The Role

This newly combined role brings Social Action and Interfaith activity together under one postholder. The Programme Manager will be responsible for developing these areas strategically, growing participation and impact, building relationships and partnerships, and identifying new opportunities for meaningful engagement and community contribution.

The purpose of the role:

• To implement an integrated strategy for the delivery of WLS's Social Action and Interfaith activities, and the associated role of volunteers.

• To facilitate the smooth running and ongoing development of current WLS projects, alongside the introduction and implementation of new projects in these areas.

• To work with other members of staff, clergy and lay leadership to consolidate, and expand WLS's Social Action and Interfaith provision.

• To recruit, train, empower and retain an increasing number of community members as volunteers.

• To assist with funding applications and expense control relating to projects, working closely with the fundraising and finance teams.

Summary of Tasks

1. Social Action Projects

– Maintain and enhance existing social action projects, including the ongoing recruitment of participants and ensuring their financial viability, including cost control.

– Support the ongoing development of the WLS flagship Drop-in Programmes - for families seeking asylum and the Rainbow Drop-in for an LGBTQ population

– Develop a range of self-sustaining, hands-on social action projects for each age group at WLS, especially youth, students and young adults.

– Prepare timely reports, fundraising administration and formal feedback, as needed.

 

2. Interfaith Projects

– Execute and enhance our newly drafted Interfaith strategy, which focuses on education and awareness, grassroots initiatives, celebratory events and representation in the broader community;

– Attract and retain volunteers on an ad hoc basis for the interfaith initiatives;

– Work collaboratively with the community team and with the trustee responsible for Interfaith.

3. Experimental & Cross-Cutting Projects

– Identify, develop and lead selected new initiatives that align with WLS's strategic priorities and community needs

General Responsibilities

· Develop, maintain and manage an annual programme plan for Social Action and Interfaith activity, ensuring that projects and initiatives are aligned with WLS’s strategic priorities and community needs.

· Establish appropriate measures and processes to assess the reach, participation, outcomes and wider impact of programmes, regularly reviewing performance and using insight, feedback and data to improve existing activity and inform the development of new initiatives.

· Identify opportunities to increase the reach, relevance and impact of Social Action and Interfaith programmes, ensuring that activity continues to respond to the needs and interests of the WLS community and the wider community.

· Develop and manage a strong volunteer programme, including recruitment, induction, training, support, recognition and retention, and create meaningful opportunities for members to contribute their time, skills and experience.

· Manage relevant programme budgets including planning expenditure, monitoring income and expenditure, and ensuring that activity is delivered within agreed budgets.

· Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, community organisations, faith communities, charities and other external partners, identifying opportunities for collaboration and developing new initiatives where appropriate.

· Collaborate with the engagement team to develop and implement appropriate communications and engagement plans to promote programmes and encourage participation.

· Attend and contribute actively to regular staff meetings, Board and committee meetings, and relevant project and working groups, providing updates on programme development, progress and impact as required.

· Contribute to the wider life of WLS, including festival celebrations and other community activities, as appropriate to the role.

· Support the development and implementation of WLS’s vision, policies and procedures, particularly in relation to Social Action and Interfaith activity involving adults, young people and children.

· Maintain awareness of, and ensure compliance with, all relevant regulations and WLS policies relating to safeguarding, particularly when working with children and vulnerable adults.

· Contribute to the development of funding and income-generation opportunities, including grants, sponsorships and partnerships, where relevant to the programme.

Essential

• Proven experience of managing projects and/or volunteers, with a track record of managing a varied workload and conflicting priorities to deadline.

• Experience of, or a strong interest in, social action and/or interfaith work.

• Excellent organisational skills and strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office 365.

• Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to prepare clear reports and communications.

Freedom from Torture has an exciting opportunity for a Research Programme Manager to join our team and play a central role in delivering an innovative international mental health research programme funded by a major UK research funder. The programme will explore whether artificial intelligence can safely and effectively support survivors of torture with managing distressing memories. Survivor co-design is central to the programme, ensuring that people with lived experience across diverse cultures, languages and backgrounds meaningfully shape innovation in mental health.

Freedom from Torture is an established charity that has been supporting survivors of torture for over 35 years and has a dedicated donor base. We are committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based interventions for people who have survived torture. We provide therapies to improve physical and mental health, medically document torture, and offer legal and welfare support. Our clinical model has been co-designed with survivors of torture and includes a range of interventions, including trauma-focused therapy, psychotherapy, family and couple systemic psychotherapy, group work, pain management and health assessment.

