ABOUT THE ROLE

Join Spurgeons as our Fundraising Campaigns Manager, where you will lead the development and execution of integrated fundraising campaigns designed to increase revenue, enhance supporter relations, and bolster our mission to support children, young people, and families. In this dynamic role, you will research, write, and own compelling fundraising campaigns that align with our needs and budgets. Battersea’s Finance and Corporate Resources directorate is responsible for leading, developing, managing, and supporting the financial, technological, infrastructure and compliance services across Battersea. We are looking for a Systems Accountant to join our Finance Team. This person will manage and administer Battersea’s key finance system, Oracle NetSuite, and support with broader process improvement projects across the function. Job Purpose

BSR events are a key benefit to members and the wider rheumatology community, offering the very latest in science, innovation, research and cases. 

Our events team deliver the award-winning Annual Conference (Manchester 28-30 April 2025) in a hybrid format to c2000 delegates, plus our Case-based conference (Leeds 5-6 Nov, in-person c300 delegates) as well as a programme of celebratory awards. 

The Events Executive works alongside the Events Manager, Digital Events Manager and Head of Events to deliver our events. Working on a range of areas from registration, logistics, being the main point of contact for delegates and liaising with venues and suppliers. This is an exciting role for someone looking to get more exposure to different areas of events and liaise with multiple stakeholders.

Main responsibilities

Event coordination

• Coordinate the registration management process for BSR conferences, including: arranging our registration services, data management and reporting.
• Manage the events inbox, being the main point of contact for delegates for all queries.
• To coordinate networking sessions and taster workshops within annual conference.
• Organise logistical elements including award prizes, abstract poster submissions and processes, arranging site visits, accommodation, travel arrangements and expenses.
• Manage CPD accreditation of events and activities.
• Provide content for webpages and emails to keep delegates informed.
• Input into our event budgets by monitoring progress and providing financial reporting and reconciliation against income and expenditure.

General

• Be a core member of the events team by attending and inputting into all planning meetings, venue site visits and delivery of events onsite.
• Identify and contribute ideas on how to improve processes and ways of working.

Please note: This role will require travel, overnight stays and weekend work, for example at our conferences (6 day stay). As we are a small team you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in cross-departmental projects, lead or contribute to agile sprint working and support wider business needs. About the role

Medact’s Movement Organiser will work alongside our Campaign Leads and Head of Movement Building to grow our movement, developing groups of healthcare workers into confident campaigners who can make a visible difference in the struggle for health justice and peace. The successful candidate will spend approximately 80% of their time with one of our campaigners, and 20% participating in cross-organisational work. The ideal candidate will have an interest in, or experience of organising or campaigning around, issues related to economic justice or the climate crisis. 

About you

This is a skilled role, but you don’t need to have worked for an NGO or be a professional organiser to be right for it. You might have organised in your workplace or local community to take action on issues that you care about. Or, you might be a health worker who has seen the impact of injustices such as a poor environment, immigration or counter-terror policies,  low income or precarious housing on your patients, and wants to challenge decision-makers and hold them to account. 

You’ll have a strong understanding of power and how to work with others to create pressure for change. You need to be a great communicator, able to build trusting relationships with Medact members, partner organisations and community groups. You’ll have an understanding of how digital communications compliment organising and campaigning. Upskilling and empowering our movement is a fundamental part of this role, so you’ll need the ability to deliver training and workshops through an anti-oppressive lens.

INTRODUCTION TO THE GLOBAL HEALTH WORKFORCE PROGRAMME

We are looking for 3 Administrative Assistants based in  1x Addis Ababa Ethiopia, 1x Hargeisa Somaliland & 1x Lilongwe Malawi

Funded by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), and managed by the Tropical Health and Education Trust (THET), the Global Health Workforce Programme (GHWP) aims to develop the health workforce (HWF) in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria and Somaliland supporting them to build stronger, more resilient health systems for post-pandemic recovery and to make progress towards UHC.

Grants for UK-LMIC and cross-LMIC health partnerships will be awarded to respond to national HWF priorities identified through a scoping assessment carried out by THET with DHSC, FCDO, national Governments and stakeholders (such as local World Health Organisation offices). These grants will run until December 2025.   

With a strong focus on building local ownership and sustainability, these partnerships will contribute to the following programmatic outcomes:

1. Partnerships contributing towards improved health workforce leadership capacity aligned with health workforce strategies, that will support reduction in gender inequalities.

2. Partnerships aligning with and contributing towards retention and wellbeing strategies.

3. Improved number and quality of training opportunities for health workers.

4. Co-developed and documented learning on health workforce interventions shared with key national and international stakeholders.

THET will award 28-36 strategic grants of £100,000 – £350,000 that feed into the country scoping priorities and outputs outlined above. The grants will broadly be split across the six countries; however, the exact split is dependent on the number and quality of applications received and broader priorities.   

20-28 smaller grants of up to £50,000 will also be available for projects that tackle specific areas such as innovation, rural health facilities, diaspora engagement, leadership opportunities for women and protected groups, and the climate crisis.   

Grants will be available to UK-LMIC health partnerships and LMIC-LMIC health partnerships. There are no institutional eligibility criteria as long as ODA rules are followed, so grants can be awarded to healthcare providers, royal colleges, universities, professional associations, NGOs, alliances, diaspora networks etc, but not to Ministry of Health departments.

· Management and preparation of the annual budget – including for example income (conference fees, product sales, advertising, onsite cafes), running costs (event production costs, team activity costs, honoraria) centralised costs (staff, overheads), departmental budgets (networking, marketing), capital and restricted funds etc.

· Update of forecasts as required with a target of quarterly reporting to Section Head budget managers and Director of Operations.

Reporting

· Management accounts/management information/data for regular quarterly report data as required including reporting on conference and product performance.

· Reporting as required to review spending with department heads.

Management of the finance team

· Quarterly Reviews
