Baby Lifeline is a highly respected national charity whose mission is to ensure the healthiest and best outcomes possible from pregnancy and birth.

Founded over 40 years ago by Judy Ledger following the personal tragedy of losing three premature babies, we have since purchased many million pounds’ worth of equipment for maternity and neonatal units, produced nationally recognised reports and research projects, staged highly successful annual UK maternity safety conferences, and provided evidence-based, multi-professional training to reduce avoidable harm and death in maternity. Head of Communications & Marketing

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Baby Lifeline as Head of Communications and Marketing. You will play a critical role in supporting Baby Lifeline to deliver its important mission, leading the development and delivery of our strategic communications and marketing plan. Together, these will grow awareness of and engagement with our brand and increase donations.

Head of Communications and Marketing Responsibilities:

· Providing strategic communications and marketing counsel to the Chief Executive

· Devising results-driven marketing campaigns to grow our audience and drive charity donations and fundraising

· Devising creative media engagement strategies, leading on proactive and reactive media relations including press releases, statements, interviews, and enquiries

· Building relationships with relevant professionals and experts within healthcare, to help drive sign-ups to events and training

· Managing and influencing relationships with key external influencers, such as journalists, producers, and celebrity VIP ambassadors

· Overseeing our website and social media channels, developing creative content that drives growth, reach and engagement across channels 

· Line managing a Digital Marketing Manager on the effective day to day delivery of website and social media activity; working with external agencies where appropriate

· Understanding what metrics to use as a measure of success, based on key objectives – and to report on these confidently

· Researching and evaluating the latest trends within the charity sector and using these to advance Baby Lifeline communications and marketing activity

· Advising and working with Baby Lifeline Training Ltd on relevant projects

As Head of Communications & Marketing, you will have:

· Experience in a similar communications or marketing role

· A keen eye for marketing design – experience creating social media assets is preferable

· Self-motivation and passion about the opportunities that can come from marketing, communications, and social media

· Strong written communication skills and copywriting capabilities

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· A degree in marketing and/or PR or equivalent is desirable

ABOUT THE ROLE

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Compliance, Risk and Audit to join the wider Compliance, Audit and Risk team at SIG! You will have the overall responsibility of keeping participants, residents, and staff safe. The team manages the development, monitoring, and reporting of several areas including but not limited to accidents, incidents, and near misses (AINMs), safety reviews, safeguarding, whistleblowing, complaints, policy and procedure, health and safety, internal audit, business continuity planning and data protection.

As The Head of Compliance, Risk and Audit, you are the lynchpin of the wider team, linking strategic vision with solid and accountable implementation. You will be responsible for developing the team in the broad space of compliance as well as in their own areas of specialism, ensuring that a transparent and accountable compliance framework is implemented and embedded in line with regulatory and legislative change.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. At least 2 days per week in central office (Islington) and our services which are in and around London, Brighton & Hove, Kent, Havering, Bedford, Luton, Nottingham, and Liverpool.
The additional 3 days can be worked from home. You may at times be required to visit a service more than 2 times within a week. 

Our Central Office is based a 10 minute walk from Highbury and Islington station, Angel station is a 15 minute walk away

ABOUT YOU

We're looking for someone who is methodical and detail oriented in their approach, who is a compassionate leader, able to set an example of our values (Ambition, Empowerment, Transparency, Inclusivity). You will have an in-depth and broad knowledge of all areas of compliance, with a background in health, social care or housing. You will be required to have excellent report writing skills, with the ability to coach and support others, able to influence a process led culture in respect to your area, and a keen interest in continuous improvement of services and a positive safety culture!

OVERVIEW OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Line Management and leadership throughout employee lifecycle this includes; Recruitment, Onboarding, Inductions, training, support and supervision, relations, wellbeing support, and other areas.
• Formalise Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) to monitor objectives.
• Provide both line management and professional consulting using best available forums and mechanisms, including meetings, support effective teamwork and communication. Facilitate a culture where constructive challenge is welcomed, and conflict is managed supportively in line with relevant policies and procedures.
• Deputise for the Director as required.

Safeguarding, Audit, and Compliance

• Oversee the compliance audits across departments and services, providing support, and follow up with operational teams on a regular basis.
• Oversee the Safeguarding infrastructure, deputising for the designated safeguarding lead (DSL) as necessary. Oversee complaints and other processes and develop these to ensure they are safe, fair, equitable, and fit for purpose.
• Support services with commissioner led quality assurance framework (QAF) inspections and those registered with the CQC to maintain their portfolios and ensure they are ready for inspection at any time to retain their registrations.
• Promote and support a positive whistleblowing culture, assist Champions, People and Culture, managers and the audit and compliance team on concerns raised and ensuring the whistleblower is protected.