About the role

This is a senior research programme management role supporting the delivery of a major externally funded health research programme involving multiple organisations, international collaborators and diverse stakeholder groups. The programme includes research involving human participants and brings together expertise from universities, charities, clinicians, researchers, technologists and people with lived experience.

A defining feature of this programme is its commitment to survivor leadership and co-design. Survivors of torture will play an active role in shaping, informing and governing the research throughout its lifecycle. Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to play a meaningful role in helping Embrace the Middle East bring hope, dignity and lasting change to some of the region's most vulnerable communities. Working alongside local Christian partners and churches in the Middle East, you will help to ensure that life-changing programmes are delivered effectively, relationships are nurtured and vital support reaches those who need it most.

As a key member of the Programmes, Partnerships and Advocacy team, you will coordinate programme activities, support grant and partnership management processes, maintain high-quality information and contribute to projects that strengthen our impact across the Middle East. To successfully lead the Grants team and raise voluntary income from a range of Grantmakers including Trusts, Foundations and local Government grant funders contributing to an overall team target of £1-million +. Working effectively with a grants team of three, and across the organisation, you will meet team annual targets of circa £675,000 through finding new opportunities, building excellent relationships with funders and managing the team effectively. This will lead to more young people reached by Eikon’s services.

Responsibilities

Income generation

· Lead responsibility for raising current annual team target of £675,000 for restricted and unrestricted income

· Work to agreed metrices including an annual target of £220,000 - £250,000/year with a pipeline including statutory, national & regional grant funders (some being invite only).

· Develop and lead networking plan (internal/external) to secure long-term grant and statutory funding opportunities to help increase financial income year on year.

Account Management

· Lead a stewardship framework, ensuring excellent account management of funders across the team (including own portfolio)

· Lead plans for the year, thinking creatively to develop new engagement opportunities such as panels, breakfast meetings and other events

· Collaborate with other leads and managers in the team to maximise opportunities through relationships, for example Major Donors, Corporate partnerships and Individual Givers.

Management

· Line management two staff members (Senior Grants Fundraiser and Trust Fundraiser), creating a positive and supportive working culture supporting them to meet their targets

· Lead on managing pipeline information on Donorfy, being able to pull reports for information and analysis including:

o Provision of data and narrative for monthly team meetings

o Contribution to Board reporting with narrative and pipeline information

o Analysis for annual planning sessions

Quality and standards

· Ensure all staff and volunteers understand and deliver within Eikon’s safeguarding policies and practices when taking part in fundraising activities.

The Worker Support Centre (WSC) is a Scottish charity working in partnership with migrant workers at risk of exploitation across Scotland to secure their rights, challenge labour exploitation, build collective power, and drive lasting law and policy change. We are an evidence-led, worker-driven organisation with strong governance and a growing track record of policy impact. Home based role with occasional attendance at our office at WASPS Creative Exchange, Stormont Street, Perth, and travel for team, funder, partnership and worker meetings.

About the role

This is a new senior role at WSC, with responsibility for developing and delivering our fundraising strategy and building the systems, relationships and income streams needed to support the organisation's next stage of growth.

The Fundraising Manager will take day-to-day ownership of WSC's fundraising function and pipeline, leading opportunities from prospect research and assessment through application, award, grant management and renewal. They will combine hands-on fundraising delivery with strategic leadership, developing income from trusts and foundations, statutory funders, corporate partners, major donors and other appropriate sources.

You will work closely with the Executive Director who retains strategic oversight and final approval of fundraising applications and commitments, while taking day-to-day ownership of fundraising activity and the pipeline.  

This is an opportunity for an experienced fundraiser to shape WSC’s fundraising at an exciting stage of organisational development, whilst contributing directly to our work to challenge labour exploitation and promote decent work.

The postholder will be responsible for delivering an agreed annual fundraising target and for building a balanced pipeline of prospective trusts, foundations, statutory funders, corporate partners and individual supporters. In the first 12–18 months, a key priority will be to strengthen WSC's fundraising infrastructure, increase the diversity and predictability of income, and develop a sustainable pipeline aligned with our strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising strategy and leadership

● Develop, implement and review of a Fundraising Strategy and delivery plan for WSC to achieve required income targets across fundraising disciplines together with the Executive Director aligned with our overall Strategic Plan.

● Set and monitor fundraising objectives, income targets and KPIs reporting quarterly to the Executive Director and Board on progress, opportunities and risks.

● Develop and maintain WSC’s prospect map identifying priority funders and prospects and setting clear cultivation strategies and next steps for each.

● Develop WSC’s major donor pipeline including compelling cases for support, and cultivation plan for priority prospects.

● Advise the Executive Director and Board on fundraising opportunities, income diversification, funding risk and the implications of changes in the funding environment.

