Job description

Victim Support is looking for a Media and External Communications Lead based in London.

Victim Support (VS) is an independent charity providing a range of specialist services to people who have been affected by crime across England and Wales. We work towards a world where there are fewer victims but who have stronger rights, better support and a real influence in the Criminal Justice System. Everyone at VS is driven by our Vision Ambitions and Values to play their part in making a difference for those who experience crime and traumatic events. Our Media & External Communications Lead plays a critical role in ensuring that the charity is able to represent the voice of victims in the local and national media, and in raising the profile of our services.

The main duties of this role are to:

    • Lead on delivering the organisation's external communications plan
    • Run the Victim Support press office
    • Maintain VS's profile nationally through reactive media relations
    • Help enhance and protect VS's reputation using effective communication channels
    • Increase the profile of VS services, including Supportline, and drive victims and survivors to access our support through PR and media coverage
    • Support the senior team to raise VS's profile in prioritised areas, including to help acquire/retain contracts
      To be successful you will have experience of delivering media relations across print, broadcast and digital for a complex organisation. You will have strong influencing skills, be an excellent communicator and have a proven ability to plan and deliver media strategies and activities.