Reporting and Analysis

• Attend and develop AINMs review meetings for maximum impact in terms of positive safety culture. Ensure the lessons learned from AINMs reviews, safety reviews, and safeguarding concerns are shared and feedback loops are closed.
• Review the collation and analysis of AINMs and Safeguarding alerts, developing the Audit and Compliance team, as well as other operational teams in reflection and root cause analysis

Data Protection

• Monitor the use of external data protection and compliance partners to ensure we maintain ICO requirements and maintain our Data Security Protection Toolkit Certification.
• Monitor and ensure integrity in document control, policy, and procedures as they are developed, reviewed, and published.
• Understand and support an Information Security infrastructure alongside additional teams in the organisation and support Managers and teams with training and challenges where necessary.

Other responsibilities than those described above may be required to be undertaken from time to time and will be expected to be performed to as long as it is within the capability and level of the position. Please refer to JDPS attached for more info

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience in complaints and incident handling, safeguarding, data protection, and audits
• Proven experience in governance systems and structures which can include auditing, risk management, investigations, complaint handling, policy, procedure, and report writing
• Experience and/or ability to coach, develop, and manage direct reports
• Background in health, social care, criminal justice, and/or supported housing systems
• IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, and ability to confidently use and utilise Microsoft programs
• Adequate understanding of the importance and mechanics of document control and writing policy and procedure
• Working knowledge of health and safety processes and procedures
• Ability to write reports in a clear, readable format

About Schoolreaders:

Schoolreaders was launched ten years ago in Bedfordshire with the aim of recruiting volunteers to provide one-to-one reading support for children in primary schools across the country. Over 22,000 children in over 1000 schools are receiving weekly reading sessions from a Schoolreaders volunteer. One in four children are leaving primary school unable to read to the expected Government standard. The Head of Scotland and Northern Ireland is responsible for leading our vision to end the need for food banks in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Scotland currently leads the way in having a rights-based, progressive agenda to ending the need for food banks, but there is much to do to ensure political intentions become a reality. This role directs Trussell Trust’s policy and public affairs work in Scotland and Northern Ireland, leads our Scotland and Northern Ireland department as they support our network of food banks and works strategically with key partners to tackle the underlying reasons why people need to come to food banks.

Role responsibilities 

• Lead the delivery of the Trussell Trust strategy for ending the need for food banks in Scotland and Northern Ireland, working to embed the Changing Communities, Changing Minds and Changing Policy programmes across the network, including through providing strategic support for the effective delivery of the Pathfinder, FI and organising programmes in Scotland and Northern Ireland. 

• Work with key partners to direct Trussell Trust’s policy and public affairs and work with the Scottish government and local authorities across Scotland.

Objectives

The role

The Head of Practice leads on best practice and practice development across Business Disability Forum. They will also lead the delivery of the BDF internal upskilling programme to ensure that all Member and Partner facing teams are at the forefront of best practice in delivering high quality advice and support.

Responsibilities include:

Leadership, Strategy and Governance

• To be an active member of the Made in Hackney Senior Leadership Team, working together to galvanise the organisation behind our strategic plan.
• To contribute to strategic discussions on the future direction of the organisation.

Donor stewardship & reporting

About the opportunity
Corporate partnerships are critical to delivering our mission and ensuring we can support as many children and young people facing disadvantage to open doors to their future. The Philanthropy Team as a whole has a combined target income for the current year (2023-24) of £1.83 million (growing to £2.35m as our target for next year) of which approximately £850k is from corporate donors and their foundations. We have been successful year on year in increasing our fundraising base by building secure multi-year partnerships. Part of our growth strategy is looking at building stronger relationships with corporate partners, having established a strong multi-year relationship for the first time this year worth £500k annually. We have a great ability to measure and quantify its impact, which we are looking to better communicate and leverage with current and potential corporate partners.

We’re looking for a Corporate Partnerships Manager to lead on our corporate partnership activities and initiatives, including growing income from corporate partners as well as increasing the number of corporate volunteer tutor applications we receive from them. Working within our Philanthropy Team, the Corporate Partnerships Manager will be responsible for the line-management and development of two Corporate Partnership Coordinators, ensuring that, as a team, you meet your corporate income and volunteer application targets. Duties and responsibilities