● Lead on management and renewal of WSC’s existing grants portfolio ensuring income is sustained and relationships are developed strategically.

● Assess prospective funding opportunities and make recommendations for the Executive Director on whether to pursue them, considering strategic fit, likelihood of success, resource requirements and financial viability.

● Develop, maintain and improve WSC's fundraising systems, processes and tools, ensuring that information is accurate, accessible and supports good decision-making.

● Maintain a strong understanding of WSC’s current programmes, impact and future strategic priorities and translate these into compelling fundraising opportunities and cases for support.

Pipeline and income generation

● Research, identify, cultivate and secure funding from trusts, foundations, statutory sources, corporate partners, major donors and individual donors and other appropriate income sources.

● Own and manage WSC's fundraising pipeline, ensuring opportunities are appropriately researched, assessed, prioritised, progressed and recorded from prospect through to renewal.

● Lead the end-to-end development of funding applications, coordinating input from programme, finance, communications and other colleagues and ensuring applications are compelling, accurate and submitted on time.

● Maintain accurate pipeline data and income forecasts, using these to identify funding gaps, opportunities and risks and to inform organisational planning.

● Monitor the wider fundraising environment and identify emerging opportunities, risks and trends relevant to WSC.

• · Ensure appropriate due diligence is undertaken and agreements are in place before accepting significant gifts or grants, in line with WSC's policies and procedures.
• · Ensure donations and grants are processed, recorded and acknowledged promptly and accurately, working with the Finance Officer and other colleagues as appropriate.

Grant Management and Renewal

· Maintain an overview of WSC's active grants, including reporting requirements, key commitments, deadlines and renewal opportunities.

· Ensure funder reporting deadlines and grant commitments are identified and managed proactively working with relevant colleagues across WSC.

· Lead the preparation and submission of narrative funder reports, working with the programme and finance colleagues to evidence progress, outcomes and impact.

· Work closely with the Finance Officer to ensure financial reports and expenditure information provided to funders are accurate, timely and consistent with grant agreements.

· Develop renewal plans 4-6 months ahead of grant end dates or earlier where required by the funder and lead the renewal process in collaboration with the Executive Director and Finance Officer.

· Maintain and develop funder relationships throughout the grant cycle using reporting, meetings and other opportunities to demonstrate impact and strengthen relationships.

Fundraising Systems, Finance and Reporting

● Maintain accurate and up-to-date fundraising records, identifying an appropriate CRM and ensuring key information, relationships, deadlines and actions are documented.

● Work closely with the Finance Officer to develop realistic application budgets, monitor grant income and expenditure and ensure financial information provided to funders is accurate and consistent.

● Ensure appropriate fundraising records and documentation are maintained including applications, grant agreements, reports, correspondence and due diligence.

Line management, collaboration and worker-led fundraising

· Recruit, line manage and support future fundraising staff as the charity grows, providing clear direction, regular supervision, constructive feedback and opportunities for professional development.

· Develop effective systems and processes that enable the fundraising team to work consistently, collaboratively and efficiently as the function grows.

· Manage freelancers, agencies or consultants as required.

· Participate in WSC's Senior Management Team, contributing to organisational planning, strategic decision-making and alignment across WSC's work

· Collaborate with policy, casework, operations, communications and other colleagues to align fundraising with organisational priorities.

· Champion WSC's worker-driven governance model and ensure that workers have meaningful influence over fundraising activity and how their experiences are represented.

· Co-produce fundraising outputs with workers, prioritising their voices, interests, dignity and agency.

· Actively contribute to a values-led, inclusive and collaborative working culture.

· Ensure fundraising knowledge, relationships, decisions and organisational learning are appropriately documented and shared, supporting organisational resilience and continuity.

Communications and narrative

● Work closely with the Communications and Narratives Lead to develop compelling, audience-specific cases for support, donor communications and fundraising materials.

● Support the development and use of evidence, impact data and worker-centred narratives in fundraising.

● Ensure that fundraising and communications involving workers are ethical, accessible and based on meaningful consent, agency and participation.

Governance, compliance & organisational reporting

● Ensure fundraising activity complies with relevant charity law and regulation, fundraising standards, data protection requirements and WSC policies.

● Ensure appropriate due diligence, gift acceptance and risk assessment processes are followed for significant gifts, grants and partnerships.

● Provide regular fundraising reports and analysis to the Executive Director and Board, highlighting progress against targets, pipeline value, income risks and opportunities.

● Support the Executive Director and Board with information required for organisational planning, financial forecasting and reporting to funders and other stakeholders.
