social mobility. We have big aims and are looking for those who share our desire to make education fairer in the UK.
● Ability to think on your feet. Delivering programmes with young people can be unpredictable, so you will need to be comfortable working reactively to solve challenges at short notice.
● Programme or project management experience. In particular the ability to be organised, plan ahead, and manage competing priorities and timelines.
● Experience with young people. Comfortable running a session or delivering a workshop with a group of young people from age 8-18. (Please note, the vast majority of our programmes are at secondary phase).
● Relationship building and facilitating. This is a public-facing role so you will be involved in communicating and delivering workshops to groups as well as communicating our mission to a wide range of stakeholders (business leaders, senior members of MATs, universities etc.).
● Excellent communication skills, particularly public speaking. You should be comfortable talking to groups of 5 or 500.
● Ability to make quick and clear decisions.

● Understanding of the specific barriers to social mobility, both nationally and regionally, and the context for the young people we work with.

Role Overview
Provide an adaptable programme and volunteer support across referral intake, onboarding, delivery, safeguarding, and impact. The postholder will be placed on a primary track that suits their strengths and the organisation’s needs, while contributing to core team tasks.

The main duties of the role

Purpose of the role
You will support the Head of SpringForward in managing a growing independent school- local authority partnership mentoring programme. This programme promotes partnerships between independent schools and Local Authorities that ensure that children in care can access opportunities for tailored mentoring by independent schoolteachers to help address some of their achievement and attainment gaps, and be supported to secure offers for a university or apprenticeship route on leaving school.
Key responsibilities
You will work with the Head of SpringForward to support successful management of day-to-day operations of the programme; including but not limited to:

onboarding and engagement of volunteer independent schoolteacher mentors;

liaising with school coordinators and overseeing overall school participation;

liaising with Local Authority partners and updating on pupil engagement;

You will work with Head of SpringForward to review, implement and refine impact measurement, collecting survey data and feedback, review the outcomes and supporting continuous improvement of programme design and to communicate with new schools and LAs the programme’s benefits.
You will be held accountable for upholding the highest levels of safeguarding practice in implementation of the mentoring programme, including updating and maintaining safeguarding records for volunteers.
You will be responsible for writing reports on progress and outcomes for the charity’s senior leadership, trustees and the wider partnership community.

Job Purpose:
This role calls for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and organised person who shares our values. The role will play a vital part in supporting the day-to-day activity of the Community Fundraising Team in undertaking a wide variety of fundraising activities.
Main Duties and Tasks:
Administration
- Support the Community Fundraising Team with the administration of bespoke, third party and donor led events. Including (but not limited to) sending packs and resources out, communication of event information and appropriate thanking.
- Manage the Community Fundraising email inbox.
- Diarise Community Fundraising team meetings, take appropriate minutes and distribute actions.
- Manage the Community Fundraising shared drive and filing system.
- Work with the Community Fundraiser to identify potential Young Ambassadors and create Ambassador Packs.
- Manage the stock control of Community Event Resources.

Stewardship
- Be the first point of contact for on-line giving donors and monitor the online giving platforms including JustGiving and ensure that each donor has relevant communications.

Reporting
- Produce regular financial and fundraising reports on various Community Fundraising Income streams using the Charity CRM (Salesforce).
- Monitor Community Fundraising income and check it’s appropriately coded on Salesforce.
Communication
- Ensure that relevant members of the Community Fundraising Team are aware of on-line fundraising activity.
- Work alongside the Operations and Finance Teams to monitor income.
Other Duties
- Attendance at community fundraising events.
